Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hi,

I have installed the files etc, and all seems fine, but now on the site, every page links to the same place. E.g. If you click on any product it just goes to main home page and you cant actually purchase anything or see the details on each product. I have followed everything to the letter!! What am i doing wrong?

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

countrycharm:

Try this php GET /the_exact_path_to_your/html/cron/ssu.php or ```php
GET http://yoursite.com/cron/ssu.php

Hooray! I found the issue and other newbies such as myself may want to know.

My file permissions in the sss.php file had to change from 777 to 644. After that, I just ran the command :

```php
wget http://www.yoursite.com/cron/ssu.php
For some reason, the regular GET command would not work.
Thank you country, yellow, and Chuck from PGR Creations. You all rock! :clap:
check your permissions are all set correctly, however I've had the same problem in the past and I now keep a backup ssu empty folder structure so if need be I can simply delete the folders and drag some empty ones to replace them.
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
Is there somewhere I can use the zen cart function:
zen_get_products_manufacturers_name()
to display the manufacturers name immediately before the products name in the url/link?
I did manage to edit the parseParam() function in /clases/ssu/plugins/parsers/products.php to include:
```php
$man = strtolower(zen_get_products_manufacturers_name($products_id));
                $man = str_replace(" ", "-", $man);
                $temp_params[1] = $man.'-'.self::getName($products_id, $languages_id, $languages_code);
```but the auto alias function doesn't work properly then.
ANy thoughts?
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
Does anyone know if Yellow1912(Raine) is still supporting this module? I've traced a problem that has just popped up with our website to the Simple SEO Module and was hoping to get some advice on it.
I see that the latest version is 3.5.8, and the version we have installed is Beta 3.6.1.
Read below
yellow1912:
Dear SP and other ZC members,
This module is kind of my personal contribution to the great ZC community. Due to my personal work life (I have recently moved to Japan and will stay here for a about 6 months), it has been really busy for me so I don't have much time to visit the Zencart forum anymore. In the mean time I won't be able to provide on-time support with non-bug problems here on the forum. (this goes for all the modules I have here).
If there is a serious bug with the module, please feel free to go to our website at rubikintegration.com and shoot me an email.
I will be back here as soon as I can.
Regards
Raine
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
HEy All,
I finally got a round to installing this module and i think i have done it correctly.
Just looking through whos online in the Admin area im noticing address paths like these:
/bmz_cache/zenra-videos-japan-free.html
And
/bmz_cache/little-caprice-download-pictures.html
I had a look in the bmz cache folder but these files dont exist?
What could this mean?
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
Hello,
I just installed SSU and everything has gone quite well. I did have a question, though. I use some internal anchor tags on my site within my FAQ to direct my visitors to a specific answer, like this
https://mysite.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=6#moneyback
to go to my answer about my money back guarantee.
The problem is that SSU changes that address to
https://mysite.com/faq
and completely removes the reference to my "#moneyback" anchor.
If I use "https://mysite.com/faq#moneyback" it works, so I suppose I could re-code all my links that reference internal anchors, but I'm wondering if there is some way to get SSU to pass on the internal anchor tags, or if it can't do that, if there is some way to get it to ignore links with the "#" symbol in them.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Alex
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
@everyone: if you are using the module and having problem, your best bet is to upgrade it, if the upgrade doesn't solve the problem, please post here with the detailed steps to re-produce the issue.
As I posted a while back, I have been re-allocated and life is really busy for me now so I cant help you with installation issue on the forum anymore. But real bugs will always be fixed.
Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]
yellow1912:
Huhm, I dont think it will take a "link" which contains query string in it. There is a way around but that has its own drawback:
  1. In the excluded query list, take out sort and filter id
  2. Now your link will look like this:
    paul-smith/sort/20a/filter_id/44
Now you sure can use that for alias
Regards
yellow1912,
On this post you mentioned there was a drawback but didn't describe what the drawback is?
I am keen to be able to set aliases for my filters. Is this still the only way, if so can you explain the drawback.
Many Thanks
Phil
If you change your categories/products names, or titles you will need to reset the cache to force SSU reload and update the names.
Just an update, I left my pc on overnight with a page from my site open in the browser. When I moved the mouse over the links they displayed on the status bar all correctly seo'd, but when I clicked on a link to another page on the site all the links on the status bar were now non seo links, I'm not sure why this is happening. I have three other sites running simple seo url version 3-5-8 with no problems so I may have to go back to using that version.
