Nope.. that just means the issue is not caused by IH2.. It helps to narrow down your issue so I can try and steer you in the right direction..
Unfortunately I do not know what could be causing the issue. It's not caused by IH2 (which I was fairly certain of already) but clearly there is something in your template which is limiting the number of additional images.. (I am pretty confident that this is the root cause of your issue) If it is a template you got from the downloads section, then you can try posing a note in the support thread for the template, but I think you'll wanna try posting a new thread in the layout section of the forum..
Without having the benefit of seeing your store code I would guess that your template somehow modifies the additional images code in a way which limits the display to only 3 images..

very bizarre as it was working before latest zen update i dunno i will work on it, i dont know how to find out in the template whats causing it if it is the template which i don't think it is. Now that i re-activated IH2 the 3 images are gone ughhh:blink:

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Sorry if this has been answered already, but I can't find it.
Is there a way to have the hover image use a different file? I'd like the hover to show a zoomed detail of an image, rather than a large version of the original.

I'm fairly certain it is your template.. Which template are you using?? Where did you get it from?? Try changing to the classic template see if more than three images show..

(IH2 does NOT have any code in it's codebase which does this -- I can show you LOTS of examples of working stores with more than three additional images which demonstrate that this is not an IH2 issue)

Not something the IH2 hover does..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Everyone,
I too am having a similar problem. I have 1.3.9f installed along with IH2 and the RI_TEMPLATE_07. I have the Zen Lightbox add on also.
I have additional images for one of my products but they are not showing up at all. (not even three of them).
I have transferred all the correct files to the correct places as per instructions everything else works e.g. resizing, watermarking etc but additional images does not.
The link to the product is http://personally-yours.co.uk/index....products_id=36
as can be seen from the screenshot below I have additional images for the product.

Any help would be appricated.

I think I have come across something that may be of help to someone else here. If your additional images aren't the same file type as your main image then they will not show. I've just tried a small experiment with mine. My main image is a png and my additional images are jpg and they didn't show up so I added a png file as an additional image and now it is showing.
I think this maybe useful. See link above in QUOTE to see it work.
Thanks

FYI, this is discussed in the IH2 readme..
Quote:
Image Formats and Image Handler2
Image Handler2 purports that you can add any valid format (.jpg, .gif, or .png) to any main image or additional product images. This is only a half-truth.
Image Handler2 will allow you to add any valid image format to a product even if the new image is in a different file format than the main product image (Main image is a jpg and additional images are png, for example). Though Image Handler2 does not display an error message (and admittedly it should), Zen Cart will not see this additional image because the file format of the new image does not match that of the main product image.
Zen Cart will only recognize and display product images that have the exact same file format as the main product image. For Zen Cart, the additional product images have to follow a certain pattern that pattern includes the file extension.
In order to correct this anomaly, an optional modification to the Zen Cart naming convention MAY be offered in a future Image Handler2 release.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Image handler 2 has worked perfectly well for me so far, and it's a great addon!
Recently I've added some addition pictures for some of my items, and have FTP them into the same image folder, and named them image-001.jpg, image-002.jpg, etc
My original file was called something different. When I replaced the orginal image with the new one (through image handler admin), I expected the others to show up as well (as I'm sure worked before), but I can only see the original one (in admin and in the shop listing). It does not seem to pick up the others files. Any idea how to fix this?
I have a lot of files to do this way, and FTP is obviously a much quicker way than adding then in manually.
Thanks a lot!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Of course, here is the one in question:
http://tabletennisshop.com.au/index....roducts_id=836
The image filename is re-impact-tachi-001.jpg, and the other images are in the same folder, and are named re-impact-tachi-002.jpg, etc

I didn't think that made a difference. Just to be sure, I've renamed them all as
re-impact-tachi_001.jpg
re-impact-tachi_002.jpg
Did not make a difference, still does not show them.

Perhaps clearing the cache might fix it. If I clear the cache (through admin), will it automatically rebuilt all the images?

