Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

I installed the Ebay exporter v.9.6 (because I'm using v.1.37 of the Zen Cart so I guess that is the compatible version, and now I have an error. My front end looks fine but when I go to my /admin I get an error and now I can't log in or do any changes from the back end... Here is the error:

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

I cannot get TurboLister to accept the file. I have followed this thread very carefully and tried everyting I can think of. The file I am trying to import is https://www.shop4.co.uk/s4/ebay.csv Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it? Is it something to do with the description? Or too many items? Please help, I'm tearing my hair out!!

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

i could be mistaken, but seems you have comma's in your description, you need to remove these and replace with the &#44 in order to import a CSV file...

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

I tried to import my file into Turbo Lister.. I have 302 items in the csv file, but turbo lister recognized 623 items. And many of those were lacking information.

I thought it might be the commas in the description field. So I saved the file as tab delimited, then opened in word. Then replaced the commas. Opened it back up in excel and saved as csv. Tried to import again, same behaviour.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
David

It should be ignoring those commas as they are surrounded by two double quotes which causes the parser to recognize those as in-text quotes and commas and not as the quotes which surround the entire field. When the csv is opened, is it putting them into separate cells?

Oh, if it helps, feed is here.

Thanks
david

One thing I noticed is two title rows at the top of your CSV. Are you using the latest version from the Numinix website?

Also, before importing are you opening and saving the file with excel, or importing directly. Please try both methods.

Another thing, for those having similar problems and have lots of products, try limiting the categories or number of products in the feed to be able to easier find the cause of the problem.

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

Hi Numinix,

I'm using the version that I downloaded from the Zen Cart website. The filename is ebay_exporter_1-02a.zip, so it looks like that's the latest version?

I just replaced the ebay.php file with the one from your website. And have rerun the file, the dupe header rows have gone away.

However, I have 308 items, and Turbo Lister sees 693..

I have limited the file to 10 entries, of which Turbo Lister sees 12.. The file is in the smame place as the link above.. I'm going through it now looking for an issue, but would welcome feedback.

Thanks
David

Well.. I've run the file at 1 item two items, and then 3.. And on the third item the issues begin, so we're making progress!!

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

Almost there!! On that third entry there is the funny square character..

I already have:

if(strtolower(CHARSET) != 'utf-8')
				$output_buffer .= utf8_encode($output);
			else
				$output_buffer .= $output;

It wasn't commented out in the version of ebay.php that I uploaded.

thanks

The problem is definitely with the encoding/character set. For some reason, when the file is generated it doesn't appear that everything is fully sanitized. Look at a few of the products that have a square box and view the source code for them when you're on the ZC Admin side. You will notice some strange things are exactly the spots where you're seeing the square boxes in excel. Sometimes it's just extra white spaces and sometimes it's some funky code that you need to change to a different character set.

Take a look at the source code on the admin section and report back what you see behind the scene for the product descriptions with the square boxes.

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

Well that tells me what the problem is.. In the admin area, if someone hit enter while typing a description, and began on a new line that causes the issue.

Is there a way to sanitize this while generating the feed? Or do I need to go through all of the products and remove it?

Thanks
David

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

I tried:

$order   = array("\r\n", "\n", "\r");
			str_replace($order,"",$output);
[\code]

but to no avail..

I went directly into the DB, and this is what I found:

[code]
All the razors we sell come honed and Shave ready. This service is if you want to send us your razor to hone.

<p>The most important aspect of enjoying straight razor shaving is having a blade that has been sharpened to it’s maximum potential. This is what provides that completely clean, close and comfortable shave that we straight razor users enjoy so much. Most new razors do not come ready to shave when initially purchased. In addition a razor will normally become dull and need to be re-sharpened several times a year depending on daily use and on beard type.<p>

It's that space between the two paragraphs that I can't seem to get rid of.

Re: eBay Turbo Lister 2.0 Exporter Support Thread

I went into phpmyadmin and viewed the source that they show, and I find these little characters wherever there is a problem: <p>

Now I know that should convert into <p> when outputted.. But the csv file doesn't have them.. So I tried stripping them out with str_replace.. To no avail.. Then tried stripping out the <p> tags with the same function, to no avail :)

Can you please clarify where you made that change? When you said it fixed everything...are you saying it removed the square boxes or all html formatting (which would be bad)?
