Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
If it is working on one site on the server and not the other, then it is unlikely to be either the server or IH3 that is causing the problem
on the non-working site
1) What lightbox are you using (full name and version)?, try to get imagehandler 3 working before adding any light box mod
2) what are the permissions on your images folder
3) What are the permissions on your bmz_cache folder
4) are any files/folders being created within the bmz_cache folder?
can you confirm that these files are on your server
includes/modules/ArtSite/main_product_image.php
includes/functions/extra_functions/functions_bmz_image_handler.php
What happens if you delete the .htaccess file in the bmz_cache?

1) Zen Lightbox 1.6.2/
2) 777 inherited from what I can tell. I've been having issues with GoDaddy on getting their FTP client up, as I don't quite trust Filezilla yet. As soon as I get phone service back, I plan to call them and fix this. Filezilla tells me this is the permission, though.
3) 777 inherited, again.
4) No files are being created in the bmz_cache folder.
includes/modules/ArtSite/main_product_image.php is on my website.
includes/functions/extra_functions/functions_bmz_image_handler.php is also on my website.
I deleted .htaccess from my website, cleared the cache on my browser, went back to my website and looked around. .htaccess is still gone, and watermarks are not showing.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
FileZilla is far more trustworthy than Godaddy's FTP program.
Next, try navigating to your site with FileZilla and deleting all the folders and files in the bmz_cache folder, leaving only the bmz_cache folder itself and the index file.
Then clear your browser cache again and take a look.
Once that's done, please come back and report on results.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
You might want to keep the .htaccess and .keep as well although they may not be visible depending on your Filezilla settings.

Woops, my bad. I meant the .keep file but I typed index file. Do get rid of the .htaccess file though, because we're troubleshooting to see if that's causing the issue as it has occasionally for others.
So, to clarify what I posted previously....navigate to your site's directory using your FileZilla and delete all the files and folders inside the bmz_cache folder except for the .keep file.
Then clear your browser cache, visit your website and see if your images are watermarked and being served from the bmz_cache folder, and then please report your findings back here.
If this solves your issue, you can create a new .htaccess file by opening an MS Notepad blank file, and then copy/pasting the required info in there. Save it as .htaccess and upload it to the bmz_cache folder. (You can get the required info from the original .htaccess file that came with the download pack).
Don't ask why this works. None of us have been able to figure out why it works or why it's an issue for some folks to begin with.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
There was nothing in my bmz_cache folder (except the .keep file), and I deleted the .htaccess file a few posts ago. I restarted my browser and cleared my cache, but no help.
I'm really wondering if it's a permission issue. When I try to change permissions with Filezilla, I'm noticing it gives me an error. This is why I'm trying to get the FTP client on Go Daddy working, just for permission.
I'm going to check this out before I waste anymore of your time. If I get it working and the permissions are correct, I'll post here and let you know and ask for more suggestions.

it is never a waste of time when you help us help you...lol
you can check the folder permissions by going to your cpanel at godaddy then choosing to see file manager..it lists all the files/folders on your server then you can change the ppermissions from 755 to 777 or the other way around depending on host

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
OMG! FINALLY!
The problem: bmz_cache folder had the wrong permissions. I also reuploaded my .htaccess file, too.
I just got off the phone with GoDaddy. They fixed my account so that I could get on my FTP client. Filezilla was telling me the wrong permissions. Once I fixed that, it all works great.
Thank you all for your patience and I am SO sorry to waste your time this way. Thank you so much for helping me get through this!!!!!!!

Filezilla was likely giving you the wrong information because your host doesn't allow you to change permissions using your FTP client. (tsk tsk..) I have NEVER had issue changing permissions using ANY FTP client EXCEPT for the few clients I have that are still hosted on GoDaddy.. As I recall this is a HALLMARK of GoDaddy permissions issues..
You really should consider another web host.. GoDaddy is KNOWN for these kinds of issues among others.. **shrugs**

Hi,
I tried to install this addon, but I am constantly getting this message inside the Chrome web inspector :
"Resource interpreted as image but transferred with MIME type text/html."
The image that is listed with the message is not visible in the browser (broken img icon).
many thanks...