This
isn't an image handler thing, it is to do with Zencarts support for accessibility
But any way, it appears IE8 supports the alt tag correctly (a mod couldn't dlete my last to posts please), by not showing an image hover.
Find your \includes\functions\html_output.php file make a backup of the file
around line 197
Code:
// alt is added to the img tag even if it is null to prevent browsers from outputting
// the image filename as default
$image = '<img src="' . zen_output_string($src) . '" alt="' . zen_output_string($alt) . '"';
if (zen_not_null($alt)) {
$image .= ' title=" ' . zen_output_string($alt) . ' "';
}
and replace it with this
Code:
// alt is added to the img tag even if it is null to prevent browsers from outputting
// the image filename as default
$image = '<img src="' . zen_output_string($src) . '" alt="' . zen_output_string($alt) . '"';
if (zen_not_null($alt)) {
$image .= ' title=""';
}
The above should work in all browsers except IE6, and it doesn't really effect the accessibility because the alt tag is still in place
Nigel,
Many thanks for this little trick. It has greatly improved my site.

Clearing the IH2 image cache only deletes the images in the cache.. Doesn't affect the original images since IH2 uses the original images to generate the cached images..
My suggestion is to delete ALL the FOLDERS in the bmz_cache file and let IH2 recreate the cache.. ONLY delete the folders.. any files in the bmz_cache should be left alone.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thank you, I will try that. There is only a single file called ".KEEP" in the bmz_cache folder, so I'll keep that one. After I delete the folders, will it re-generate them automatically as soon as I go into the image handler section in admin?
BTW I've just added some new items to my shop with multiple pictures. It does not show these either, so I'm not so sure that the cache is the issue here. I do have other listing where the multiple picture show properly, both in the admin and in the shop listing, so it's not a setting that is stopping it from displaying...

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I was hoping this add-on would help me deal with non-uniform category and product images that have different orientations and sizes.
Is there was a "hard crop" mode where I could designate my category images as 160 x 120 and then the software would crop off the excess in either dimension. It's only when you see the images lined up in rows like on a subcategory page or category page where this matters. I think Wordpress has this function so it's definitely possible.
For me that would work a lot better than setting a uniform width and then letting the images have different heights based on their aspect ratios.
Any suggestions?

The WordPress function is are referring to is not native WordPress functionality at all. However, the Next Gen Gallery plugin for WordPress does do this.

The short answer is Image Handler does not "crop" images at all. You would need to size your large product images uniformly in order to generate uniform category images.

I don't wish to argue, but give the latest version of Wordpress a try. You can set the image handling functions to hard crop without any plug-ins. Have done it several times and it's a great way to get uniform thumbnails  I'd be happy to show you how if you'd like. The point is though that it is possible.
I realize that IH just resizes the images. I think cropping would be a useful tool and solve some layout problems with automation, and hoping for a way to set that up.

I am using the latest version of WordPress.. I don't use any of the default media functions (never did as they are rudimentary and limited IMHO). So if this is a new feature of WP 3.0x that's great.. IMHO I still find that the Next Gen plugin provides MUCH more functionality over the default WP media management features..

While it might be a great feature, Image Handler still DOES NOT provide this functionality, and the only way to "set it up" as it were would be for this feature/functionality to be a written into the Image Handler codebase.. It's not.. So I'm afraid this module, as written, will not provide you the functionality you desire.
The easiest way to get to where you want your images is to edit your large product images and category images before uploading them to the desired size you wish. There are a number of programs that will do this in batches. Picassa being one such program..

You are missing out on a good thing, my friend! Here's a link with some basic instructions:
http://markjaquith.wordpress.com/200...mbnail-images/
If you want I'll be happy to give you a sample functions.php file already set up so you can easily test drive it. It's great for featured images like post thumbnails where you want everything to be the same size for a uniform layout.
Regarding Picassa, or other software, yes we can edit hundreds of images to have the same aspect ratio, but that would take slightly longer than letting the old server do the work for us
I realize that your add-on doesn't offer this function but I think it would really make it that much more essential and make more attractive stores.

Thanks for the test drive offer. I do not believe that I am missing out on anything, AND I still prefer the Next Gen Gallery plugin for WP over the default WP media functions.. (improved or not, Next Gen STILL offers way more functionality than the default WP media function for image management IMHO..) So let's just say we're gonna agree to disagree on this point and let this go as WP discussions are a little off topic here..

Understood.. I was offering this as an immediate solution as Image Handler does not have the functionality you appear to need/want. Picassa has a batch edit feature which would allow you to apply an aspect ratio to a folder full of images.. After that it's a matter of FTPing them to your store's images folder.

