I've been wondering why people use the Firefox browser? On my computer monitor, the text is jagged, thin, the boldface isn't bold. The text is actually pixelated: there are whitespaces gaps so the black letters aren't totally connected. All this makes the text hard to read. The photos and graphics are ok but the text drives me crazy. Is there a way to adjust this? I find it hard to believe that this browser is popular. But maybe I don't have it setup right. I did upgrade to Firefox 3 but it looks the same.

Cyndy, the real problem is IE, not FF.
IE is a browser that doesnt work to the standards, if your site doesnt work on FF then

1. it doesnt conform to the standards
2. it probably will not work well on other browsers such as safari or chrome or opera as well

FF is used by almost20% of the world, and mostly young people.

My site works fine on FF, that's not a problem. I'm talking about the FF browser: the display is pretty lousy on my monitor. So I've wondered why people like this browser. Is there some way to improve the appearance of the text? Maybe I don't have the right kind of screen fonts? Something? It's puzzled me for awhile.

Oh, never mind... I found something on Google about how to set Cleartype font smoothing and that totally changed how Firefox displays. Huge difference. Wow. Here's the link:

Very Sorry to interrupt this thread for this topic. I wanted to ask people that I knew were using Firefox: why do you like it?

1. It is very fast
2. It has tons of add-ons, some are so important that we developers can NOT live without it. (which is why most sites are designed on FF first)
3. It is more secured, less vulnerable to some bugs IE has
4. It is updated more frequently.

Just wanted to thank you for the Simple SEO add on. I installed the latest version on my ZC v1.3.7.1, and it worked without one single problem!
One concern I had was that my current links will be broken - I have a lot of them pointing to my products from outer pages. They all redirect perfectly fine!

One question I would have - are Google spiders happy with the redirect?

Yes, but as warned it will take time. For many people it takes a few days, in rare cases it can take weeks.
Again, 301 redirection is the correct method recommended by google and other SEs.

Google analytics says my site traffic is up 7% overall, but the amount of traffic from search engines directly has increased from 8% to 16% since I installed Simple SEO Url last week. I think that's very impressive. Search engine traffic has doubled in only a few days. :yes:

I am having a problem with my htaccess file. I got everything installed and once I turn the mod on I get an internal server error. If I use this htaccess which is what it contained before plus your info I get internal server error on ever page even my admin. If i set htaccess to blank and just add your info I can get to my main page and admin but all links return and error.. any suggestions?

I've had this module installed and running for approximately 1 week and noticed yesterday that there are over 50,000 directories in the cache/ssu directory. Most of them are empty as i've cleared the cache a number of times.

I have a store with roughly 1300 products, and use automated link aliases to remove identifiers.

Can you tell me if this is number of directories in the cache folder is normal, and if so, can you give me some more info on why there are so many and what their purpose is.

Since most directory wont run effectively with over 30000 files inside, i had to break down folders into many subfolders.

In the new version i will allow store owners to determine how depth this level could go down, but for now it is 4 level deep.

I'm not sure i understand why this many files are needed for the cache? Does it not only need to cache each url once, or does it create a file in the cache every time a link is clicked?

one product does not have a single url, it has many url (with different variables inside).If you have 1000 products and around 50 categories you can have maybe 5000 or more urls just for products and categories.

It's recommended to clean up cache folder once in a while, maybe 2-3 months.

Ive installed this mod and started using it and i thought it was great! however im having a few problems with the alias's.

im trying to put an alias in for the product which is 2 categories deep (category1/category2/product). Im trying to put an alias in for this product but when i do it just seems to refresh the page when clicked or it just displays a 'page cannot be found.

Can you do an alias for an alias??

Category1 has an alias of level1 creating the alias URL of level1/category2/product

i then do an alias for Category2 creating the Alias URL of level1/level2/product. The link i have to change is level1/category2 . Things still work fine.

when i then change level1/level2/product to level1/level2/new_product it seems to break??

does this make sense?? Am i doing simething wrong?? :no:

Which version are you using? Why do you want to have an alias of an alias? Why not changing that specific alias itself?

I get this error, but in the error log for my cpanl it doesn't show anything.

I was receiving an error going to ssl pages as well, but that was corrected by removing the username in the config.php

Actually your error log in your cpanel should show something related to the error. Anyhow, if you temporarily remove whatever you have in your htaccess, and leave only the ssu stuffs there do you still get the error? What is the url of your site?