I know that folks get annoyed when I re-post this.. but honestly this is the SAME information/steps that the support contributors here ALWAYS take folks through whenever they ask for help here.. (see recent posts for evidence of this) So there really is a reason why this troubleshooting list was put together..
From Page 1 of this support thread:
Quote:
[FONT=Tahoma]
BEFORE[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]
YOU POST A SUPPORT QUESTION HERE READ THROUGH THIS SECTION (this is from the Image Handler readme file):
Troubleshooting Basics [/FONT] [FONT=Tahoma]
[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]
Make sure your custom template is active. (Admin > Tools > Template Selection)
[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]
Make sure Image Handler 3 is installed. Admin > Tools > Image Handler3 > Admin. Set permissions in both your images and bmz_cache folders to 755 (eg: both of these folders need to have the same permissions. For some webhosts you may have to set these permissions to 777).
[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]
If Image Handler 3 does not work or gives you errors:
[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Make sure all files are in correct location[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Make sure you uploaded ALL the Image Handler 3 files [/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Make sure the files are not corrupt from bad FTP transfers[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Make sure your file merge edits are correct[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]MAKE SURE YOU RE-READ THE CONFIGURATION AND USAGE SECTIONS!!![/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Make sure that there are no javascript conflicts from other programs[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Make sure that your main product image files names DO NOT contain any special characters
ie: non-alphanumeric characters such as
/ \ : ! @ # $ % ^ < > , [ ] { } & * ( ) + =
Always use proper filenaming practices when naming your images - See this document as a reference: [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]http://www.records.ncdcr.gov/erecords/filenaming_20080508_final.pdf\[/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]
When posting bugs/issues about[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]
Image Handler 3, it's a WHOLE LOT more helpful to resolve them if you post details. Just saying "it's broken" or "doesn't work" does not provide nearly enough information to help YOU resolve YOUR issue.
Please provide as MUCH information as possible including:
[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]The version of Zen Cart you are running[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]The version of Image Handler 3 you are running (you can see this by going to “Admin > Tools > Image Handler3” – the version is displayed in the upper left hand side)[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Any other add-ons you may have also installed[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Hosting/server information (PHP versions, mySQL versions, hosting provider etc)[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]The EXACT error/issue you are experiencing [/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]AND if you're REALLY detail oriented, tell us the install sequence/method you used to install Image Handler 3.[/FONT]
- [FONT=Tahoma]Post a link (not a screen print) to a specific product/product listing page where the issue you are experiencing can be seen (Please DO NOT make folks fish through your site looking for an example of your issue)
AND this last point is important.. The volunteers who help here need to SEE what you see LIVE. A screenprint really isn’t good enough.[/FONT]

adding to what Diva says, we do need to see the page!
1) Does the image show in other browsers
2) Are the other product images on the site working
3) Does the original image have an uppercase file extension eg image.JPG, and what happens if you replace the image with one with a lowercase extension
4) Did the image show before installing Image handler?
5) What happens if you change
Admin --> configuration --> IH small images filetype
from no_change to jpg
and do the same for
Admin --> configuration --> IH medium images filetype
Admin --> configuration --> IH medium large filetype

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Hi guys
I'm experiencing a 500 internal error with my site caused by this module. Products prior to this module are working correctly.
Also my admin/image_handler.php page is blank (500 internal error page). I have gone through the readme again and usage instructions and can't spot anything I've done wrong. Have reuploaded this file and its still the same, I'm guessing my problems are stemming from this.
Any ideas??
Working Link: hawaiian-shirts.co.uk/hawaiian-shirts/blue-surfing-in-hawaii
Error page: hawaiian-shirts.co.uk/hawaiian-shirts/ <-- doesn't work as it includes new products which have error.
This also caused a 500 error on the front page as it displayed new products, I've had to remove that for the meantime.
Thanks.
EDIT: Btw, no error logs in /cache or cpanel error logs and my /bmz_cache contains files/folders

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Most likely it is either a permissions error or an error with a corrupted .htaccess file..
Quote:
Interference with an .htaccess file
If you have implemented .htaccess on your site, it may be interfering with the web page you are trying to load into your browser. Please double check the .htaccess configurations to ensure that it doesn’t contain any errors.
To confirm whether a misconfiguration .htaccess is the cause of the 500 Internal Server error, either remove or rename the .htaccess file temporarily and then try to reload the page.
Using your FTP software delete EVERYTHING in your bmz_cache folder and rename the .htaccess file (remove theleading "." and rename it to something like htaccess.txt)
Check your folder permissions for the bmz_cache folder.
Check the permissions of the folders/files IH3 generates within the bmz_cache folder. If there are permissions error you may have to work with your hosting company. (See recent posts here on this matter)

