Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

ugh - what a pest am I?

I talked with the NOVA tech guys and he's saying the 4012 is a Zen Cart error (even though it's in their Dev Manual). So, I've been trying to work with the log files and here's my question...

am I supposed to be able to view the log files from these files?
virtualmerchant_today.php
vm_view_logs.php

Because their names and their code suggests that I should, and I can't access them when I employ the .htaccess files that came with the module. All I get is the blank index.html file.

TIA!

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

I am using Zen Cart Version 1.3.7, and when I just insert the test credit card information (without going through Virtual Merchant) things work fine. However, whenever I try to use Virtual Merchant, I get the following error.

2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query
in:
[select customers_email_format from zen_customers where customers_email_address= '[email protected]']
2006 MySQL server has gone away
in:
[select count(*) as total from zen_sessions where sesskey = 'b7c88ebbb32fb0afb03a913bd8d7215d']

Warning: Unknown(): A session is active. You cannot change the session module's ini settings at this time. in Unknown on line 0

I have no idea what this means, and no clue what to do, which is pretty bad since my client has been trying to launch the site for awhile now. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Thank you!

Yes, this went into effect on the 14th of Feb, show the love!!!

This should be an easy fix. I'll test a fix and let you know the results soon. As in tonight I hope.

What you should see is:

I would try removing your current install of the module and the reinstall; sounds like the records didn't get written to your SQL somehow

Hi Scit, a few questions...

Is this a stock/fresh 1.3.7 installation? Are there any (many) other custom modules installed? Does the cart have any other issues? This does seem much larger than just an issue with the VM module. Losing a connection to the database could be a hosting issue, network connectivity issue, database server load issue, etc. At what point in the transaction does this happen, and is it repeatable?

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

heliosMD:

In the instructions for this module it says to:

*** AGAIN, be sure to LOCK DOWN your logs directory, ask your web hosting provider for assistance or alternatively disable the logging if you do not know how to lock down that directory.

Does that mean changing the CHMOD? And change it to what?

Thanks!
H

While 777 permissions will work, it is probably not as secure as you may want it to be long term. The web server process (apache httpd) -- whichever user is used to ractually un the apache process (varies depending on OS, apache versions, etc.) -- will need write access to write logs to the folder. Your systems administrator or web hosting provider should be able to provide furhter information or assistance with this.

The more important key point is to secure actual web access to that folder by utilizing password protection through an access control mechanism such as an .htaccess file. Again your web server admin / web hosting support should also be able to provide additional information on how to do this properly for your specific web server.

Hope this helps? Did you get the logging figured out otherwise?

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

rtw819,

I don't seem to have any other problems with my Zen Cart, and no other custom modules installed. In fact, if I choose any other payment method (such as just paying with credit card, but not using the VM Credit Card Payment Gateway) it works fine. It is just when I try to use the Payment Gateway that it seems to time out and I get the error.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the module, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

The lost connection happens after Step 3 (order confirmation). I get to that point and hit "confirm the order" and it times out and I get the error

2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query
in:
[select customers_email_format from zen_customers where customers_email_address= '[email protected]']
2006 MySQL server has gone away
in:
[select count(
) as total from zen_sessions where sesskey = '1066530536ab58b06a2d83ef99e96862']

Warning: Unknown(): A session is active. You cannot change the session module's ini settings at this time. in Unknown on line 0*

Should I contact my hosting company? I'm not quite sure who I should even ask for help!

Thank you!

Hi scitrenbaum,

I am unsure what could be causing your errors. I don't believe it's the VM module though. Neither of the SQL queries in your reported error message are generated by the VM module code itself. But, we'll see if we can track it down since it does seem to be closely related somehow.

So, just to be sure I'm on the same page here. It happens once the "Confirm the Order" button is clicked? How long does it take to "time out" and come back with the message as described. Is it also always the same message?

I'll send you a PM so that we can continue this in email. We'll report any findings back here.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

I am sure I'm just missing something but I don't have a catalog/includes/ directory?!! Is that what the install instructions are saying we need to create? Or am I really clueless here? Do I just use the mystore/includes directory??

I'm excited to find this module and anxious to get it up and running -- and you can be sure a donation will follow :)

You're on target, some would have store/includes or kitchen/includes or store/includes

It just depends on the directory you've installed your ZenCart into

So now I've got it installed and set up and am getting that ERROR CODE: 4012
internal error communicating with the gateway.

Re: Need help with Virtual Merchant module

Hello,

The 4012 error seems to indicate an account problem of some sort. Verify your ID numbers? Double check with the VM folks to be sure the account is active/enabled?

"4012- The VirtualMerchant ID and/or User ID supplied in the authorization request is invalid."

On another note, here is an update to scitrenbaum's problem...

After some additional testing and troubleshooting, it turned out to be a two-fold issue. The web host's server had what seemed to be a mostly dysfunctional PHP-based cURL implementation. It would even fail to report its version number properly more often than not -- intermittent at best, which gave some very strange results.

The server thankfully did have a binary executable curl binary we could use, so we switched to that instead of using the broken PHP cURL. Shortly thereafter, I realized the host needed a proxy set in order to be able to get out to the internet. After setting the proxy, we were able to run several test transactions successfully. No payment module code changes were required.

Good luck!

Did they send you an account id that started with a 5 or a 0? Please do not give the entire number.

In order for the module to work you'll need an account id, user id, and pin; all of which are obtained from My Virtual Merchant

Yes, I have an account # starting with a 5, an user ID and pin # all entered correctly. I am linking to production now, with this url:

https://www.myvirtualmerchant.com/VirtualMerchant/process.do

Here is the error I get now:

Credit Card Processing Error: 4003 - HTTP Referrer Invalid
Error There has been an error processing your credit card!
An internal error occured during the communication with the Payment Gateway! Please try it again later. If this error occurs again, please choose a different payment option and inform customer support of this error
