I commented out the line at the end of index.php - I gather that they shodudn't be there. Please confirm in case they may affect functionality...

As far as the slow loading of the product pages in Firefox this didn't help...

It is bad code and thus broke ... no clue what all it may or may not be doing but I doubt it is anything good ...

Re: Slow site loading - try my site pls.

Ajeh, would you have any idea what may be causing slow product pages in Firefox (IE is OK). I did remove the code you pointed to but it didn't help my slow loading in Firefox problem...

Re: Slow site loading - try my site pls.

One thing that slows sites down are missing images ...

   1. http://www.all4coffee.com/includes/templates/iC_AcadameV1.2/images/orangeboxHeadingbg.gif
   2.
   3. http://www.all4coffee.com/includes/templates/iC_AcadameV1.2/images/blank.gif
   4. http://www.all4coffee.com/includes/templates/iC_AcadameV1.2/images/blank.gif

As a test ...

1 Switch to Classic Template ... how much faster are you?

Switch back your template ...

2 turn off the Header ... how much faster are you?

3 turn off the Footer ... how much faster are you?

4 turn off the Left Column ... how much faster are you?

Thanks, Ajeh for the testing ideas, I will do this tomorrow... Also where do you check (how can you tell?) for the missing images? I would love to know for future reference.

Happy New Year to you!

Re: Slow site loading - try my site pls.

FireFox has some nifty features ... I think this thing is in the Web Developer something or another add-on for it ...

Dontcha love it when I get all techie on you?!

Good news, the add on has the words:
Web
Developer

in it and it's really popular so you should be able to find it ...

Firebug is another nice add on for it ...

One of those has nifty little tools on the menu to peek at stuff like that and I knew something was there for images and tripped over that one when looking at your site ... :smartalec:

Saw it a few times before ... but never can remember just what thing-a-ma-bob I pushed to get these little fellows to tell me this simple stuff ... :lamo:

I just installed the Web Developer... At this point I'm not sure if I should thank you for this tip... WOW
156 things to check and to correct. I'm surprised that my store is working at all. But I do thank you - tool like this was a long time overdue (for me):no:

Re: Slow site loading - try my site pls.

Now I see these:

  1. http://www.all4coffee.com/includes/templates/iC_AcadameV1.2/images/orangeboxHeadingbg.gif
    2. http://www.espressotop50.com/et50/image.php?id=all4coff
    3. https://www40.ssldomain.com/all4coffee/images/chai.png
    4. https://www40.ssldomain.com/all4coffee/images/gotespresso.gif

Calls to bad images can create a lot of slowness ...

Calls to missing images can create endless loops that will slow things down ... no I cannot explain this well ... but it is an error calling an error that loads the error that calls the error that loads the error ... etc. etc. etc. because of missing images ...

Try to:

1 remove those images

2 load the images even if the images are junk just so there is something to load

See if that helps ...

I will test tomorrow by removing the images you listed. Could you tell me what exactly makes them "bad images"? And they are not missing... When I click on the links -they all seem to display and load fine. ??? So I know what criteria of a "bad image" is.

It is odd ... sometimes they come up as broken and other times not ...

I don't know that this would have any affect on this issue, but it is worth a stab ... could you try turning on GZip in the Configuration ... GZip settings ...

I have been working with my new toy you recommended, the Website Developer and slowly getting rid of validation errors. So far it didn't help with Firefox slow loading of product pages...

I already did turn on Gzip, doesn't seem to help in my case.

Is is better to have it on anyway?

Re: Slow site loading - try my site pls.

Looking at an earlier part of this thread you said pages loaded ok in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox. Well I've just tried your product pages using both IE 7 and Firefox and although Firefox is dreadfully slow to load it's even worse in IE 7.

In IE 7 I gave up at the point it stalled loading, clicked the Stop button and then did a View Source of the code that had been parsed. It stopped at this point:

<div id="featuredContent" class="sideBoxContent centeredContent"

Re: Slow site loading - try my site pls.

It's not your images that are the problem. I disabled loading of all images in Firefox and it still loaded just as slowly.

Did #1, #2 & #4 above - no improvement. Still slow loading product pages in Firefox... I have no clue how to turn off the footer...

The problem lays in the code (somewhere) so changing hosts will make no difference at all.

Vger

If I load one of the product pages with Firefox such as this:

http://www.capresso-store.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=138

it starts loading fast but towards the end the loading indicator visibly hangs there for a little bit too long.

I may have found what is causing at least part of the 'loading pause' at the end. I decided to monitor the file access that takes place when a page is loaded. At the end of the load process, the server starts looping around 'File Not Found' events, eventually stops, then the page is loaded. This is happening after making a call to the following file which does not exist on my site.

\includes\modules\pages\product_info\builder.js

This only happens on all the product pages. It does not happen when viewing the index page. Which leads me to believe this is why there is the load delay on the product page an not the index page.

I read that builder.js is not a part of ZenCart but possibly it is called by HoverBox or Image Handler. I carefully examined all original files of those add-ons buth builder.js is not there...

Would anyone have an idea what's calling builder.js and where can I find it? The store is functioning, I got rid of 95% of my validation errors and I feel that the builder.js issue is the key to my loading problem.