Thanks for looking into this for me. I've tried as you suggested and deleted everything in bmz_cache and renamed htaccess but still no fix. Contents of bmz_cache are coming through as CHMod 755 --- would that cause the 500 error?

try chmodding it to 777 and see if that helps
Are you sure that you put all files into their proper places and used the one that is common for both lightbox/ih3 (using the one from lightbox v6
I was wondering -- at first I thought lightbox was not working then I see that the image is huge...is that your intention or did you not set a size in its configuration too.
-
Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
I've chmodding the folder and all containing files to 777 but it still did not make a difference.
I do not think its an issue with lightbox as it also caused a 500 internal error on my front page when products which have had its images through IH are shown in the featured products box.
Regarding the HUGE images, that was what they were uploaded as, IH would have solved this using the sizes I specified in the config but as I've disabled it for now (until this is resolved). Will have to manually edit the images if I can't solve this.
Thank you for looking at this too! :bigups:

1)
No, Image handler is basically a php script, most people don't upload massive image over a megabyte (the images you have are photographic quality not web optimised), in all likelyhood image handler is choking (timing out) on the sheer size of the images/ one of your images is 1.3 MB (1,305,878 bytes) in size,
Basically what you could try is, saving those images for the web normally that would mean they are about 10-20% of the filesize but they still look the same on a monitor.
Image handler will create all 3 sizes but the problem is "possibly" that the raw file is so big that the script is timing out before completeing.
This does happen ocasionally and it is normally down to either really large raw files or something corrupted
2)
What version of Imagehandler are you using, and what version of Zencart?
3)
Did you get the admin/imagehandler.php page working, because this is where image handler is installed from, and from what you say you seem to have installed it

note the errors will be in the /cache folder not the /bmz_cache folder

please try checking once more to see that all files for IH3 were manually uploaded to their correct folders.
then go to admin/tools/ih3/admin link and not only clear the cache but uninstall it. then install it again...sometimes that helps.
I have 1200x1200 images in some spots in my store and they even without ih any version at the time were showing properly in the light box window...may be a setting that is wrong cause there should be no 500 error if things are cmodded and uploaded properly...
you might even while checking reupload the files one at a time again...they sometimes get into a web hiccup and corrupt just a bit.

I don't know if this is same problem I had back in IH2 - the chmod settings I was using were creating errors because they were at odds with settings my server required for security reasons.
At the time I found this code modification of admin/includes/ih_manager.php
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35913 reply#3809
Merging the 3 chmod ref bits of code resolved the conflict for my situation.
I carried those changes over to IH3 when I upgraded. (I confess I did not try IH3 without those changes.)

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
That was not much pretty with these big ugly red words, but whatever.
So, about your comments:
1. how can I post a link to my admin page? :)
2. on screenshot, there are IH version, ZC version and oh, of course, the fact, that it is an admin page...
3. Options in Configuration->Images are affected only on eshop pages, not in admin page (maybe I am wrong).
there is a problem with IH resize image, that posted AshleyNG2 (I disabled this option and images now displayed on product pages), but not in admin page.
soxophoneplayer: I tried, but no effect.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Since none of us can see the backend files that make up your store we can only help troubleshoot based on what we can see (your store).. A screen shot of your admin doesn't really provide any information. There is a LOT that we can acertain from seeing the site.. Without a link to the website where you are having the issues at it's hard for us to GUESS at what the issue might be... So the information we ask for is to help us help you..

When I disabled IH resize image option, images are displayed on product pages, but not in admin page. Also, when this option is set to NO, images zoom on hover doesnt work.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Thank you to all of your trying to help me. Over the weekend I will reupload the files folder-by-folder to make sure it all goes through.
I am using ZenCart 1.3.9h and IH3.0.
I'll let you guys know how it goes probably on Sunday!!
Cheers

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Prophet
If it works on your local machine but not on the server then that normally means a server issue rather than an imagehandler or Installation problem, so you need to try and work out what the difference is,
Have you tried the below as previously asked?