And no doubt it would, but that functionality is not in the immediate plans for this module. However, this is is an open source module so anything could happen in the future.. Perhaps someone will take on adding this level of functionality to Image Handler..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
Does anybody know of a way I can add *the same* additional image to every product in say 2 or 3 categories using IH2?
In my case I want to add an additional image (i.e an additional image after the first default image has been added manually) of a generic gift box included with all products within said category/categories - it would save me a few hours work
Thanks.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. This used to work, but somewhere along the way, something changed on our side and I'm trying to get it back to normal.
Image Handler IS WORKING. However, it's not caching LARGE images.
For example, go to one of our products here: http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/psyphe...d-p-11983.html
You can see the MEDIUM image preview is cached by viewing the image source, and seeing that it's being pulled from the BMZ_Cache folder. However, when clicking to view the LARGER image, it's pulling from our default Images directory, and not a bmz_cache directory.
I want to be able to put a watermark on these larger images, but can't seem to do it, and I think it's because it's not being cached correctly and only displaying the original images.
Any ideas? I recently upgraded ZC from 1.3.8a to 1.3.9g.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Try deleting all the folders (NOT THE FILES) in the bmz_cache directory, go to the admin to clear the cache and let IH2 recreate your cache folders and see if that solves the issue..

How would you delete the folders without it deleting the cached files contained within them?
Or are you only saying that I should go to the IH2 admin and click "Clear Image Cache", and that will take care of everything for me?

Depending on the version of IH2 you are running there are 1 or 2 files in the bmz_cache folder followed by the folders with the cached images.... delete the folders in bmz_cache, leave the two files alone..

What's your image setting for LARGE images. Keep in mind that IH will only cache large images if your LARGE image setting (width and height) is actually less than the original image uploaded.
For example, let's say you upload an image that's 400 x 400 but your setting for large image is 600 x 400. Since your original image size is less than the image setting, IH will not create a cache. The logic behind caching is to speed things up and if your original image is small than your image setting, you don't gain anything so IH just displays the original image.
SMALL and MEDIUM will always almost be cached because the size setting is most of the time small than the original image. If your original image is small than your small/medium setting they are not cache either.
Well, at least this is how things worked when this was originally released...you will have to test my theory to make sure it hasn't changed in new versions.

If you remove the code below from your template it will remove additional images from showing on the product page. However, how are you planning to let your customers know that you have additional images if they don't click on the first image in your gallery.
PHP Code:
<!--bof Additional Product Images -->
<?php
/**
* display the products additional images
*/
require($template->get_template_dir('/tpl_modules_additional_images.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_additional_images.php'); ?>
<!--eof Additional Product Images -->

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
That makes sense! So is there anyway to watermark the "large" image if it's smaller than your large settings?
For example, let's say I upload an image thats 100x100, but let's say my "large" image dimensions are 300x300. It caches the small and medium size into the bmz_cache folder, but it uses the original image for the "large" size, loading right from my zen cart store/images folder. Is there anyway to watermark those then? I am guessing not, but I want to bounce it off you guys.

IF you set IH watermark large images to true that should display the watermark as long as you upload the watermark image to your server (again I am assuming the version you're using still offers this feature).

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I have, but it still isn't showing. I put a watermark_LRG.png in my images/large directory (which doesn't have any image files, mind you)......and I have a watermark.png in the root of my /images directory, but it still hasn't put anything on the "larger" images since it's launching them straight from the root images folder.
And I'm using IH2.
So I have an Example.jpg which I upload. The small thumbnail is loaded from a bmz_cache location with a watermark. The medium thumbnail also loads from a bmz_cache location with a watermark. The "larger image" that pops up from the product page is loading the original image from the /store/images/ directory, and it's not watermarked. If I can only get images to watermark from this directory, we would be GOLDEN!
Any more ideas? I appreciate your help!

BlessIsaacola,
You're right, removing that code means that any additionel images are removed both on the product page and in Gallery View. So it didn't solve my problems.
Nevertheless, many thanks for your quick reply.

Just for kicks what happens if you copy your watermark_LRG.png to root/images/ as well and then copy watermark.png to root/images/large/ as well.
Also, are you putting watermark to promote branding or to prevent people from stealing your images?
If it's to prevent people from stealing your images, you're simply wasting your time because with a Firefox plugin they can get to all your images that doesn't have watermark on it.
The Firefox plugin simply makes the process easy but can be done with any browser.
If watermarking for branding, that's a completely different story.

