Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Are you certain you have the latest updated version of the mod?

I think our developer foound that he had originally used a previous version and not the latest even though it hadn't been changed on the version number

regards

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hi Sounden

Yes our developer had uploaded the files that were called 3.8.5 but apparently there was an updated version that was still called 3.8.5 I think. When did you download the mod?
Sorry I can't help with the htaccess, best to check with the mod developer or wait for them to reply on here
regards

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hello. Is there a way to completely turn off this feature of the module:

"
Verifies and validates each URL

  1. If the user/visitor makes any mistake in the URL, SSU will redirect them to the correct page.

Example:
https://www.example.com/your-wrong-category-name-c-1/ to https://www.example.com/your-category-name-c-1/

Please note that this feature is only available if you don’t use auto-alias (in other words, it is only available if you leave the product, category ids in the links)

  1. Given the product_id in the link, SSU will find out the exact category tree this product should belong to.

  2. Given the category_id in the link, SSU will find out the exact category tree this category should belong to.

  3. Several modules are known to use the wrong product type to generate product links, SSU will get the correct product type for all product links. This is VERY IMPORTANT to get the correct layout for the product info page."

We have auto-aliasing off to deal with another bug that kept arising, so we can't just turn it back on.

The problem's that come up is that I'm trying to use a google analytics feature that allows more in-depth tracking of individual users, and it requires a special URL that looks something like this:

http://blargiddityblarg.com/?utm_source=blacrg&utm_medium=blahdiblah&utm_campaign=blah

when I try to navigate to the site like that, the URL becomes this instead:

http://blargiddityblarg.com/index/utm_source/blacrg/utm_medium/blahdiblah/utm_campaign/blah

I'm not absolutely positive, but I think it's that feature of simple SEO URL that's causing it. I want to turn it off to see if that's case.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

How did you get this seo mod to work on a ZC 1.5 even just a little bit? Last I looked, this mod was not being updated for the new 1.5 ZC

I just followed the instructions in the most recent version.

Uploaded files, and edited/created the .htaccess file where needed.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

I couldn't get Simple SEO to install at all on a demo 1.5 site (demo since deleted).

Your URL's now look like they might be Ultimate SEO URL, which does work on every 1.5 site I've tried it on.

But I guess many say that we're better off without these rewriter mods...and far less problems.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

tdeviant:

I believe I am using Ultimate URLS which i downloaded from here.

The products work fine but cannot get the other links to work:

http://totallyshowers.co.uk/shop/specials.html

http://totallyshowers.co.uk/shop/dvd-movies-c-3.html

Bear with it as I am currently trying to get to the bottom of this. Then you should direct your posts to the support thread for Ultimate URLS. You are posting in a support thread for a completely different SEO add-on..

I don't answer support questions via PM. Post add-on support questions in the support thread. The question & the answer will benefit others with similar issues.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Bseduced.com:

After trying to install this module months and months ago, I got frustrated and gave up on it. The other day I decided to give it another shot, and I'm so, so close to getting it to work right, but I just can't seem to get it there. After an exhaustive and exhausting search of this support thread, I've finally decided to ask for help directly.

The core problem I'm having is that additional images no longer work with Simple SEO turned on. I know this has been covered in previous posts, and I've checked the Exclude List in the Configuration panel, and it's exactly as it should be. For some reason it seems as if the Exclude List isn't working. This led me to check the config.php file. In it, the lines of code dealing with the two exclusion lists are commented out:

When I tried to uncomment these lines, the site throws a 500 error. This led to an investigation into the .htaccess file which, again, looks exactly as it should, according to the installation instructions and ssu_check.php.

So I'm officially out of ideas. If anybody else has experienced and solved this problem or maybe knows what I'm failing to notice, I would be extremely grateful.

Hey I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but I think I am making some headway. First of all I had Simple SEO installed and running just fine in 1.38, and it continues to run in 1.50. The problem is there are no menus. In order to manage aliases, I go to the link . . . examplesite.com/admin/ssu.php (note: I use this for other mods that are not 'menu certified' for 1.50, seems to work in many cases). However that still did not allow me to exclude additional pages . . . . with Bseduced's comments about EXCLUDE, I finally found where this silly exclude list resides - examplesite.com/includes/init_includes/init_ssu.php. From there I could just add my new (exclude) string to the list on or about line 26 . . . . seems to be working (crosses fingers) . . .

I have one site using Simple SEO and tried a similar workaround on a 1.5 test site. Didn't work. But perhaps yours will.

I went to your site to see if it has the back button/page not found problem SOME of my sites had with Simple SEO and Ultimate SEO. Yours did. Go to a product, click on Ask a Question. Then hit back button from Ask a Question to return to product: goes to page not found in IE9. Didn't check my other browsers.

Same issue if go to product, then Contact Us, then hit back button at bottom of Contact Us.

Primarily an issue if, during checkout, you send customer to Conditions page. If customer hits Conditions back button at bottom, may become lost.