5) What happens if you change
Admin --> configuration --> IH small images filetype
from no_change to jpg
and do the same for
Admin --> configuration --> IH medium images filetype
Admin --> configuration --> IH medium large filetype
Other things to try (most of these have worked for various people in the past, normally these ones are caused by weird server things that we can't replicate, or at least i can't, possibly a combination of folder ownership and permissions)
1) try deleting the .htaccess file in the /bmz_cache folder, does this make a difference?
-- if not re-upload it
-- If it does try copying the .htaccess from images (or creating a new one, ask us how or copy contents from existing one)
2) Delete the entire bmz_cache folder, and create a new one using cpanel or your hosting provided file manager (Check permissions are set right)
3) Are files being created in the bmz_cache? and can you view them in your browser? via a direct link and if so can you provide
a) a direct link to a file in the bmz_cache
b) a direct link to the source image file in the images folder
c) a link to the product it is supposed to display for

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
In need of some help...
LOCAL test server - everything works fine
GODADDY linux server - IH3 acting up
I'm using V1.3.9h, with column grid 1.3.8, dual pricing 1.7, and IH3.
I have tried to delete .htaccess, copy and past .htaccess, clear bz_cache, uninstall & reinstall, checked & rechecked setitngs, etc. What I am noticing is:
admin>config>images>Image - Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories = 1 then
-Product thumbnails are sized correctly and watermarked
-Subcategory Image is not watermarked & the hover over does not work. (please note that the 45 degree watermark is in the original image file and not part of the IH3 functionality) http://skippypages DOT com/zen-cart-...45_1180_108850 (replace" dot " with ".")
-Category Icon Image is a fraction the size it should be and is not watermarked (please note that the 45 degree watermark is in the original image file and not part of the IH3 functionality). http://skippypages DOT com/zen-cart-..._108850_104150 (replace" dot " with ".")
-again the above worked fine on my xammp test set up.
admin>config>images>Image - Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories = 0 then
-Product thumbnails are sized correctly still,
-No watermarks anywhere (except the 45 degree watermarks in a few of my original image files.)
-Subcategory Image sized appropriately
-Subcategory Image hover over does NOT work
-Category Icon Image is the size it should be (520x375).
Any thoughts out there as to why or if the Image-User Proportional Images on Producst and Categories would cause this?

None since you gave us only a PORTION of your image settings.. How about posting the rest..

No worries, we see this happen occasionally, and there never seems to be a commonality between the cases, it seems to crop a randomly.

That image isn't being handled by image handler (it should be though), are you sure all folders have been renamed, there should be 2, one in modules and one in templates.
Also as Diva said post your all your image settings here, if settings are set wrong IH won't handle some of the images
you should just be able to highlight all the settings and cut 'n paste them here as AshlyNG did a few posts back

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
I have installed image handler 3, how do I add more large and medium images to be browsed on the product page? Seems simple, but I dunno how.
Is there an easy way?
I found this, but i would like to avoid:
Quote:
"From the Admin, you edit a product and specify an image file called:
a_bugs_life.gif
and put it in the
/images/dvd directory via the drop down.
Now you use your FTP program to upload additional images to /images/dvd
a_bugs_life_01.gif
a_bugs_life_02.gif
a_bugs_life_03.gif
a_bugs_life_04.gif
I used the numbers so these would load in order, as the additional images are loaded alpha/numeric.
For the large image (used in popups) I use FTP and upload:
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_01_LRG.gif
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_02_LRG.gif
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_03_LRG.gif
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_04_LRG.gif
For the medium image (used as the main image on the product_info page) I upload via FTP:
/images/medium/dvd/a_bugs_life_MED.gif
"

The "easy way" is to upload ONE IMAGE ONLY - usually your largest image - and then configure your IH3 settings to resize for large and medium images.
The instructions for all of this is in the READ_ME file included in the download package.
If you haven't read it yet, suggest you do so ASAP so you don't create problems that could easily be avoided.

Stupid Question BUT do your category images have extensions
on this page
http://skippypages<dot>com/zen-cart-v1.3.9h-full-fileset-10262010/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=45_1180_108850
the images are showing as
images//schematic/104100
with no extension
Image handler won't handle them if they don't have an extension

MANY THANKS NIGELT74 for noticing my oversight.
When I created a new d-base for the live site, I decided to split out some images and when a ran the SQL to update the new path I forgot to concat .jpg
Thanks again, one problem about to be fixed and then I can focus on other modifications.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Dunno what easy way you found but there is only ONE WAY that ZEN CART recognizes additional images, and the FAQ you quoted is the key. As you can see the file naming is how Zen Cart links additional product images with a product.. So any method you found that does not follow that convention may not work..
Also, the additional product images code is CORE Zen Cart functionality and not specific to IH3. IH3 merely works with default Zen Cart image management..

