Fast and Easy Checkout

DivaVocals:

Did you read through the description for this module??:shocking:
LOL don't be shocked... I actually read through the description but not the one in the link you provided. I read the one here:

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=845

and it was not as clear and easy to read as in the link you provided:

http://www.numinix.com/zen-cart-modules/template-modifications/fast-and-easy-ajax-checkout-for-zen-cart

It's good to know that it supports COWOA. It's going to be more difficult for me now to choose between FEC and Integrated COWOA.

If you were to choose between the two addons, which one would you choose and why?

Re: Fast and Easy Checkout

DivaVocals:

Version 1.8.1 can be found here:
http://www.numinix.com/zen-cart-modules/template-modifications/fast-and-easy-checkout-for-zen-cart

Version 2.0 can be found here:
http://www.numinix.com/zen-cart-modules/template-modifications/fast-and-easy-ajax-checkout-for-zen-cart
OK, now that I learned that there are TWO "Fast and Easy Checkout" products (1.8.1 vs. 2.9.6), what is the difference between the two?

I know that 1.8.1 is free and is not AJAX based, but what does mean in terms of features?

The features of each are listed on the prospective page, but they are hard to compare as there is no comparison table and I am not even sure the feature lists are complete.

Please help me decide whether the price of the 2.9.6 AJAX based version is worth it.

Thanks.

Thanks.IMO the Integrated COWOA mod is a mess, and not worth the time and struggle it takes to get it to work.. FEC provides COWOA and so much more, and is developed by one of the developers who IMO has a reputation for building solid mods.. which IMO makes IT the mod to have.. The Ajax version is totally worth the money as the Ajax features only improve the user experience with the checkout page. Ajax technology means that screen refreshes are much more seemless and smooth from the user perspective.. Now I'm sure that others here can provide a more expanded technical view of why the Ajax version is better, but from a end user perspective it will improve the shopper's checkout experience..

OUCH....

I had a customer order some product and use a Purchase Order, which is only for established accounts. He said he did that because it wouldn't take his credit card. So, I tried mine and I had the same result even though I had tested it before and it worked fine. The problem was FEC 1.80. I haven't had time to investigate it, but once I disabled it, the credit card problem disappeared.

I just tried the FEC live demo site and experienced (as a user) a hung process (see attached snapshot). I hope that the free FEC (1.8.1) doesn't have the same user experience...

Anyway, thanks for your answer.

soxophoneplayer:

includes/modules/create_account.php is NOT on the list of modified files in the FEC 1.8.0 release.

Where is that list? I looked for it in the downloaded fast_and_easy_checkout_for_zen_cart_1-8-1.zip and couldn't find it.

soxophoneplayer:

I'm getting befuddled trying to update FEC and zc concurrently.
I am well familiar with the temptation to update ASAP to the latest & greatest. However, my experience showed me that it's never a good idea to perform several updates/changes at the same time. It's not only a question of configuration management but also a question of easier troubleshooting: You perform "one" change. You let it be tested for a period of time (anywhere from 1 day to 1 week to 1 month). If all is fine, you proceed with the next change/update.

In my case, I decided to withhold upgrading to 1.3.9. Since I made that decision, two more 1.3.9 versions have been released. Sometimes it's good to wait.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the author of FEC already included support for the CAPATCHA mod which, by now, should be an integral part of Zen-Cart.

Answering myself: I found it on the author's website. For the benefit of all I am posting here the link:

Anyway, thanks for your answer.Well I still stand by all my original statements.. Ajax features are a good addition to the FEC module and will improve the end user experience.. Numinix is an excellent module author, and he has written and contributed quaite a few useful well written modules.. Did you ask the author about this issue?? (he has a support forum on his website..) In my experience, Numinix is VERY responsive to questions/issues..

Re: Fast and Easy Checkout

Hi,

After confirming order at checkout, it got stuck at the "Your order is being processed, please wait" page and does not proceed to the PayPal (or other payment module) page. Any idea how to solve this?

Re: Fast and Easy Checkout

Upon error in account creation form (e.g. missing one of the required fields), the fields that were already filled do not retain their values.

Instead, the (correct) error messages are displayed, but all fields in the form are blanked.

This happens when 'Easy Sign-Up and Login' is enabled and looks like a bug, since before applying FEC, this problem did not exist.

Have you encountered this problem before? Is there a solution or workaround for it?

I would hate to dump FEC just because of this bug...

I just tried this with Easy Sign-Up and Login' disabled and problem is even worse: The correct error messages are still being displayed but FEC doesn't remain in the same sign-up form page.

Instead, it returns to the "Login In or Register" page, where you need to click a button to get to the sign-up form page.

This may actually be a good hint as to where the problem lies.

Again, if you have an idea how to troubleshoot this, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

@DivaVocals thanks to your previous advice I posted it here (yesterday):

http://www.numinix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4&hilit=validation&sid=a5be2b94208e9b8d9d33c1ae9535cc55&start=855#p4132

Should I be looking at includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/create_account.php ?

Have you encountered this problem? or am I the only one experiencing it?

Are you using FEC 1.8.1?

I just posted an update on Numinix's forum:

http://www.numinix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4&p=4133#p4133

There seems to be an extra line that's responsible for this.

I am surprised that you haven't had any issues with this. Did you test this particular function? What happens when a customer forgets to fill a required filled?

Re: Fast and Easy Checkout

Now that I solved the form validation problem (or did I?) I encountered another problem introduced by FEC 1.8.1: Now with every order completed, I receive a "Warning: Low Stock" email - for downloadable products!

This, of course, doesn't happen when FEC is disabled, otherwise I wouldn't have posted this problem in this thread.

If you have an idea why would FEC introduce this kind of problem, that would be appreciated.

Re: Fast and Easy Checkout

Hi,

I'm installing the FEC 1.8.1 module for the first time and have encountered the following issue:

When I copy & paste the install.sql I come up with the error,

1062 Duplicate entry 'Permanent Account Holders Only' for key 2
in:
[INSERT INTO query_builder ( query_id , query_category , query_name , query_description , query_string ) VALUES ( '', 'email,newsletters', 'Permanent Account Holders Only', 'Send email only to permanent account holders ', 'select customers_email_address, customers_firstname, customers_lastname from TABLE_CUSTOMERS where COWOA_account != 1 order by customers_lastname, customers_firstname, customers_email_address');]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

What does this mean? and how do I rectify it?

Many Thanks.

I have a feeling that I am going to solve this bug myself, too. So here is a hint to myself:

Line 985 in includes/classes/order.php:

    if ($this->email_low_stock != '' and SEND_LOWSTOCK_EMAIL=='1') {

How many times did you copy & paste the install.sql? Did you have other add-on installed previously or this is the plain vanilla Zen-Cart?

I am a newbie to FEC and I can tell you that despite having quite a few add-ons installed on top of my Zen-Cart (a very delicate process...), I didn't encounter the problem you described. Both SQL patches (for css_javascirpt_loader and FEC itself) when very smoothly.
