Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

dvdlock:

Hi Kuroi,

Many thanks for the response.

Sorry, not with you there. I hadn't seen any reference in the mod to assign a name.

Appreciate advice,

Regards

Dave.

Hi Kuroi,

Got it :bigups:

With your post above it directed me to look further into that name value.

For those who may come across this, I had missed the _2 in the following:

$define_sidebox_2 = zen_get_file_directory(DIR_WS_LANGUAGES . $_SESSION['language'] . '/html_includes/', DEFINE_EDITABLE_SIDEBOX_NAME_2, 'false');

The line of code is from the file in:
includes / modules / sideboxes / editable_sidebox_2.php

Many thanks again

Dave.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

this mod is so cool, it's easy to edit the content in admin.

i decide to add <a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_SOMETHING); ?>"><?php echo SOMETHING; ?></a> to this sidebox from admin - define page editor, but it doesnt work for this area.
i dont want to change it like this <a href="http://something">something</a>
is there any way to add php inside this sidebox content from admin?

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Hi,

I installed your sidebox on one of the sites I work on and it keeps coming up with the following on the top left side of my pages

I have checked everything and am not sure why it is doing this. I didnt put a title into the header of the sidebox and then just added 3 logos into it. I get the same error if I use your blank sidebox module and ccard logo module.

I doubt the error has anything to do with editable sidebox.
The web dev toolbar reports it as an id=indexHomeBody.
You should be looking in your template instead.

If it was the template why did it only do that when I had installed editable sidebox? If I uninstall this module it goes away?

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Hello, I am having trouble with this add-on module. I am sure it is very simple.

I installed the module, changed the title with no trouble. I am able to see/modify the file from the define pages editor. However I want a link to appear to the page inside the define pages editor (the sidebox) in the box not the actual content that I put into the page.

I want this box to operate like the information box.

I am unsure if I am suppose to edit the last line in the code or not.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thx
desi :D

The only thing you are supposed to customize is the name of the box, as per the instructions.
The link issue has been thoroughly discussed.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Firstly, Thanks for a handy little mod.

My question is...

Can I add flash banners to this mod?

If so what would I need to add ?

I already have SWFobject installed and have a working flash banner.

I assume i would need to edit the tpl_blank_sidebox.php file:

<?php /** * blank sidebox - allows a blank sidebox to be added to your site * * @package templateSystem * @copyright 2007 Kuroi Web Design * @copyright Portions Copyright 2003-2007 Zen Cart Development Team * @license <http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt> GNU Public License V2.0 * @version $Id: blank_sidebox.php 2007-05-26 kuroi $ */ $content = ''; $content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="sideBoxContent">'; // Replace the text and HTML tags between the apostophes on lines 19 and 20. // Use as many or as few lines using this model as you need for your custom content. // If you have a multilingual site define your text in the languages/YOUR_LANGUAGE/extra_definitions/blank_sidebox_defines.php and include it as shown in line 19. // If your site is monolingual, you can put the text right here as shown on line 20 (and nobody will know!) $content .= '<p>' . TEXT_BLANK_SIDEBOX . '</p>'; $content .= 'Here is where I would add the flash banner but unsure of coding to use'; $content .= '</div>'; ?>

If I'm going about this the wrong way I;m open to other suggestions.

Thanks for any tips or advice.

That wasn't the plan!

Already done this.. there is nothing I could find on sidebox for flash nor for using Blank sidebox mod and flash.

Anyone have any ideas ? Please see above post.

Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

Maybe not that specific combination, but the suggestion would lead you to a wiki entry that gives you code to insert and the blank sidebox shows you exactly where to insert it.

However, this is not the support thread for flash or the blank sidebox. Please don't clutter it up with questions that aren't relevant to the admin-editable sidebox.

Perhaps you should do a search in google.. then you would see that this is the thread claiming to be support.

Do you think keywords like Blank sidebox, thread and Zen cart is specfic enough in a search ?

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=blank+sidebox+support+thread+zen+cart&btnG=Search&meta=

Thanks for the pro active comments.

Perhaps you could consider something like... Unfortunately, you have posted a question in the wrong support area. You will need to do some further searching to find the relevant thread. Best wishes.

Do you think keywords like Blank sidebox, thread and Zen cart is specfic enough in a search ?The thread makes no such claim. It's title is Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread and it's first entry says> kuroi:

This is the support thread for the Editable Sidebox add-in module. The purpose of this module is to allow the easy addition of custom sideboxes that can be edited through the Admin > Tools > Define Editor and which conform to the structure of the Zen Cart 1.3 series.

Just because somebody earlier in the thread asked whether there was a conflict between blank sidebox and this mod, doesn't change the subject of the thread, even if it does cause Google hits.

Also please read the the Forum Do's and Dont's, especially number 6 concerning bumping.

Work within this forum's way of operating and you'll get great support. Work against it and that help will be much more sparse or disappear altogether.

My response was given in the same rude attitude at which you replied.

Your post was personal, unhelpful nor pointed me in any direction.

We are not all Zen Cart experts and ask questions in here because sometimes it is difficult to find answers to our questions or make sense of a forum with outdated threads and scarcely any order to it.

Go to the FAQ. Do a search on Blank Sidebox. Results = 4 pages of unrelated data.

Search in Google = admin sidebox ranks one and nothing on side box.

Wiki: Nothing on blank sidebox.

Though I'm in the wrong thread.. your presumptions and rudeness is not ok.

Try and be a little nicer to people next time.

I will leave it at that. Have the admin delete my post if you wish as I know this is not related to subject matter.

That wasn't the plan!