If I may ask, what are you trying to accomplish as that might help in figuring out a solution. Is this more of dealing with presentation so your page is cleaner or is there something else behind what you're trying to achieve?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I went ahead and put the watermark.png in the images/large folder, and also put the watermark_LRG.png into the store/images folder. Still no watermark. Note that I haven't cleared any cache though, but didn't think that would make a difference since it's not loading this from the bmz_cache directory, but rather from the root images folder.
And I am using it for branding AND to deter image theft. It also helps spread the word about our site for those who may link to the image and see our name on it.

Stop the press! Hold your horses!
I did what I probably should have done from the beginning: I reinstalled. I didn't see why that would matter, since I never touched the installation for IH2, but since upgrading to a newer version of ZC, it probably would have been a good idea to do it for good measure. Now that I upgraded, things are working.
Thanks again for all your help!

Which IH2 version are you running?? There have been two upgrades to IH2 for Zen Cart 1.3.9 compatibility.. (including support for PHP 5.3 and other important updates -- watermarking is still included and has never been removed from any release) There have been a few changes and improvements so I suggest reading the readme installation instructions before upgrading and follow the upgrade instructions...
I suggest upgrading to the latest version available in the downloads section..

Thanks.
I would try giving it a new name for each item you want to upload it to for instance...
giftbx.jpg then giftbx1.jpg
but if you are going to upload it eachtime with the new item via the IH control center then make sure it is the additional images not the main image you upload...product main image gets uploaded first then any of your next images since the software will rename it to that items main image name and append a number to it.
so if you have necklace.jpg as the main one the software will rename the next images you place thru the controls---or you can name them to upload directly to server as:
necklace_01.jpg with necklace_02.jpg as the next one showing and so forth for as many images you wish to show for that particular item.

The latest version also runs faster which is another reason to upgrade (this may not be an issue for some but we have 1,000s of products on our site).

Yes, I want to make my page cleaner and I don't want my customers to see the detail image before they have clicked on the main product image.
As you (hopefully) can see on my attachment, I have circled and arrowed the additionel image.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Everyone,
I have a couple of questions and I hope I can get some answers from all you good people!
I have installed Fual Slimbox and Image Handler 2. I installed Fual Slimbox because I didn't like the pop-up screen used with Image Handler. Here are my issues:
When you click on an image the overlay and image displays properly(with Fual Slimbox), however there is no watermark visible. Watermarks through IH2 is enabled and works but only when Fual Slimbox is disabled. Does anyone know how I can get these two to play nice?
When viewing additional product images you need to view each image in it's own windows. The "prev" and "next" options do not appear. This option is also available with using Fual Slimbox...I know it's a different add on but since I've read that these two are used together a lot, thought I'd ask here.
Any my last question. Is there a way to ftp your images and have them resized or do you need to add one image at a time through the admin set up?
Any suggestions? I've been searching for a solution for this for a while. Thank you!

This is less of an IH2 "issues" and more of a function of how additional images in general work in Zen Cart which IH2 works WITH but does not alter.
More information on how additional images work in Zen Cart can be found here:

This is only partially true.. Using these image names as an example, this will be the result.
Product 1 has main image named giftbx.jpg
Product 2 has main image named giftbx1.jpg
Product 1 will display giftbx1.jpg as it's additional image
Product 2 will display giftbx.jpg as it's additional image
Adding IH2 to this mix, let's say you upload 3 additional images to Product 1. Regardless of the source file name, IH2 will rename those images based on the main product image. So an image named necklace.jpg, necklace1.jpg, necklace2.jpg uploaded to Product 1 via IH2 will be renamed as follows:
giftbx_01.jpg
giftbx_02.jpg
giftbx_03.jpg
After you upload the additional images this will be the result:
Product 1 will display the follow additional images:
giftbx1.jpg
giftbx_01.jpg
giftbx_02.jpg
giftbx_03.jpg
Product 2 will display the follow additional images:
giftbx.jpg
giftbx_01.jpg
giftbx_02.jpg
giftbx_03.jpg
More on how additional images in Zen Cart works can be found here:
Why am I seeing images for other products on my product pages?
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=315
If you want products to share additional images and use the IH2 controls for uploading those additional images, it can be done, but you will REALLY need to plan out the naming of your main product images.

