Settings go blank...

DrByte:

Sorry, but your posts are confusing.

What exactly are you wanting to end up with?
Why did you feel you needed to add those SSL redirects initially ?
Keep in mind that if you set up Zen Cart properly, it'll switch into SSL mode when appropriate automatically.

yeah, i just noticed it will switch between, and the original reason there was a redirect was because the site didn't have zencart on it yet, so, i was testing to make sure the cert was working. it was a good thing i did that too, because the first attempt to install the cert was unsuccessful, but, now it works. i would like it to always be SSL, so, is there a way to have the redirect. if not, then no worries.

and yeah, sorry for the confusion. i forgot i had a permanent redirect till i looked at the .htaccess file. sorry. :p

Re: Settings go blank...

If you want Zen Cart to be SSL on all pages, set your HTTP_SERVER to an https: URL, and everything will follow.

ok, works perfect with the ssl redirect off, but, it needs to be running the ssl, so, what do i do?

And I'd still suggest that you check out the suggestions WebsiteRob offered for cleaning up your configuration.

Re: Settings go blank...

Website Rob:

methodcomptech, your problems are bit more serious and need to be handled by you -- I understand you are the Hoster. You cannot have two Nameservers pointing to the same IP. This will cause problems for all accounts hosted on that Server -- especially when using an SSL (https) connection. You are also having problems with IP 218.176.180.122 resolving properly, so that needs to fixed ASAP.

You should also remove the forced redirection, all pages having to use an 'https' connection, and only use 'https' for the pages that need them. This can be done using the default settings for 'https' within both config files in Zen Cart.

I should mention as well, your SSL Cert is registered to: carterellis.com
You cannot use https://www.carterellis.com/ but instead must use https://carterellis.com/ in your Zen Cart settings.

"218.176.180.122" is not my IP. mine is 216.176.180.122 and works fine. as for the redirect, i turned it off. i also tried https://www.carterellis.com in the config files just because it wasnt workign with carterellis.com, so, i was just trying something, but, i will change it back to have no www thanks for the input.

Re: Settings go blank...

nvm, found it. thanks for that. i would have never thought to check that. :p

BTW, this thread should be a sticky. I am obviously not the only person to experience the problem of having a blank post show up when something is submitted, and I know we went through a lot to nail the issue down. this may be helpful to others in the future.

**whois -h whois.godaddy.com carterellis.com ...
Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.MCT-HOSTING.COM
NS2.MCT-HOSTING.COM

Your NS records at the parent servers are:

ns1.mct-hosting.com. [216.176.180.122]
ns2.mct-hosting.com. [218.176.180.122]
[These were obtained from a.gtld-servers.net]

ERROR: Some of your nameservers listed at the parent nameservers did not respond. The ones that did not respond are: 218.176.180.122**

If you are not the Hoster then you should contact your Hoster and make them aware of the situation. Also, if 216.176.180.122 is a Dedicated IP for carterellis.com and was setup correctly, one should be able to use the IP address or the Domain name and see the exact same page. That does not happen in this case. In fact, it looks like the IP [216.176.180.122] is also the Base IP of the Server?

I only point these things out as they are discovered problems. To not correct can cause problems with your Web pages / Scripts and people accessing or using your site. This also makes it more difficult in troubleshooting problems you may be having with any specific script.
