Re: How to launch??? Need to move to main folder

Hello

I am facing the same problem of launching my website, https://www.indicana.com from https://www.indicana.com/catalog. I would really appreciate your help.

1.First of all when I tried to move all the files and folders from the directory "Catalog" (which is under the main root directory "indicana.com") I moved all the others except for this one which I couldn't move as there was another includes folder containing the sub-directory templates/slovak_classic . So the includes folder containing other sub-directories and config.php file is still under the directory "catalog'

Secondly I changed the config.php file after changing the permissions through file zilla by right clicking and changing the attributes to 777. I also changed the config.php file which is in admin.

Here's the admin/includes/config.php file after the changes:

<?php /** * @package Configuration Settings circa 1.3.8 * @copyright Copyright 2003-2007 Zen Cart Development Team * @copyright Portions Copyright 2003 osCommerce * @license <http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt> GNU Public License V2.0 */ /*************** NOTE: This file is similar, but DIFFERENT from the "store" version of configure.php. ***********/ /*************** The 2 files should be kept separate and not used to overwrite each other. ***********/ // Define the webserver and path parameters // Main webserver: eg-http://www.your_domain.com - // HTTP_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg-http://www.your_domain.com // HTTPS_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg-https://www.your_domain.com // HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg-http://www.your_domain.com // HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg-https://www.your_domain.com /* * URLs for your site will be built via: * HTTP_SERVER plus DIR_WS_ADMIN or * HTTPS_SERVER plus DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN or * HTTP_SERVER plus DIR_WS_CATALOG or * HTTPS_SERVER plus DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG * ...depending on your system configuration settings * * If you desire your *entire* admin to be SSL-protected, make sure you use a "https:" URL for all 4 of the following: */ define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.indicana.com'); define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.indicana.com'); define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.indicana.com'); define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.indicana.com'); // Use secure webserver for catalog module and/or admin areas? define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false'); define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'false'); // NOTE: be sure to leave the trailing '/' at the end of these lines if you make changes! // * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL) // these paths are relative to top of your webspace ... Um ... if you didn't move your includes folder along with the rest of the files, of course you're going to be having problems.

If the "includes' folder that contains the slovak_classic template has nothing else in it, delete or rename it and move your main files where they belong. Then re-apply the template correctly afterwards.

Oh ... by the way ... youdo do regular full backups of your files and database, right? Just in case you need to recover from problems like this ..... right?

Re: How to launch??? Need to move to main folder

Thank you so much Dr. Byte. As per your instructions I deleted the includes/templates/Slovak_classic (custom folder which was empty) and moved all the files in the catalog folder to the root folder indicana.com. And Lo! the website showed up. But I am facing another problem now. I am not able to access to the admin area to make any changes to my website. When I try to access https://www.indicana.com/admin it displays my parent directory and other 4 folders and when I click on backups it displays the following message:

Server error!
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

Error message:

Re: How to launch??? Need to move to main folder

You sure love to hack things out don't you?

You've deleted stuff all over the place.

Plus, you've gone and posted your passwords publicly, and now Google has them. You should change your MySQL database password using your hosting company's control panel database manager, and put the new password in your configure.php files.

It would have been better for you to follow the documented instructions for moving folders:

Re: How to launch??? Need to move to main folder

Here are some changes that would be recommended:

includes/configure.php```
define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/www/indicana.com/cache/');

admin/includes/configure.php

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/admin/');
define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/admin/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/www/indicana.com/admin/');
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/www/indicana.com/');

define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/www/indicana.com/cache/');

 define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/www/indicana.com/cache/');

Hello Dr. Byte,

Thank you once again for the clues. I have probably made a mess of the files while moving them but I did not realise that the passords (which are seen like asterisks) would be readable by anyone. I have absolutely no programming or php knowledge and whatever technical knowledge I acquired to do my website was because of the FAQ's knowledgebase and the forums where people like you hold the torch for new zenners like me and show the way to fix our websites. I have absolutely no intention to hack things out at all!

As per your instructions I have changed my MYSQL database password and also put the new password in both the config.php files. I am still not able to connect to the admin. I don't understand where I could have gone wrong. I also made the changes you recommended in the config.php files after changing their permissions from 444 to 777. Does it take sometime to be granted access to the database after the password is changed? Could this be the reason? I would appreciate your help.