If you rename your images to match the main image you do through admin you can upload them and they will show up once you add the main image.
like:
main.jpg
main_01.jpg
main_02.jpg
but remember to name it unique to the item you are uploading or should you have two items with the same named images...they will show in both products.
I hope that makes sense...lol
as for the other questions...
did youupload the watermark images to the server?
did you check the files for both add ons to see if they share one or more...then if they do you will need to merge those files together for it to work.

I posted a response to you on the Fual Slimbox support thread.. (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=477) I'll repeat it here..
Honestly it sounds like you have both modules installed incorrectly.. I suspect the real issue is that the files that both IH2 and Fual Slimbox have in common haven't been correctly merged. (Hence why they don't work together) Wish I could tell you there was a quick fix, but I can't. IMHO before you try any quick fixes to resolve this issue, you need to start with two properly installed and functionally working modules.. (which I do not believe you have at this time)
I suggest the following steps to resolve your issue..
- Roll back to a version of your store without IH2 and Fual Slimbox installed
- Install IH2 and configure it to your desired settings.
- BACKUP your store (yes AGAIN -- you should back up your store EVERY TIME before you install a module so IF things don't work or something breaks you can roll back)
- BEFORE YOU INSTALL FUAL SLIMBOX use a program like Winmerge or Beyond Compare and look for any files in your store backup that will be overwritten by Fual Slimbox and MERGE the Fual Slimbox code with the code already in these files. THEN upload Fual Slimbox..
HTH..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hey!
Thank you so much for your response. I think that both are installed properly as they work fine indepently apart from each other. However...this merging is new to me! I haven't merged any files at all...so that's probably where my problems lie.
Can you please give me more details on this and let me know which files I need to merge together?
Or would you suggest an full uninstall of both add ons and just start fresh? I haven't added pictures since I've been stuck at this roadblock but to roll back my cart to a version prior to these installs would be losing countless hours of modifications...
Thank you again!

I have to disagree.. For these modules to work together then you have to make sure they are installed properly so that will work together. Part of properly installing them includes merging the files they have in common. IMO it's clear that you haven't done this, and that is the MOST likely reason why they are not working well TOGETHER..

The Image Handler readme files provides you with a list of core Zen Cart files that will be overwritten when you install these modules. I don't remember if the Fual Slimbox readme includes a list of files in the module install folders. Even if the Fual Slimbox module doesn't provide this same list, using a file comparison program will allow you to see which files will be overwritten by re-installing Fual Slimbox.

Wanted to add this.. Here is an example in my test store of what Fual Slimbox and IH2 working together should look like:
http://zentestcart.overthehillweb.co...&products_id=3
I achieved this by doing EXACTLY what I am suggesting to you that you do to resolve your issues.. (Backup, compare files, and merge the code in all of the common files) I realize you do not want to step back, but IMO you need to go back and start over so that you can get this done correctly.. There is no real quick fix to your issue.. The real solution truly lies in properly merging the common files in the two modules with the existing code in your store.
A file comparison program (like the two I suggested) will really help you with this task.. I personally use Beyond Compare which unlike Winmerge is not a freebie, but Beyond Compare has a pretty generous free trial period for you to really get a feel for what it will do.. After trying it for a lengthy period of time I opted to invest in it because it really s a GREAT program and makes the job of comparing and merging files pretty easy..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I've just upgraded a client's site from 1.3.7 to 1.3.9g.
I had Image Handler2 installed. We used it for the zoom and watermark.
What is strange is that both the watermark and the zoom work everywhere except for the product page. Take a look @ www.uncommonscissors.com.
I've done what debugging I could and searched this thread, I've uninstalled, cleared the cache (ftp'd in and removed all the images) and reinstalled IH2.
Mind you, it is working, just not on the product page - well, it does work on the "also purchased" module that is on the product page.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
What version of Image handler are you using?
because when I look at the imagehandler js file it is from an extremely old version of IH 2, the latest version is available in the downloads

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Everyone! I have a question concerning general usage.
my bmz_cache folder has the tendency to get large by itself (150+ MB :shocking:) and I must delete folders to free up some disk space.
How often does one clean out this folder? or do I need to purchase more disk space on my server?

in admin-tools-imageHandler2->Admin tab, you can clear the bmz_cache, which will delete all images in it, the images will of course be recreated when they are called, but this is good for getting rid of images of products you have deleted, if you regularly delete lots of products.
Another thing to check is the compression setting in admin - images it should be around 80 - 85 any higher is just wasteful

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I got everything working how I want, fual slimbox is in there and playing nicely with IH2.
My site was running a little slow and I thought maybe it was my IH2 settings, so I had a poke around in the bmz_cache folder. It's writable (777) but nothing has been written to it since I installed IH2. There's a few empty folders inside but no files.
Any ideas what I've done wrong? I have plenty of web space and I would definitely like to cache the resized images to make things as fast-loading as possible.