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Here is the method I found to add Multiple product images the easy way:
Code:
Go to image handler from admin
Select a product and click add new file
finally clicking choose file under default
Pick your extra image.
It automatically formats the file name for me and adds the image. You can see the extra images on the bottom of the product page.
Is this the correct method?
There is a problem however:
1) When I click the extra image on product page, the large image popup doesnt use zen light box. Instead it uses a regular popup window(I think default zen cart).
2)Go to image handler from admin
Select a product and click add new file
finally clicking choose file under add large image, it does not work properly and gives me an error.
Code:
Error!
Unable to determine the page link!
Function used:
zen_href_link('', '', 'NONSSL')
Is this supposed to happen?
And yes, to the best of my knowledge I correctly named the 2nd image file(CAKE_02), however I think that IH3 expected it to replace original image files large image and thus I should of kept the file name as the original filename(CAKE_01). Of course this wasnt my goal.

open both the IH3 and Lightbox zips to extract their files and compare them...I can't remember which one it is but the one that is name the same in both zips.....
upload it from the lighbox zip...that way your box will work right with IH3

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Regarding Image naming for additional images and the best way to do it: There is a detailed tutorial for this in the IH3 READ_ME (in the second section of the "Troubleshooting" tab).
Regarding additional images not working with your lightbox: As previously advised via answer to the PM you sent me:
Your template has a built in lightbox functionality that is conflicting with IH3.
IH3 only works with two specific lightbox addons built for zen cart. These are listed in the READ_ME file (first section of the "Misc" tab).
You will have to uninstall the lightbox software built in to your template and install one of the recommended lightbox addons if you want IH3 to work.
Your choices:
- Change your template (using one provided through the zen cart community to ensure compatibility)
- Uninstall your template's lightbox (ask your template designer to provide you the necessary tech support to accomplish this), and then install a ZC approved lightbox and IH3
- Keep your template as is and forget about using IH3 (uninstall it)
Things to check:
- You said you ultimately paid someone to install IH3 for you. Did you provide them with the above information?
- Did they take the time to read the READ_ME before they did the installation?
- Did you change your lightbox to one of the two lightboxes that work with ZC in general and IH3 specifically?
- If so, did you read the first section of the "Misc" tab of the READ_ME for specific instructions on getting those lightboxes to work with IH3?
As you can see from the above tips and from my previous posts and PM responses....all of your problems can be solved if you would invest the time to read and follow the instructions in the READ_ME file that came with the download package.
Any answer we could provide will not be any faster or easier than what you'll find in the READ_ME file because the answers we would give you in the thread are already in the READ_ME.
The READ_ME took countless hours to create, so I'm sure you'll forgive us for not wanting to repeatedly type out the same information over and over and over when it's already been provided in a clear, concise, and detailed document.
Once you've gone through the READ_ME file and have followed all of the instructions contained therein - if you still have trouble, come back and post the details and we'll see what we can do to assist you.
Good luck and happy Zenning :)

The answer is in the READ_ME file (as noted in my previous post)
Don't do this:
Quote:
For the large image (used in popups) I use FTP and upload:
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_01_LRG.gif
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_02_LRG.gif
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_03_LRG.gif
/images/large/dvd/a_bugs_life_04_LRG.gif
For the medium image (used as the main image on the product_info page) I upload via FTP:
/images/medium/dvd/a_bugs_life_MED.gif
As noted in my previous post, there is a tutorial in the IH3 READ_ME that provides a more appropriate method. The method quoted above is for carts that are not using IH3.

Link to the product where the problem exists would help us see what you see.. Also you do not need to PRE NAME your files.. IH3 takes care to properly name the additional images to follow the naming conventions Zen Cart needs to recognize additional images..
ScriptJunkie is right though.. ALL of this is in the readme, and versus repeating VERBATIM what is in there, you should go back to it and carefully follow the instructions/guidelines in the readme..

