Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

to bcsurf and studiotucker here is my advice (per yellow):

  1. go back thru your files and sytematically remove all files uploaded by the module manager and the adv. cross sell mod.

this is a pain in the ***, but what i did was have three windows up, 1, a backup copy of my database prior to installing these mods so that i could make sure i wasnt deleting anything that was an original file 2, my current database, and 3, the zip file from the mods.... i compared the 3 and made sure i had everything deleted...

  1. go to the phpmyadmin and delete anything related to either mod, including "module_version_tracker"....

  2. re-install the module manager files, then go to zen cart admin and let it auto install, per the instructions. if it works, great... if it doesnt, follow the prior posts between yellow and i to re-create the .keep file

  3. once module manager is working correctly, reinstall the x-sell mod, from the zip file yellow provided the link to a few days ago, in this thread... this is the most current version

i hope this helps?! it worked for me...

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

well, it took me about 20 min... i just tend to rush sometimes, so i wanted to be thorough... might be overkill, but just wanted to get it completely removed before starting over.

I hope your efforts are not in vain... it did work for me, but with everyone using different templates, mods, etc solutions for one are not always solutions for all!

PS, i LOVE your quote! totally going on a post-it by my computer

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Is there code I can add to the shopping cart page to display the cross sell products there too? It sounds like there's a modified mod that includes this feature, but I've already installed this mod.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

hi.. i admit i didnt see all the 50+ pages but i did try the last 8 and 1st 10+ pages and somewhere in the middle.

i have this problem of seeing only a blank page after i installed the module manager (latest) and the cross sell advanced. i didnt know what was wrong, all the files were in there. there was even the cross sell options in the configuration and catalogue drop downs. but i could only see a blank page.

i finally removed all the files which i uploaded and ran a code by yellow and got my site back. can anyone advise me what i did wrong, i really like to give it another try.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

TheMusician:

Hi all,

I have installed the Cross Sell mod with no problem. When I tried to upgrade to Just another Cross-Sell mod I get this error when submitting the SQL statements via zen-cart.

1366 Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'configuration_group_id' at row 1
in:
[INSERT INTO configuration_group VALUES ('', 'Cross Sell', 'Set Cross Sell Options', '1', '1');]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

> Any idea of where to track this one down? Thank you.

I had same problem with Ultimate SEO URL’s. For some reason some peopleleave empty strings in their installation SQL's, but it's quite easy to fix it, by adding real ID's in place. I've added [ZenCart and Ultimate SEO URL’s](http://www.currentlyoffline.co.uk/zencart-ultimate-seo-url-error/) post to my blog with step by step instructions.

Bye for now, im CurrentlyOffline

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Great product Yellow

I'm now using Zen 1.3.8a and installed your module which seems to work 90%

But when I search in admin i get duplicate entries for the same xsell on first search... if i click update its fine and only shows one

If i delete after first search it doesn't delete

I think there is an error in the case for search which is causing it to duplicate the results?

any ideas.
thanks

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

yellow1912, I'm trying to choose a cross sell add-on module. Yours looks well supported.

While doing my homework, I noticed the link for screen shot returns a 404-error. Screen shots would be very helpful. Care to post an updated link? Thanks.

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Hello

I just wanted to show you everyone another this module can used with a little added effort.

Check out how I am using it on our site:
http://www.batteriesinaflash.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_116&products_id=474

Changed a little of the css, core modules files and added jquery to add the ability to show more products and be able to slide threw them.

Use the arrows to navigate in the "We Also Recommend" field

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Hi,

I've tried to install this module a couple times, but no luck this far. I always get stopped by this error when I access the admin area after installing:

Fatal error: Class request_restock: Cannot inherit from undefined class yclass in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/admin/includes/functions/extra_functions/xsell_advanced.php on line 18

Any idea what's causing this problem?

Thanks.

This is mostly a guess but sounds like all of your files are not getting installed or installed correctly. When its trying to access them it cant find them.

Redownload a fresh copy of the module and double check you have all the files and folders in the right locations on your server.

I just went through this myself and it was because I failed to first install the module manager. This is mentioned in the brief first sentence of the installation text file.

To fix, I had to remove the Cross Sells files from the /admin/* portion of the website, then install Module Manager, then re-upload the Cross Sells /admin/* files, and install it via the Admin/ Tools/ Module Manager. If done right, it is really pretty easy.. but the install.txt is pretty lacking (at least for some of us thickheaded ones).

Good luck.

Matt

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

Here is a version of the Cross Sell Advanced that has JQuery added and gives a a site the ability to show more products and allow them to be scrolled through using JQuery.

We made this modified version awhile ago based on Cross Sell Advanced and have had great success using it. A couple of functions of the Original module are disabled because of the way our version works.

You can see it in action at: JQuery Cross Sell Advanced example
You can download it at: JQuery Cross Sell Advanced Download

I am not going to upload it to the contributions center because it is not my module to update.

mmwilcox liked what I had done with it and wanted to know if I could give him a copy of it, so I am sharing with anyone else also.

I have not testes it on any other sites other than mine so use it at your own risk.

Looks great Batteryman! Uploaded it today and it worked with no problems. Thank you for sharing this.

One question: despite my wide page, only three cross-sells show up in the scroll area. Is there a way that I can adjust this to page size? Even if not, or if you don't have time to answer, your version is a nice improvement.

Matt

Can you give me an example of it used on your site? All changes are made using the admin >> configuration >> cross sell to tell how many products are show and all layout changes are made by editing the css file in the css folder in your_template..

I will help you with the css if you like. Just need the page and what your desired look will be.

It looks like your missing on of the files that is being called on. Check to make sure that all files are on there respective locations. Silly question but did you rename the YOUR_TEMPLATE folders to your template name?

Re: Just another Cross-Sell mod (support thread)

so sorry, i hvn't install the module manager

ok, now i installed the module manager, when i go to admin->tools->module manager, i got this error :

Error Failed: 1
Error ERROR: Cannot create table module_version_tracker because it already exists
Warning Note: 1 statements ignored. See "upgrade_exceptions" table for additional details.
Error Failed to set up version tracker table

but when i open my phpMyAdmin, i can see the module_version_tracker is actually created.