How do you know imagehandler is working? as image handler should be writing to the bmz-cache,
What errors are you seeing in your /cache file?
A link to your site would make it easy for us to deduce what is going on
You did upload the files in the Your-Template folder to the template you are using
Did you merge the zencart and sliwbox files or did you just overwrite?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Looks like you solved the problem. During this testing phase before the store is published, I have to have php safe mode on. I didn't realize it would cause errors for IH2.
Quote:

This problem should resolve when I move to the live environment with php safe mode off.
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it very much.

I believe the readme for the latest version (Rev 8c) covers the non-support for safe mode with this module..

FYI, though this seems like an issue it is NOT a TRUE security issue at all.. What IS (and has been corrected in Rev 8c) a real concern with regards to IH2 is that the bmz-Cache folders in older version are not fully protected from the upload of potentially malicious scripts.. The Rev 8c .htaccess file addresses this concern. (We are using the same .htaccess that has been added to many folders in the 1.3.9 Zen Cart releases)
Hello,
I just installed IH but at first it didn't show the pictures on my server. I then used the clear cache (which wasn't really created yet, but it worked )
Found out that the clear cache also deletes the .keep and the .htaccess files in that folder. When i reuploaded the .htaccess file... beng, pictures not available anymore.
Am i the only one running into this?
I use mainly .jpg files on my server.
Thanks,
Jeroen

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
thanx for revamping this in a workable version, really a very useful add-on for my shop and it will be a timesaver for me.
if someone is bored i would really love
- option to make small/medium square so the product listings layout won't be affected by either the landscape or portrait layout of the picture. (ie 100x100, 200x200 resizes)
- additional image with different format not recognised.
this is minor, i know: if base image is image.jpg and you add say image_1.jpg via ftp, then adding another image via gui will be image_01.jpg. They will still both show as additional images, not sure if it may create a problem.
- no link from product page.
should be easy to make a link from product page to IH page with the actual product allready selected. I just hate that little scroll-box for navigating...
anyway, great effort, great module, THANKS!

Not clear here what you mean.. Are the images not showing in your store or are you saying it's not caching JPG images..

I've confirmed this is indeed what happens.. Not sure what the solution is, but this is indeed the behavior..

While it might be a great feature, Image Handler still doesn't provide this functionality. Perhaps someone will decide they are bored and add this feature..
In the menatime, the easiest way to get square images like you want is to edit your large product images and category images with equivalent dimensions before uploading them and IH2 will take care of sizing the small and medium images accordingly. There are a number of programs that will edit aspect ratios for a batch of images. Picassa being one such program..

FYI.. Zen Cart without IH2 doesn't support product images and additional images with mixed filetypes types. (main image JPG, additional images GIF)

I have the version before all the revamping of it and do not have either the .htaccess nor the .keep

The .htaccess file is important as it includes important security directives which provide important protections to the bmz_cache folder.. (which is why the same .htaccess file has been included in many of the folders for the new version of Zen Cart)It was an important part of the last release, and I do not recommend to ANYONE foregoing this file..
Admittedly I've never been entirely sure of the purpose of the .keep file.. My guess is this is another piece of leftover legacy stuff from the original IH2 release and it's importance is negligible.. (I would need to test to be VERY sure of this..)

The images are cached, but it appears the .htaccess is preventing them from being shown in the store. (i just see empty places where the pictures should be) Once i remove the .htaccess, the pictures do show up again.

Thanks, but after 4 years of handcrafting aprox. 2500 images (times 3 for small/med/large) i am very determined to never touch a picture editor again if we have software that can do it for us ;) Thats why i would also love to have a minimum function for the large pictures, so when they are not meeting these requirements the image gets scaled up to the min requirement.

