Settings go blank...

Athenon:

Yeah. Works fine. That's the weird thing...it's only some POST forms, not all of them.

Which ones are working fine ? (I assume you're talking about within Zen Cart ? )

Well, registering new users is the only one that I've found to work fine so far, but there's probably others hidden somewhere.

Re: Settings go blank...

What do you have set for HTTP_SERVER in your Admin and your Catalog ?
Is it an http: URL or https: ?

it is http

but http://store.japanaradio.com/ gets redirected to https://store.japanaradio.com/ to force stupid users to be 100% secure always and to prevent annoying dialog boxes when these programs go in and out of secure mode.

Sometimes SSL configurations can mangle data ... was just wondering if that was contributing somehow.

Can you turn off your SSL redirects and see if the add-to-cart works properly?

And can you explain how that SSL redirect is configured ?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That fixed it!!!

Is there any way to leave the SSL redirects on and still have it work? (everything works now, not just the add-to-cart)

Add-to-cart seems to be working fine in both methods now.

How about the admin ?

How exactly was that redirect configured ?

The admin section works fine (mind if I hug you?)

As far as the redirect,
In the standard non secure virtualhost:
RedirectPermanent / https://store.japanaradio.com/

Um ... don't do that :P

So, it WAS a vhost config setting ? ( 1 2 3 )

Re: Settings go blank...

yep, that's what was in it...now it's a normal vhost entry that posts to the same document root as the SSL.

It'd be great to have the redirect too!

oh, and may i thank you wholeheartedly for all your help? :D

Re: Settings go blank...

DrByte brought this thread to my attention and thought I would chime in.

Athenon, although your problem seems corrected for the moment, you should still straighten out your Nameservers situation. You cannot have duplicates (NS1 & NS2). You should use 'everydns.net' for all 4 NS as the ones provided by 'misproductions.com' show a Server with problems. Besides, the 'everydns.net' NSs are just redirecting to wherever you want anyway, right?

It'd be great to have the redirect too! There are other ways to force redirects to SSL mode.

However, Zen Cart is designed to automatically switch into SSL mode for pages that require it.
You shouldn't need to be doing any additional redirections.

Sure! This is one of the best ways to say thanks: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=infopages&pages_id=14

Re: Settings go blank...

methodcomptech, your problems are bit more serious and need to be handled by you -- I understand you are the Hoster. You cannot have two Nameservers pointing to the same IP. This will cause problems for all accounts hosted on that Server -- especially when using an SSL (https) connection. You are also having problems with IP 218.176.180.122 resolving properly, so that needs to fixed ASAP.

You should also remove the forced redirection, all pages having to use an 'https' connection, and only use 'https' for the pages that need them. This can be done using the default settings for 'https' within both config files in Zen Cart.

I should mention as well, your SSL Cert is registered to: carterellis.com
You cannot use https://www.carterellis.com/ but instead must use https://carterellis.com/ in your Zen Cart settings.

Re: Settings go blank...

Athenon, just noticed that both:
store.japanaradio.com -and- japanaradio.com
point to the same Dedicated IP -- and that's not right.

Not sure how or why you got an SSL Cert registered to a Dedicated IP used by more than one Domain name, but that can also cause all kinds of problems. When a Domain name has a Dedicated IP address one should be able to use the Domain name or the IP address and see the exact same page -- also applies when using an 'https' connection like you're doing -- but it does not happen in your case.

Also, you should get a PTR setup for the Dedicated IP as it helps in many ways; with Search Engines is just one example and cutting down on eMail problems is another. Your Hoster will know what a PTR is and should be able to set it up at no charge and very quickly.

Just a thought.

that is the only difference between my two zencarts is the one on methodcomptech is not https, and the one on carterellis.com is. could that be the issue?

Turn off all the SSL redirects on carterellis and let's try it.

Sorry, but your posts are confusing.

What exactly are you wanting to end up with?
Why did you feel you needed to add those SSL redirects initially ?
Keep in mind that if you set up Zen Cart properly, it'll switch into SSL mode when appropriate automatically.
