Blog Integration Contribution

Was I mistaken in assuming the WOZ integration used Zen Cart for the WP login?
Simple answer is YES, you are mistaken.
Seperate membership is required even if WordPress is integrated into zencart.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Misty -
I found this entry here for "zencart -and-wordpress-integration" at
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/zencart-and-wordpress-user-integration/
Its apparent purpose is to replace the WP login and use ZC's...

It requires WOZ to be installed first...
but you caution it places too great a load on the server...

Our intention is not to create blog entries within ZC. We are satisfied merely to display a feed. However, it is very important to us to share a common login...

If our customer has been shopping/browsing, and wants to participate in a discussion, we don't want to require another annoying login process...

...Hope you can help! You have been great assistance to me thus far!

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hey all, great plugin! I have it working in a very simple fashion by taking the last line from the carp install screen and just throwing it in my main page via the define pages editor. However, obviously it is not effected by css and the other wonderful formatting that you have setup with the Zen Cart blog integration.

My question is - what is the step between installing CaRP and getting rss feeds to show up on your main page? Should the blog module appear someplace in the admin settings? Or do I have to go into a file and add some lines someplace to load up the blog module?

What I want to do is have on my index page be my latest blog entry followed by the new products module.

Thanks!

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Step 5 in the installation instructions has you editing tpl_blog_default.php; to do what you want, follow these instructions with tpl_index_default.php.

If using Zencart Wordpress mod, enter following code into define_main_page.php

<?php
require('./wp-blog-header.php');
?><?php
$posts = get_posts('numberposts=3'); // change to whatever number of posts to show
foreach($posts as $post) :
setup_postdata($post);
?>
<h2><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h2>
<?php the_date(); ?>
<?php the_content(); ?><hr />
<?php endforeach; ?>

as shown at

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hi,

I have tried to install this and I'm at Step 4, page 2 of the installation instructions. Instead of getting the newsfeed at the top of the page in the grey box I'm getting this:

Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /home/www/mysite.co.uk/carp/carp/carp.php on line 329.

So i looked in the carp.php file and this is whats in line 329:
list($hour,$min)=explode(':',$carpconf['cachetime']);

I'm not a php expert so would really like some help with this.

Thanks,
Gina

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

I am attempting to use CaRP to show a RSS feed on my website. During setup it asks me to enter the feed which I cut and paste directly in (http://rss.api.ebay.com/ws/rssapi?FeedName=StoreItems&siteId=0&language=en-US&output=RSS20&storeId=35479). I am getting an error: **HTTP test connection failed.
**Either rss.api.ebay.com returned status code 404 or the HTTP session failed completely.
Any idea of what I am doing wrong. RSS is new to me and I can use all the help available. Thanks. Rick https://www.ilovefilms.com

I could be way off here, but what the heck. Thought might jump in and give it a shot.

Go to your Google Reader where it shows the feeds you have subscribed too.

Assuming you have subscribed to your own feed, your website will be in the list of sites.

At the very bottom left of the page, you will see "manage subscriptions".

Go there and compare the feed you pasted to the feed that is shown on the subscriptions page.

Just a thought......

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

To uninstall it, follow the install directions in reverse.

If you only want to post a single article, this is probably overkill. Just put a link to the article in a sidebox or something.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Good mod, thanks, I have this working successfully on my test site. I have a stupid question though. The very first link on the feed is the actual blog link, but it's styled the same as the article links and I'd like to keep this separated... or could I omit the first blog link altogether somehow? Does that make any sense at all? Cheers.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

I'm pretty sure that's one of the settings in CaRP. Check out the documentation on CarpConf calls.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hi again, I have two questions. 1) I have copied the code into tpl_categories.php and a "blog" link is showing up... but can you please confirm what the code is to insert a break between sidebox menu items? I have taken a guess and put the following in, but I wanted to be sure:

   }
  }
  $content .= '<br />' . "\n";
  $content .= '<a class="category-links" href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_BLOG) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_BLOG . '</a>' .  '<br />' ."\n";
  $content .= '</div>';
?>
  1. I am trying to work out how to edit the page title from "Blog" to "News". Can you please help me out with that?

My site is in my signature - thanks in advance!

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hey Software guy,

hope you can help on this one. My client using blogger and it seems like blogger has added some code that now gets displayed as plain text using your CARP module

see here

this is the code that now shows up right at the end of the posted text.

div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='http://res1.blogblog.com/tracker/399765980113976405-1593825865213139944?l=wwwitshiptobegreen.blogspot.com'//div

Seems like this is something new that blogger has added and for some reason it only shows up using your module.

you can see the blog here: http://mypumpkindoodle.com/store/index.php?main_page=blog

thanks

John

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hi Guys,

I'm using Wordpress 2.9.2 hosted on my server like this - http://www.mysite.com/blog/ is their a way I can use this contribution to intergrate the current blog into the store ?

The reason I'm asking is because although the current blog is ok it doesn't really match the rest of the site - where as with this contrib everythings intergrated into the store - in keeping with the general look, color scheme, sidebars and header etc..

I know I could feed the current blog into this contirb via CaRP but I don't want duplicate content and effectively 2 blogs if you understand what I'm saying.

Thanks for any responses :smile:

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

I don't understand what you're saying. This contrib allows you to display the blog's content on your store. That's all.
