Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hi! i succesfully uploaded the mod in my test site

here

and also done this

If you want to display a link to your blog in the Categories sidebox, modify the file includes/templates/custom/sideboxes/tpl_categories.php and add

$content .= '<a class="category-links" href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_BLOG) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_BLOG . '</a>' . '<br />' ."\n";

just before the closing div.

now i am trying to remove the word "blog" beside the all products.. check my site here but can't find the tutorial

instead of this. All Products ... Blog

it should be only. All Products

i still have not tested the whole functionality of this mod but it looks promising and i want to subscribe to carp evolution..

Thanks!

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hey! Thanks for making this plugin! I'm having a problem though (sorry, I'm a noob at RSS).

Only the channel and blog titles are showing on the receiving Zen cart site with blog integration installed:

http://dymaxion.fm/

Whereas, the Wordpress rss feed coming from my wordpress site also contains text and image content.

http://dymaxion.fm/blog/?feed=rss2

How do I get that text and image content into my receiving site/blog integration reader?

Thanks!

Tom

I packaged the publicly available Starter Edition of CaRP. To get these features you need to upgrade to CaRP Evolution.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Ah! Ok, gotcha.

Thanks for the quick response!

So what does your blog integration do that the standard carp doesn't? The blog in the boxes? That's pretty cool, I gotta tell you.

Anything else?

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Hey, thanks!

As a noob to Zen Cart, I'm experiencing a difference between using your blog integration on a PHP page I created in the roo directory of my server and in Zen Cart:

I installed Carp Evolution and on the PHP page I created in the root directory of my site, I've got the rss converting to HTML quite nicely, including the <description> that was a problem before.

However, when I go back into Zen Cart and go into Admin > Tools > Define Pages Editor > Define_Main_Page.PHP and insert the exact same code, it only shows the blog post titles and links.

I'm guessing this is an issue with Zen Cart, but I just started using it this week and I'm not sure where to begin solving the problem.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Define pages are just html, not PHP.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Oh! That seems odd, because it's able to pull in the titles.

In any case, what would be the recommended method of getting the full feed onto my home page?

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

I followed all the instructions on your homepage and it's still not working. The only deviation I've made is steps 2 and three in the install because there was no page 2 or three in my install. After page one, the installer told me my install was successful.

Perhaps the Carp Evolution installer has changed, or perhaps my install did not work properly, the latter I doubt because I didn't see any warnings on the installation complete page.

I notice that you recommend a change to the tpl_blog_default.php file. I'm guessing that this is the file that will display the blog posts on the homepage? I've made the change and placed the file under the template system (classic) that I'm using, and also tried it under the /includes/templates/template_default template set.

Still nothing shows up on my homepage.

Do you have any documentation that explains the file structure, or how this works?

I read the Read me first.html and I've been reading

http://www.thatsoftwareguy.com/zencart_blog_integration.html

And I'm not finding the answers I need on that page.

Basically, I need to know: how does the blog appear on my home page? What do I do after I install so that it shows up on my homepage?

Thanks!

THT

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

OK, the answer is:

If you want this to work, and stream an RSS feed on your blog on your homepage:

Take the code from tpl_blog_default.php and put it in tpl_index_default.php and now Blog Integration works.

Ta da.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

I came across this page looking for some type of Blog I could add to my site so that I'd have a "Blog" link across the top of my page that customers could click on and post questions on this page. Then, I could sign into my control panel and answer questions that would be posted on this page. I'm told that doing this can help your organic search results a good bit. However, this mod doesn't quite sound like what I'm looking for. Any recommendations?

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

I installed Blog Integration on Zencart (Carp), but, in the Blog Page, the right column disappeared.

I would like to keep that column visible, like in all other pages.

Can someone help me, please?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

Nevermind. I solved my own problem. Nobody answered anyway.

It was a table tag that was preventing the right column to appear.

Noone answered because it was impossible to know what you did wrong - you didn't supply a URL.

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

It's working OK now.

Just tell me one thing: is it normal that it takes a while (8 seconds) till the HTML appear?

I uploaded the CaRP folder to the root - can it be the cause of delay?

Copy

includes/templates/YOUR_OLD_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_blog_default.php

into

Re: Blog Integration Contribution

I don't know if that has been asked:

My Blogger blog is multilingual, and when it's been displayed with the mod in zen cart 1.3.9h, all accented characters show in question marks. All pages in my Store are utf-8.

Any way to fix this?