Thanks, works better without the files than with them. yes
Anyone still actively coding this module?
I have a working concept of "squaring" the images in my test.

Then it sounds like it's a matter of modifying the directive in the .htaccess..

Just wanted to post this for folks who follow this thread.. Deleting the .htaccess file in the bmz_cache folder is not a recommended course of action.. The commands in the htaccess file are to ensure that other files cannot be written to your bmz_cache folder.. With regards to jpg files, the .htaccess file includes filters for jpeg, jpeg, JPG, or JPEG files..
That said it's possible that your host's Apache implementation is not correctly reading the regular expression correctly. Why not try modifying the directive to EXPLICITLY filter for jpg or JPG instead of deleting the .htaccess file??
This is the line you should modify:
Code:
<FilesMatch ".*\.(jpe?g|JPE?G|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF)$" >
Try changing it to this:
Code:
<FilesMatch ".*\.(jpg|JPG|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF)$" >

Only made the suggestion since what you are asking for is not in the immediate plans for those of us working on IH2

There are three of us who have been "tending to" and caring for this module (as demonstrated by the last few releases).. Would love to see your conceptual version..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm back...
Diva are you there?
Okay, I've downloaded WinMerge....question is, how do I know which files to merge? Follow Fual Slimbox php code or IH2 code? I'm not very familiar with a lot of php especially the "if" and all those php rules...
Also, in review, the two should be able to work together seamlessly. In both read me files for Fual Slimbox and IH2 they don't mention the need of merging files so I don't know where to start.
I also tried to do an update to IH2 as it's been updated recently. Broke my cart. I'm currently doing a backup. :frusty:
I was fine with IH2, the only reason that I added Fual Slimbox was because I prefered the overlay type of popup vs. the windows popup that IH2 offers. So sad!

What you need to do is look at the files for BOTH modules.. look for the files they both have in common and using your file comparison tool, you'll need to merge the code from BOTH Fual Slimbox and IH2 into one merged file.. You need BOTH the Fual Slimbox code and the IH2 code in order for BOTH modules to work together.. I hope that's a little clearer..
ETA: I took a QUICK look at IH2 and Fual Slimbox.. There is one file in common between these two modules:
includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/additional_images.php
Use your file comparison tool and merge the Fual Slimbox code into the includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/additional_images.php from your IH2 files and BOTH should work together..

They DO work together, but that requires that the files shared in common by both modules have to be merged so that the code for BOTH IH2 and Fual Slimbox are in ONE file.

Not sure how this happened.. Installing IH2 should work without breaking anything.. That said IF you have installed other modules which modify files also used by IH2 and you do not file merge them that could create issues.. This is why I ALWAYS make a backup of my store (files as well as the DB) BEFORE I install any modules so that if I am installing a module and anything goes wrong I can EASILY roll back to the last working state..

There are many shopowners who use both IH2 with either Fual Slimbox or Zen Lightbox together.. But you MUST take the time to merge the common files so that they will work together..
I hope this helps..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Next question...
How do I create my own watermark image? Is there some sort of guideline post. I tried to do a search but I don't come up with much although I know this question has been asked.
I have Photoshop and I know that it needs to be saved in PNG format. I haved tried to throw together a watermark with a transparent background but when I view it on my page, it looks nothing like it should...
Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

It's not on the main picture for some reason. maybe it's not enabled. But if you view "next" for the additional images you'll see it.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hey guys,
I have a strange problem. My client had image handler files on the zencart 1.3.9g setup but it wasn't installed. I'm not sure what version was that.
Now, what I did is replaced the files on the server with the files that came in Image Handler 2 for v1.3.x contribution from Sep 30th. After that I went into the admin area of the zencart and installed the image handler. It all worked and it's showing up perfectly except in case of two categories of products that shows up as blank pages.
The link of the site is http://www.blissfulkidsparties.com.au/store/
All categories are showing correctly except for the "boys birthday themes" and "girls birthday themes" categories.
Now here is the strange part. If I remove the image handler by clicking on the "Remove Image Handler from database" option in the admin area the categories mentioned above shows perfectly again. But when I click to install the image handler again it gives me the blank pages all over again so those categories are not accessible.
I have to note that i haven't deleted the files from the previous version as before installing a new one. I jsut replaced the files. However, the image handler is giving me blank pages only for two categories, and not for all of them so i figure something else must be in question.
Anybody has an idea? I know I'm out..
Thanks in advance..

