images not displayed

sorry to be a continual pain and before i am told to search for the answer - i have, but canot find a simplified answer.
i have uploaded the image i need for product but whatever i do i cannot get the image to show. The tutorial is less than helpful as most things it is not designed for my level of ignorance. i am quickly believing my knowledge is less than the norm newbie

Are you assigning the image using the product information screen? If you haven't tried that, use it and see if it works that way. If you're uploading the image via FTP you might be putting it in the wrong folder.

I am copying the image into my pictures from a website :unsure:then uploading it through the servage ftp. your right in that it is very confusing and frustrating. i have purchased the zencart manual but it doesnt cover this problem. When i have sorted this i will buy your tutorial on templates, but i cannot do anything until i get my images sorted :huh:

What is your URL? What is the path to an image you have uploaded? What FTP client are you using?

i use the servage ftp but also have cuteftp

Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: /home81a/sub002/sc44712-UYGT/uk-hypnotherapy.eu/images/755 is not "world-writable". Your webserver most likely deals with the 3rd digit and not the first digit.
That's why it's usually mentioned that you want "777" to be the permission level set on all your images folders.
For your server, try 777 instead of 755.

and what happens if when on the add products page in the admin and you use the browse function to grab the image and add it to the product? I am just trying to clarify the problem

when i preview it there is no picture

at this point to really see what is going on I would need to have access.

Pardon me for stating the obvious ... but ...
If the folder is not writable, and you're getting messages telling you that it's not writable ... then ... just maybe ... the folder isn't writable ... which just might explain why the images aren't being uploaded, and thus aren't showing up in preview.

Um ... make the folder writable.

If you're not able to do that yourself, your hosting company should be able to help you.

all settings were and still are set to 777

You said they were code 755 yesterday - are you sure that has changed to 777? If so, it may be something your host needs to do; I don't think we can help to make folders set to writeable, actually writeable.

The mysticcharms site is password protected - could that have anything to do with the problem? Doesn't seem like that should be relevant to admin image loading, but it is a difference from the usual...

the mystuiccharms dropshipping site is accessed through a password, if thast changes it further

Do you have any other sites on the same host? If so, are there any problems with them?

Can you post the url to where your Zen Cart is intalled?
