Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

All the sudden my site https://www.redlinestands.com is having link problems despite that I haven't changed anything. If you click on "sportbike stands", "transport stands" or some other links you'll notice that it takes you right back to the home page. Do you think this could be a simple seo problem? I really need to fix this fast since this site is how I make my living.

Well, I turned off my SEO and as soon as I did the site works fine again. Any idea what's wrong? This makes no sense to my because I never changed anything.

I reset all cache in the SEO manager and it fixed everything though I have no idea why.

Usually, things cant happen out of no where. Sometimes your host can make changes and would not inform you about that.

Anyhow, for future reference as well as investigation, can you post the version of the module you are using, estimated number of categories and products you have?

I currently have 79 products and 15 categories, plus sub categories. As for the version, I'm not sure. Where would I check for that?

Hi! I use zencart 1.5.3 with the latest SSU.

Set max category level 20
Exclude list advanced_search_result,redirect,popup_image_additional,download,wordpress
Set Link Alias Status true
Set minimum word length 0
Set maximum name length 0
Set SSU Status true
Set SSU Multi Language Status false
Set Query Key's Exclude List zenid,gclid,number_of_uploads,number_of_downloads,action,sort,page,disp_order,filter_id,alpha_filter_id,currency
Set Auto Alias Status true
Set Category Separator /
Set default language identifier false

It works very well, but there is a redirection loop when I try to add a product from the category list.

there is only one book. when you try to add the book to the basket, you should be able to do it only once, then you get loop :(

Oh, btw it looks like SSU cuts the very first element of the path just after the site address :(

Hi! Wondering if you can help me with the ssu installation. I used this before and it worked very well when I was using my own webserver. Now I switched to a free hosting called 000hosted because my internet connection problem. I did a fresh install of zencart with their fantasio installer. I can't get ssu to work now. Anytime I click on simple seo url manager, it gives me a blank page and nothing more. I am wondering what was wrong.

The host does claim they support curl, although when I tried to install zencart manually, it gives me an error of no curl. So, I don't know whether that's something causing the problem. Not sure at all. Could you please help?

OK, I found a solution: I had to add "products_id" to Set Query Key's Exclude List. Now it works :) Have you any idea, why it was broken?

You will have to check if your host supports php5, and if so how to switch to it. BTW, I dont think running a store on a free server is a good idea.

First off - thanks for all the hard work you have put into this great add on. It's a brilliant bit of work.

I've installed Simple SEO URL and everything works perfectly. The trouble starts when I use my control panel to password protect my admin folder.

When I have password protection set up and try to log into my admin page I get a Page Not Found message.

If I don't have password protection set up on my admin folder then I can log in without any problems.

I contact my host initially and they looked into it and advised that the following lines from the Simple SEO .htaccess file are causing the problem:-

Theres a rewrite rule causing this in your root/.htaccess file. When I comment out the following lines the password box appears:

RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule .* - [L]

I've re enabled them for now.

Does anyone have any ideas if there is anything else I can do. From my hosts reply it's either use Simple SEO or password protected admin but not at the same time.

It seems strange because I have used Simple SEO and password protected folders in the past with no problems.

I'm using:-

Zen Cart 1.38a
Simple SEO 3.6.7

Dont comment those lines out like what your host suggested, but instead add in admin/.htaccess:

RewriteEngine Off

Here is what I have loaded.
Zencart 1.3.8a loaded.
SSU 3.6.7.
sitemapXML 2.1
google base froogle 1.7.1a

When I turn on "Set Auto Alias Status" and "Set Auto Alias Status", sitemapXML and google base froogle stop working. When I try to run step 1 in sitemapXML or try to create a feed, the pop up window comes up. The blank window looks like it runs for awhile then it stops. If I turn "Set Auto Alias Status" and "Set Auto Alias Status" off, sitemapXML and google base froogle starts to work again. I really like how the url looks like with the alias on. Why do they stop working with alias on?
