Login as Customer module [Support Thread]

thanks for your help. I have another question if you could help me with this. when I log into various customers accounts I am getting the same cart. A potential customer left an item in her cart without either deleting it or carrying out the full transaction. I am seeing this item when I click on the cart of all customers. Why is this.

A customer has recently processed an order which is now not showing up on her account and the email I received from paypal reads only that it is a store receipt without details of the item purchased. I thought that by installing this module that I could trace this but all I am getting is the item which was left in another person's cart.

Can anyone help?

I've yet to experience this problem. I can't attempt to duplicate it because I have another problem with the Login as Customer module.

I've just noticed this problem too. I'm not sure when this started happening. Does anyone know about his.

Can anyone help? I know it has something to do with the admin/customers.php file. I have modified customer file and when I re-load it. I get customers back instead of parse error. But do not have place order button. I am wondering if something to do with winmerge?

Is this a defunct add-on? :cry:Can't answer for the defunct part.. (haven't checked the authors site..) But I do know I have this module in use on one client's site with no issues whatsoever.. Just backup, use Winmerge or Beyond Compare to merge any core files, and you should be fine.. JMHO

Can i pick your brain?...

I installed Encrypted Master Password v 1.2, then installed Admin Login AS Customer 2.0 (With out Master Password as i already have encrypted Master Password Installed).

everything seems fine....

just checking that this is how its supposed to work.

admin> Customers > customers
then select a customer..
click 'place order' button

This opens a new tab displaying a screen saying "are you sure you want to sign in as CUSTOMERS NAME", I then click the 'place order' button.

that takes me to the log-in screen, this screen displays an error message "Error: Sorry, there is no match for that email address and/or password." I then have to manually enter the master password... and then im logged in.

Is that how it is supposed to work?.. with the 'no match for email error' so i manually enter the master password?

I have had a little look at your site, i really like it!! There is a feature you have that i would like to recreate but i dont know how i would go about it.

It is your 'Shop By Products' side box...
how did you do that?

any help/advice more than welcome.

It's been a minute since I used this mod so I would have to login to the client's test site and test and report back my findings.. I can tell you that the only reason we installed this mod in the first place was to complete a number of incomplete orders.. I don't think the client has used the module since the initial install/use.

(let me explain) The site I used this mod on had some sort of PayPal IPN glitch where the order would get through to PayPal, but show as an incomplete order in the store.. So the client would get IPN notifications and PayPal payments notifications for orders that did not exist in the store. (The order was showing in the customer's account as an unpaid/incomplete order.) So I used this module to login as the customer and "finish" the incomplete order so that there was an order to match to the PayPal payment received (and more importantly so that the client knew what had been ordered)..

cheers for the fast reply Diva, my site is an industrial supplies wholesale type site and i take 70% of orders via phone, so that's why i like the look of this mod.

Which is precisely why I suggested you give it a go.. When I used it I never experienced any of the issues reported here either.. It worked PERFECTLY for what we needed it for, but I can see how it would be tre useful for a mail order style of business..

i have been told that although it is a popular mod, it is recommended against using this mod on a zc site.. but no reasons as why, problems it causes etc...

someone please advise, as i am in two minds if i should remove this mod from my site...

Ok, can someone help me with the merging so that I can use it on 1.3.9? Looks like the admin/customers.php and the includes/functions/password_funcs.php are the only two files that need work as far as I can tell.

The issue is that the login credentials are passed in plain text; they're not encrypted. If you scroll to the bottom of the contrib download page there's a brief discussion of this:

I personally would prefer to see people use encrypted master password and stop there.

Ok, I have this working with 1.3.9d on my local machine using XAMPP but the only problem is that after I go to the admin>customers page and click on the "place order" image it takes me to the "index.php?main_page=login_as_customer" page but none of the customers information is showing. If I click on the "place order" image there it works just fine and logs me in as the customer but I would really like to see that information to be sure that I am not accidentally logging into the wrong account. Could this be just because I am on my local machine or is there a fix that I am unaware of?

The only other mods installed at this point are cherry_zen template and css flyout menu and everything was working perfectly before I started the login as customer add on.

There is a pretty serious issue with this mod.

If you login as a customer, place an order etc, but forget to logout... then go back into the admin and login as a new customer... It will appear that you are logging in as the new customer (Their details will be displayed on the login page)... but you are actually still logged in as the FIRST customer.

You can see the problems that this would cause.

What the script needs to do, is end any active sessions when the address conformation page comes up, that would solve the problem.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I didn't read through the whole thread.

Following on from what I said above... I've just added this code to tpl_login_as_customer_default.php

It doesn't stop you from logging in as the wrong customer, but at least it gives you a bit more of a warning before you do it.

It doesn't really matter where you put it, I added it just above where it says: 'Are you sure you want to log in as'

If somebody wants to work out how to safely and properly destroy the session instead, that would be much better.

If you would like to remove this add on how do you go about removing the merged sql file. I don't see any uninstall routine for this patch to the database in the files included in this submission.
