Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Just as an FYI, I had one Manufacturer named M&M Scraps and the drop worked for all others but her, her's took me to one of my products and not her listing....was the same product every time LOL just not the right place.

I changed it to MnM Scraps and it now works the way it should....so it's that tricky & symbol that threw it off :)

That is also one of the reasons that I moved the parsing function out as a plugin so others who are interested in improving the way it parses the names can make the changes and well, share those changes here. Lets look forward to it.

PS: seems like the order went thru.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Thank you. And I'm glad to announce that there is a hot fix now for sites that support Russian language.

It may not be perfect yet, but at least it will display the category name on the link clearly.
HOWEVER, HOWEVER, there IS a drawback: it does work on FF, it just does not work on IE (we use the same encoding technique wiki uses, see http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki)

And also, because it is encoded this way, it will NOT help with search engine.

Anyhow, this is update is recommended for those who support multi-langs.

I think in the next version I will give you another option here: you can tell SSU to always use english names.

I'm also open to suggestion here, if you have experience working with utf-8 url please share it here.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Okie, so I was a bit careless. I found out there is a minor bug in the version I posted above, which I fixed.

I also added support for ezpage, so it will no longer be page/id/9, it will be contact-us_page_5, something like that.(your ezpage title + the identifier + page id)

Now, just in case you have not noticed yet, we always have a special character/string right after each product/category/manufacturer/page name. These are called "identifiers"

You can change these identifiers (-c-, -p-, -n-, -page-, .....) to whatever you want. Just be very careful, you don't want these identifiers to appear in other pages you have (go to includes/modules/pages and check all the folder names there, if you already have a folder named this-category-one then you don't want to have an identifier like this: -category-

Now if you decide to change these identifiers, go to includes/init_includes/init_ssu.php, you will see those defined around line 29-50, you can make the changes you want. After that you will have to go admin and clear cache.

These setting will be moved outside of the core file latter to make it easier for you.

Hi Yellow If I have ezpages that show page/id/9 then I would need to update to this version to correct that problem. Thank in advance.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Yup, if you want it to show the title, this will be the first version to support it.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Since installing simple SEO url (which works great for it's purpose!), no one can perform searchs on my store anymore. Be it the normal sidebox search, or an advance search.

Help?

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Yellow when I updated to the latest version this is the error I'm getting. When I Go to admin-extras-ssu manager

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/content/x/x/x/xxxxxxxxx/html/includes/classes/ssu/languages/default.php on line 5
When I click on the online catalog from admin it gives me a blank page again, or when you go to the main site here

I have cleared my catch when I updated. I think it has to do with the extra language files witch I do not need anyway.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

I suspect you are not using php5, note that ZC will release a PHP5 only version soon. Anyhow, I will release a version of ssu that works in php4 today

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Yellow,
I had an issue with advanced search results page last week, which we successfully fixed with your latest version. I have just noticed now though that the search function works fine, brings up results, but if you actually click on the resulting product, it creates a 404 error.
The URL it tries to load is as follows...

http://www.starlightmobiles.com/%c/button-problem-blackberry-6720-g-51807

when it should actually be...

http://www.starlightmobiles.com/button-problems-blackberry-c-3_1186_1196/button-problem-blackberry-6720-g-51807

It is ignoring the category within the URL.

The same occurs if you click on a product from the shopping cart.

It seems that unless you access the product through the category itself, the category part of the URL is replaced by /%c/

Any ideas?

I have cleared cache, but no luck!

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Sorry to bump, URL's wouln't, and are essential to the post...

Should be...

http:// https://www.starlightmobiles.com / button-problems-blackberry-c-3_1186_1196 / button-problem-blackberry-6720-g-51807

but the category part, button-problems-blackberry-c-3_1186_1196,

is being replaced by /%c/

Dont know what version you are using, but you can see my latest on the demo and such issue does not show up. I will repost that later today for you to download to see if that fix the problem.

Re: Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Note: Please do not update if you are not experiencing any problem!

This version includes support for php4.
If your host is on php4

  1. Please go to includes/init_includes/init_ssu.php and rename it to init_ssu.php5
    then rename includes/init_includes/init_ssu.php4 to init_ssu.php

  2. Do the same for all files in includes/classes/ssu/languages

Im sorry for the inconvenience, but I want to upgrade the class to php5 to take advantage of several new features.

PS: if the php4 version doesnt work for you, please pm me with the detailed error