Your main product image is not being cached your additional image is so the watermark is only being applied to the cached image.. I suggest going to IH2 admin and uninstalling IH2. (by clicking on the "Remove Image Handler from database" option in the admin area) The using your FTP program delete ALL of the FOLDERS (not the .htaccess file) inside your bmz_cache folder. (DO NOT use the clear image cache option in the IH2 admin) Then go back to the IH2 admin and install IH2 again.. See if this helps kick things back in order..

Not sure this is an IH2 issue.. (Otherwise you'd have the problem in the entire store..) Do these two categories work if you turn off your SEO program?? I can't help but wonder what happens with standard Zen Cart URLs

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Everyone,
This is my first post so please moderate as needed.
We inherited a ZenCart webstore which was running version 1.3.6. We have updated the store to 1.3.9f along with a design facelift. Everything is working fine except one massive issue; we cannot upload additional images for products. We have Image Handler 2, Rev. 8 installed and we are running php 5.3, but have tested on php 5.2 to no avail.
When we go into the admin and click on Tools>Image Handler 2 select a product category and then a product, the lower section says “There are no images for this product”, when in fact there are. So, if we than click on the “new file” button on the right hand side to add an image(s) we get the following error:
Error!
Unable to determine the page link!
Function used:
zen_href_link('', '', 'NONSSL')
The strange thing is the image gets uploaded overriding the previous image. However we still cannot add additional images. Prior to the updates and adding a gift registry plug-in, image handler worked fine.
We have tried everything. We have scoured the forums and tried every solution to the error we are getting and nothing has worked. Both locally and on the live server this is an issue.
All permissions are set correctly. We have cleared the cache. Removed IH from DB and reapplied. Made sure all images in the images directory had no invalid characters (we even made a new image directory with no images just to test. We went into the DB and clear all products to start fresh and that didn’t work either.
At this point we are ready to pay a Zen Cart / IH pro to fix this if we can get a solution by the end of the week. Please let us know if you have any suggestions.
The store is: www.grasshopperstore.com (most testing has been done locally so they current store can remain functional, however any product that has additional images was added when IH was working a few versions back.
Thank you,
Ethan

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
No, they are giving me blank pages even when i turn off the SEO module. So it's not the SEO module thing.
Only when I click to remove the image handler from admin, they show up perfectly. Once I click on install image handler again, they are giving me blank pages again.

Took a second look and the other possible culprit could be some setting or configuration within your Better Categories setup.. The source code on the rendered pages for these two categories is blank.. This is a sign that something is stopping these pages from properly rendering.. and if it was IH2, all of your product pages would have the same issue.. Clearly whatever it is is directly conflicting with IH2, but I don't think that the issue is caused by IH2..

These two categories are the only ones giving me blank pages when the image handler is installed. And they are returning as blank pages even when I turn off the SEO module.
Only when I remove the image handler again, they are showing up without any problems. So I figure there is something up with these two categories or the iamge handler itself. But I can't even begin to imagine what can it be.

The IH2 code is category neutral.. So if it was an issue with IH2, I suspect that all of your categories would function the same way.. It's possible it's a conflict with code from another module.. But I doubt that as well.. Whatever the issue is, it's something that is unique to the configuration of these two categories..

What he's suggesting is kinda what I have been saying.. You've not gone through all the other possibilities which could be causing your blank page for only TWO categories..
Logically if IH2 was the cause you would truly have issues with more than just two categories.. A quick look at the IH2 code and you would see that it is indeed category neutral.. I suggest having a go at some of the troubleshooting options suggested in the article nagelkruid posted..

Thanks guys for all your help, but I've found the problem. It looks like one or two products in each category referred to a image file that wasn't on the server in the corresponding folder. Once I've uploaded the file and updated the products, they are now showing up as they should.
So, thanks guys for trying to help me. I just wanted you to know I found the solution and what was it.
Cheers!

Hi Diva,
Not too worried on that part. I just need some direction in how to create my own watermarks right now. If you look on the additional image it looks horrible...it's not even transparent. Is there some guidelines that I can follow to create a watermark?
Maybe the size of the original png file that is being used with IH2? I'm building it on Photoshop with a transparent background, however the background doesn't seem to be transparent.
Thank you!
