FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

kuroi:

But CKEditor is just soo much better. Not least in the look and speed, but more importantly in the quality of the HTML that it generates.

I like giving my clients the image and file upload function... all of them use it. I hope someone fix's the fckeditor sometime in the future.

CKEditor and FCKeditor

FCKeditor has been around for more than six years. Since 2003 it has built a strong user community becoming the most used editor in the market, accumulating more than 3,5 million downloads. In 2009, we decided to rename the editor, bringing to light the next generation of our software: CKEditor 3.0.

CKEditor inherits the quality and strong features people were used to find in FCKeditor, in a much more modern product, added by dozens of new benefits, like accessibility and ultimate performance.

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

Not sure I understand any of this. My CKEditor has the source button top left. On the rare occasions that I use an HTML editor, I usually check the code with that.

That said I'm not aware of any specific reason which FCKEditor wouldn't work on a clean install of Zen Cart or with PHP 5.3, but there are mods which core files and impede it - OzPost has been cited above.

But CKEditor is just soo much better. Not least in the look and speed, but more importantly in the quality of the HTML that it generates.

sorry it does have a sourse button i needed to clear cache as it was still showing the html area

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

Hi,

Does anyone have any info in regard to the latest version CKEditor working on ZC ver 1.38?

I also am having the problem of a serious conflict with my FCKeditor and the OZ post new version module.

I have read here upgrading the FCK to the latest/last supported version does not fix the problem of garbled code where there was once WYSIWYG in the product description page.

Will CKEditor fix this annoying problem.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I love Zencart!

If you have had a problem with your FCKeditor after installing the latest OZ post module, see below:

I uploaded the latest version of CKEditor and all problems from FCKEditor were fixed. On ZC version 1.38a.

I agree this is essential. You can enable it ckeditor

In /ckeditor/plugins/image/dialogs/image.js find this "id:'Upload',hidden:true"

change it to "id:'Upload',hidden:false"

the upload button appears.

However i dont think the ck zen cart addon has been configured to use it....so you will get an internal server error.

I am using FCK editor addon because it has these features which make it much better then the ck addon at this time.

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

just a comment: I am using v1.3.9d today and FCKeditor seems to be fine on the item editor but problem remains in the /admin/ezpages.php; I did a file comparison and found it was ok to replace this file with the 1.3.8a /admin/ezpages.php and this fixed the problem.

Maybe zencart have fixed the problem with FCKeditor in the latest version, I will see when I use it.

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

Hi,

I'm using CKEditor v3.4 and have recently updated my store to v1.3.9g. CKE worked perfectly with my previous 1.3.9f ZC version... but now It's giving me some issues: When I edit a page via admin>tools>define pages editor>chosen page here the editor works as expected (as it did in 1.3.9f) I then click update, go to the page I just edited on my site for instance /index.php?main_page=contact_us - the page appears as the pure html - see screenshot attached.

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

I have gotten the editor loaded, but the problem I am having is that when trying to load a photo, upload to server, the editor just keeps "thinking", trying to load i guess. I eventually have to close the box.

Any ideas. I am trying to load photos on the on the main page (define_main_page)

I am using the lastest ZC 1.39g. it says it is for 1.38.?? If it will not work, can you suggest one that will?

thanks!!

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

On newer versions of ZenCart, there's an .htaccess file in the editors folder that causes problems with this plugin. I'm not sure right now what needs to be done for the security side of things, but deactivating the .htaccess file will allow this plugin to work.

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

I'm currently using the original HTMLarea editor and wondering if FCKeditor will do the trick in fixing some of the formatting issues that I currently have with the old editor. In short, the content I type n doesn't match what the customer sees. When I add a bulleted list, the bullets show up but they do not indent to the right a bit. It shows right when in WYSIWYG mode, but when viewed in a browser, the bulleted list is not indented at all.
Creating content in the HTMLarea editor is painful and very slow. I need an editor that is true WYSIWYG. Is FCKeditor it?

Thanks for any help.

---Mike

FCKeditor definitely creates better html; although I think from memory HTMLarea creates ok UL/LI code / bullets
so maybe there is something in your CSS that is removing the bullet indent; maybe will happen with any editor..

CKeditor maybe better also.

Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

Moving from HTMLEditor to FCKEditor is moving from a very out-of-date editor to one that is just out-of-date.

Why not go to CKEditor, the successor editor to FCKEditor by the same developers.

or to use an automobile analogy.. (because I am a car girl..)

Replacing HTMLEditor with FCKEditor is like trading in an Edsel (which has been out of production since 1960) for a Pinto (which has been out of production since 1980)

Why not JUNK your Edsel or Pinto and get a NEW 2011 Mustang instead?? (this is what replacing HTMLEditor or FCKEditor with the latest version of CKEditor would be..)