By the way earlier (ie before launching my website) in the sessions directory in the admin/configuration/sessions, I changed the name from "indicana.com/catalog/cache" to "indicana.com" . Is that right ?

Thanks

Indicana

Does it take sometime to be granted access to the database after the password is changed? Could this be the reason?No, there is no time-delay. If the changes aren't taking effect, then the files are likely not in the correct place.

When clicking on the link to your admin area, all I see is 3 foldernames. None of your admin PHP files are shown. This suggests that you didn't copy/move all the files from your /catalog/admin folder to your /admin folder.

No, that is not correct. You should have only removed the "catalog/" part ... for both the session foldername, as well as in your configure.php files.

Thank you so much Dr. Byte. I am able to access the admin login page now. The problem was as you said all the admin files were in the root folder indicana.com instead of indicana/admin, so I transferred all of them to the admin and now I can view the admin login page, but when I try to login it takes me to a blank page with the URL : "https://www.indicana.com/admin/index.php". I am close to the admin area now but still not able to access it. What could be the reason? I changed the ssl for the admin to "true" instead of "false" in the config.php file. I would really appreciate your help.

By the way thanks for changing my passwords to asterisks ........ I can't believe I was so blind to overlook these security risks. Thanks once again.

Sorry for too many posts. I copied the index.php file to indicana/admin and now Ican access the admin page, but still can't login. Is there anything that I missed. Is it right to copy the index.php file to admin?

I am also wondering how I can change the name in the sessions directory ( admin/configuration/sessions directory) to "indicana.com/cache" since I can't login to the admin now. Is there any other way I can do it?

Re: How to launch??? Need to move to main folder

Sorry for too many posts. I copied the index.php file to indicana/admin and now Ican access the admin page, but still can't login. Is there anything that I missed. Is it right to copy the index.php file to admin?Zen Cart has a couple different index.php files. They are not interchangeable:

/index.php
/admin/index.php

You'll have to get the original versions of BOTH of those files from the backups you've made of those files. You do have copies of everything on your PC, right?

If you've misplaced those files, you can get the originals from the master Zen Cart distribution files: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=323

Go back and read the FAQ I mentioned earlier, about moving from one folder to another. You've missed step 5.

Re: How to launch??? Need to move to main folder

Hello Dr. Byte,

Thank you for the instructions. I have requested my host provider to upload the backup files from the server. I am just wondering if I upload the original index.php files from the zen cart zip folder on my PC, would I not have to work on the design template ie the home page of my website again?

Regarding the 5th step in the tutorial, I downloaded the Fix Cache Key file from the troubleshooting section. But the instructions are a bit confusing. Where do Iupload the file - in the root folder indicana.com or in the admin folder ie /admin ? And how do I run the file?

My admin page displays but when I try to login it says: "wrong user name and password". So I ran the query:
DELETE FROM admin WHERE admin_name = 'Admin'; INSERT INTO admin (admin_name, admin_email, admin_pass, admin_level) VALUES ('Admin', 'admin@localhost', '351683ea4e19efe34874b501fdbf9792:9b', 1); as per the instructions given in the tutorial: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=2

Nothing happened. Do I have to change admin@localhost to [email protected]?

I would appreciate your help in resolving this admin problem.

thanks

Indicana

When you say "nothing happened", what exactly do you mean?

Following is the result of running the query:

Your SQL query has been executed successfully
SQL query:
DELETE FROM admin WHERE admin_name = 'Admin';# Affected rows:1
INSERT INTO admin( admin_name, admin_email, admin_pass, admin_level )
VALUES (
'Admin', 'admin@localhost', '351683ea4e19efe34874b501fdbf9792:9b', 1
);# Affected rows:1

thanks

When I try to log using the new admin username and password as given in the instructions I still cannot login. And when I log in using my old username and password I am taken to a blank page.

"Affected rows:1" is the expected result ... and thus your new user/pwd is Admin/admin

... I am taken to a blank page.

That suggests that you've created a bug somewhere ...
Use step 2a of this article to find where: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=82