Is it possible to customize the layout of the zoomed image box?
Are there any css classes attached to the zoom box?

have you checked admin/image settings to see if anything got reset?
did you have to reupload any files?
I don't think (since it modifies no files) that IH3 has anything to do with not working with a new ssl...but someone more knowledgable will let us know, I am sure.
Have you gone to admin/tools/IH3/admin/ and uninstalled/cleared cache/reinstalled yet?

Not an IH3 issue.. There's no reason why IH3 would stop working after an SSL cert installation..

This page works (small thumb images)
http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/stor...e=products_all
this page doesn't (large thumb images - don't match your small image settings)
http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/stor...tured_products
If you read the imagehandler help files (configuration tab)you will see that certain images need to be the same size for image hover to work
here
the following settings must match the Small Image Width and Small Image Height settings:
Subcategory Image Width
Subcategory Image Height
Image - Product Listing Width
Image - Product Listing Height
Image - Product New Listing Width
Image - Product New Listing Height
Image - New Products Width
Image - New Products Height
Image - Featured Products Width
Image - Featured Products Height
Image - Product All Listing Width
Image - Product All Listing Height
Yours obviously don't or those 2 pages would have the same sized images

Please go back to the readme (versus me posting verbatim what's already been written there)
There are image settings which much be set in a particular manner for the small image hover to work.. this is detailed out in the readme. (hence the answer to your question is there:smile:)

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Greetings and thank you for a great addon.
I am running a fresh install of zc 1.3.9 with a few other addons including IH3; but no other image addons (not lightbox nor other).
IH appears to be working great from the first install, but for one glitch:
while the first image loads and shows in a product description without problem (shows larger on cursor hover, and larger image pops up when "larger image" is clicked); and a second image also loads and shows in product description/ displays a larger image when hovered with cursor; but when the second image "larger image" button is clicked, the first image pops up instead of the second.
any guidance will be appreciated.

Can you direct me how to change where on my cart page the images appear?
The module works wonderfully and I appreciate your hard work creating it...
But I would like the images to appear up near the top of the page.
In what php document should I add what include to move the image positions?
Thanks

Not a support related question for this module, and it's best you post you question in a separate thread..

If it is, please tell me what changes must be made to the javascript in order to correct the problem.

tranced resolved his own issue and posted the resolution here for others that may have the same question - it was not directed at you.
Perhaps someone more experienced than I will chime in here to help you, but in the mean time, might I suggest you check your image file naming process? I suspect you may have a file naming conflict that is confusing ZC, resulting in the wrong images being displayed.
Hint: it is unnecessary to use _MED and _LRG file extensions with IH3 and it is required that you only upload one size image per product image - usually the largest - and allow IH3 to re-size the images for you, based on the settings you choose in the IH3 Configuration settings in the admin.
IH3 has an in-depth tutorial about how to name and file your images when using IH3. Take a look at the Troubleshooting tab, second section entitled "Prepare Your Site For Growth".

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
1) Disable image handler, do the larger images work correctly now?
Admin--> tools --> Image handler (one of the tabs there allows you to uninstall/disable it)
Your namings seem a bit odd as it is trying to find an _LRG image for that large one

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
I am trying to get my featured products on my homepage smaller. They are huge right now. I have it set as Image - Featured Products Width 175 and Image - Featured Products Height 110.
I switched to the classic template and it works just fine in that template.
I did notice that the image src is not coming from the bmz_cache like it is in my new products. It just says this <img width="407" height="640" title=" Black & White Polka Dot Halloween Tulle Pumpkin Pant Set " alt="Black & White Polka Dot Halloween Tulle Pumpkin Pant Set" src="images/lil-bug-clothing/black-white-dots-halloween-outfit.jpg">
I have the bmz_cache folder set to 777. Not sure why it's not working.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Site is in signature.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Not sure if this makes a difference or not but I uninstalled it in the admin area only and the images still didn't shrink in my featured products. In the new products the images still stayed the same as it did with it installed.
So I am still not sure what it is. But I will keep looking and hopefully figure it out if no one knows what it is.

- The problem still exists when you disable IH3
- The problem goes away when you change templates, with or without IH3 enabled/disabled.
These two facts together suggest the issue is within the design code of your template. It is not an IH3 support issue - it is a general support forum question.
Please visit the "Customizing the Look of Your Shop" support forum and have a look at the "Templates, Stylesheets, Page Layout" section.
Do a search using keywords describing your problem (for example, "change featured product image size" or "featured product image size too big") to see if there's already a thread about it. If not, create a new thread to post a request for assistance.
or
If it's a paid template, you can ask the template designer for assistance. However, if it's a Template Monster template, you may want to change templates altogether - this won't be the last problem you have with it - their designers often sacrifice cart function for design appeal.
Good luck and happy Zenning

I like this quote and I will be using it from now on..
Let me add this, in Template Monster's sacrifice of cart function is ALWAYS unnecessary.. EVERY SINGLE ONE of their templates can be re-created without stripping out cart functions the way they typically do..

Thanks a bunch! I wasn't sure if it was something to do with IH3 or not.
This isn't from Template Monster this is a free template so I just might post in that support thread.
Thanks again!

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Sorry to be a pain again but another question. I am sure that it's the IH3 this time.
I have been adding products all day with additional images and just noticed that when you click on the main image it doesn't give you the option to go to the next image (which would be the additional image).
Here is an example where it's not working. http://frompropertorocker.com/index....oducts_id=1079
It was working earlier today and the only I did to my site was fixed the featured products I had trouble with earlier. Other than that I have just been adding products.
I do see this error in my error log just recently. [Sat Sep 10 22:57:32 2011] [error] [client 67.4.66.137] client denied by server configuration: /home/fromprop/public_html/secretadmin/includes/images, referer: https://frompropertorocker.com/secre...stylesheet.css Not sure if it has something to do with that also or what but thought I post it just in case.
I also tried clearing out my IH3 cache but that didn't seem to fix it.
Thanks again!

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Oh please ignore my last question. It's been a long day. I posted in the wrong forum. It wouldn't be IH3 problem it would be a Zen Lightbox problem.

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
I'm in need of advice :(
IH3 has worked great for me all along... Does what it says on the tin. TY
Now my current dilema:
I am now at the stage where I need to add many "additional product images" and all is well...
My problem is that I need to title each additional image to reflect that 'this image is an example of..' and 'this image is a gift box.." (not exactly like that of course)
So I know I need something like 'Additional Image Titles' but upon looking at this mod it apears long winded. Also I read one pose asking if it works along side IH3, to which he was told "probably not"
Basically I need to title my 'additional' images with my choice of title. AND I don't want to sacrifice IH3 to do it.
Any one know of a good way I can implement this feature?
PS: My PHP is minimal... I can cut & paste / merge but not write the stuff ;(
Thanks for any advice.

is 'Additional Image Titles' a mod to add on? if it is then if you have a test store set up you could try it and see if it works or not.
otherwise in the product description I would write down that some of the promos are... adding what you wish to add cause IH will name them according to what the main image is called and does not really distinguish any other name.
but someone more knowledgeable will come in soon and tell us if I am wrong...lol

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Hi
Yes it's a mod (add-on) in the Zen download area.

Was the mod author the one who made this statement??? If not why not ask the mod author in the "Additional Image Titles" support thread if there is a conflict.. I think HE would be in a better position to answer..

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Sorry Diva if I'm posting in the wrong thread
It's kind of one of those situations where I'm piggy-in-the-middle!
The authors (gjh42) thread does not help me much... one comment on another person asking was:
"It probably wouldn't work automatically with IH3, but should be able to be applied by adding the title code to an IH3 file"
Call me lost :(
I'm a little amazed that after all the yrs Zen has been going that no one seems to have had a need to title the additional images independantly of the product title.
Oh well....

But that's kinda my point.. that's ONE reply with no follow-up.. Did you ask gjh42 if he knows how IH3 would need to be modified to work with his module?? gjh42 is one of the most helpful mod authors on this forum, I'm sure if you "complete the thought" he might be able to give you what you need or at least a nudge in the right direction..

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Hello!
I am in the process of upgrading and looking for someone to stroke my hair and tell me all will be ok.
I just successfully upgraded my ZC to 139h and then upgraded to IH3 from IH2 rev8b. I am now in the process of upgrading to Zen Lightbox 1.6.2.
The question I have relates to the instructions for IH3, the Misc Page. On this page, the IH3 instructions state:
"Zen Lightbox - Replace the additional_images.php from Image Handler3 with the one that comes with Zen Lightbox. (Zen Lightbox has included all the merged code required for Zen Lightbox and Image Handler3 to work well together)"
But when I unzipped the lightbox and read through the instructions, I found no mention of IH3 and, in fact, the Lightbox 162 does mention that it was tested to work with IH2.
So my quesiton is this: What version of Zen Lightbox are the IH3 instructions referring to?
I just don't want to copy over core files with code that will break IH3 and I want both mods to play together.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Hi Feznizzle,
It will all be ok
The ZLB Read_Me hasn't been updated to include the info found in the IH3 Read_Me - which may be why you are confused.
Go ahead and install the latest version of ZLB (available through the addons download section of the forum), and it will work perfectly well with IH3.
Typically, folks only have problems getting them to work together when they install ZLB 1st and IH3 2nd...because of the shared file. As long as IH3 is installed first, and ZLB is installed 2nd, everything is fine.
Good luck and happy Zenning

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
im using image handler 3 downloaded from here, as i said its not a major issue, it doesnt affect the use of image handler as it still seems to work the same, its just from time to time i have to click install again, its odd.
i've reviewed the installation and everything seems fine? im not using any other image mods other than zen lightbox but again i followed the integration instructions so cant really see the issue, hence the reason to ask if this is a known butg or at least if anyone else is experiencing this

please clarify:
you have to click install again from time to time.
if it is installed correctly with everything in its place there should be no reason to keep installing it over and over PLUS
how do you know you need to click install again---do you get an error message? some indicator?

well that is what i thought? lol i have no idea what is going wrong.
if i follow the image handler icon from the admin product list (within categories) it takes me to the image handler manager page, from time to time it reads: there is no image handler information and a prompt below in hyperlink form to install image handler (when this is working it behaves as normal with the uninstall link clear cache link etc etc)
as i said i find it bizarre... i have no idea why or what triggers it, i know from time to time isnt a very accurate time assessment, but i see no pattern in what makes it do it so it is literally just time to time! i have however noticed that the front end is not affected in any way, images still render and i am putting products up all the time so i presume it is still rendering the images etc. i have tried clearing the cache etc and no real effect, the only issue with this is that i cant use the IH3 manager page until i have clicked install, ive had to do this twice in the last week, and in that time the only real changes to my zen cart have been updating products and adding products via easy populate
I sometimes get a crossover too where the wrong image displays in admin category listing itself, but clicking through to the image handler manager page it shows the correct image and its information, but not always with a button below each to delete the additional size images and front end is correct too.
im just about to winmerge my files and the standard IH3 install, i'll get back in a minute if i find any noticeable differences
-
Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
nope, no major differences,
my admin > includes > modules > category_product_listing.php is different due to havind product images in admin and markup module installed.
also my includes > modules > MY TEMPLATE > additional_images.php is different as i am using zen lightbox version 1.6.2
other than those expected differences there are no others

that is strange and is weird, I have never had it do that. It either won't show them or will and sometimes -- before I categorized the promos at my store I found that if they were named similarly or the same as another product, they both had the same image.
When I clear the cache I go to the server and delete all the folders living in the bmz_cache folder, you might try doing that--make sure the permission for that folder is set to 755 and if all else fails you can get rid of the .htaccess and .keep files and replace them from the IH3 zip
sometimes that gets slightly corrupted.
-
Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
yup ive done that too, short of replacing the files from the zip though, i will do that and keep watching and post back next time it happens, just to see if there is a pattern, thanks for your time :)

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Installation confusion: IH3 using ZC 1.3.9h
I have followed the renaming of folders and such in the installation folders within the download of IH3. I don't mean to sound stupid, but the next bit of instructions asks me to place the contents of (1 Install Files and 2 Required Core Edits) into my store. I dont have a folder location by way of FTP called "my store". Where exactly do the contents of these two folders go in the hierarchy of my zencart folder on the server?
I already have folder names which are the same as I'm copying over from these two folders, I want to make sure I'm putting them in the right place and not over-writing a folder by accident.
Thanks in advance, and please excuse my stupidy, I'm only a few days into using Zencart.

Jeff the "my store" folder is where ever you have installed zencart, some people install zencart into a subdirectory called shop or store or or catalogue or shoppe, while others install into the root of their site, evry install can be different. the "my store" is just a placeholder to tell people to put the contents of that folder into the same place as their store.
For instance if you had installed zencart into a subdirectory such as store
example.com/store/
you would place the contents of the "mystore" folder into the store folder
if you had installed zencart into the root of your site
example.com/
you would place the contents of the "mystore" folder into the root folder
