As always, I'm happy to answer any question, no matter what skill level or experience a user has. The code has gone through many changes over the years new things have been added, others have been dropped and others have simply changed the way it 'works'.
It is always good when people are able to solve problems out for themselves, but it is even better if I'm made aware of such problems so I can take steps to avoid or mitigate them for the benefit of others. This being one such example.

I fear I may need to roll back the server code, even though the DIFF's haven't provided any solid clues either.

Re: ozpost shipping module
I'm in the process of upgrading to 2.0.6 and all seems to be working ok.
Can I put a feature request in for future versions? A simple option to NOT display the delivery time estimate during checkout would be really helpful. I have been manually changing the module code to remove time estimate, but if it was built into the admin that would be even better.

You can do that via the admin console under the shipping module itself..
Postage Delay (days)
make that parameter -1 and the ETA will not show

Your wish is my command - Go to the config page, and see where it says Postage Delay (days) ?
Enter a negative value (such as -1). Voila, time estimates are gone.
(The code has had this functionality since early V1).
Yes, I know this isn't an 'obvious' setting or place to set such a thing, but if you think about it, no one is ever going to need to enter a postage delay AND hide the display at the same time, so it does actually make sense.

Hey Rod/Everyone,
I just upgraded to v2.0.6. Everything appears to be working ok at this early stage. I still have to finish configuring it and test that all postage rates are coming out exactly right but at first sight it looks ok.
Thanks rod for all your help. Glad it's resolved.

I'm not entirely convinced it is resolved. It appears that upgrading has apparently solved the problem for some, but I do still have one report of a v2.0.5 installation giving problems.
I've still no explanation as to why it has suddenly started to fail today rather than a few days ago when I last worked on the code.
If upgrading solves the problem, great, it is about all I can suggest at the moment anyway, but personally I'd still like to find out WTF is going on.

Oh, so it looks like it may be a V1 (or unspecified version) issue after all.
I know you customise the code a fair bit, but I'd be interested in knowing if v2.0.5/6 works ok on your live site or not.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi RodG,
My ozpost recently stopped working (couldn't get rates so it use the maximum $25/$99). So I've just upgraded to version v2.0.5 from the zencart website. Now all seems to be working again.
However, I cannot get "Hide parcel rates if letter sized ? No" to work, as it either shows letter OR parcel, not both. I basically want an express option for letter sized products as well.
Hope you can guide me a bit here,
thank you very much

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi there,
I love the new module!!
All seems good but one report of incorrect local fastway calculation... I am not sure if it was us but...
Details:
Our location Torquay : Postcode 4655
Zone: Wide Bay QLD - RF Alpha Code: BDB
We have set our RF Alpha Code to BDB or BRI
Using this item http://www.solarcampingaustralia.com...products_id=92 or others
Product Weight: 7.5 Kgs
Product Height (cm): 6.00
Product Length (cm): 120.50
Product Width (cm): 58.00
calculate ozpost fastway to Bundaberg 4670 = $38.40
using fastway website to Bundaberg 4670 = $4.02 to 8.09
actual cost when we sent to Bundaberg 4670 = $10.95
using sticker calculations
Other calculations are good to suburbs outside Queensland and Torquay it's self... just some local calculations seem to be off a bit from calculations on the website. More details can be provided.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod,
I have upgraded to the most recent of Ozpost and I am sort of working but still have a few questions please.
When I go to Modules/shipping I get the following error showing at the top of the box showing choices
Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /var/www/sites/horsemansshop/horsemansshop.com.au/subdomains/www/html/shop/includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php on line 713
Also despite updating the module the top of the Admin Home screen shows "Ozpost module upgrade available V2.0.6"
on the web page for customers selecting postage no icons are showing
Can you give me any ideas please?

Ok a few issues
1/ no fastway showing, is the code for Melbourne MEL? Can't find it on their website. Have I missed anything other than selecting satchels and this code?
2/ items in cart suggest 3kg satchel I don't think they are that big. Here are their dimensions and cubing from debug
1 x 15.00 x 12.00 x 7.00 Cube 1260 Cubed weight .315
1 x 15.00 x 12.00 x 7.00 Cube 1260 Cubed weight .315
1 x 17.00 x 10.00 x 1.00 Cube 170 Cubed weight 0.0425
1 x 17.00 x 10.00 x 1.00 Cube 170 Cubed weight 0.0425
These are the options that come up

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod
I've had some code hacking success with parcel packing and parcel dimensions. My version now stacks items smaller than the largest item in layers in the area of the largest item. Additionally I've included two smaller default parcel sizes that are used for items smaller than the specified defaults, which are loosely related to A5 and A4 parcel sizes.
Example:
Bottom layer: 20 x 20 x 10 (1 object)
Next layer: 15 x 15 x 5 (3* 5 x 5 x 5 objects)
Next layer: 12 x 9 x 3 (10* 3 x 3 x 3 objects)
Next layer: 20 x 20 x 10 (6* 5 x 5 x 5 objects)
Submitted Parcel size: 20 x 20 x 28
Instead of (current OzPost version) 20 x 20 x 85
It's probably too messy with comments etc to show actual coding changes yet and I also want to include another level of packing -- void utilisation i.e., utilising the largest void left from one larger item to the next smaller item(s). I have Void Utilisation working in my head but not coded yet.
Before I try to tackle that tonight....
I need some help/info regarding the 'Estimated Days' transit period appearing on Order Confirmation emails and on customer's Order History page. I can't find anything that makes sense or ascertain where to look to resolve.
Example of problem:
Sub-Total: $90.00
Australia Post (3kg Prepaid Satchel Express): $16.30 Goods & Services Tax: $...
Instead of:
Sub-Total: $90.00
Australia Post (3kg Prepaid Satchel Express) - 1 day: $16.30
Goods & Services Tax: $...
Text wrapping is dodgy too. With smaller statements like 'Regular Parcel', 'Goods and Services Tax' starts on new line but longer shipping statements and no line break.
Any chance of you shedding some light on it for me?
Cheers
Greig

I either found the solution to that with a search in this thread or forum... don't recall. Might also have been answer from Rod a few pages ago but I think it was early in this topic.
'Remove' and then re 'Install' from Admin comes to mind as solution but this may have been for something else.

In your case, it may be worth trying other post codes.
As mentioned, I've hacked my code so my experiences are likely due to my end but I've been thinking possibly a Fastway side issue due to the inconsistency of results for different post codes.

I was wondering how much of a problem this would turn out to be. Unless I'm mistaken this problem is a result of zencart/ozpost not supplying the suburb name(s) to the quotation server. Only the postcodes are supplied.
Fastway quotes require both the postcode and suburb to be supplied, so the server itself is (currently) required to supply the missing names. It does this via a simple postcode lookup that returns the first matching suburb. For postcodes with multiple suburbs, such as 4655 and 4670 this isn't always going to be correct and FastWay have different rates for different suburbs within the same postcode.
If you enable the debug option you should be able to see that with the postcodes provided, this quote is for a delivery between
BOORAL & ABBOTSFORD
I've been trying to figure out the best way to overcome this and am pretty much coming up blank. I'm open to suggestions.

I can't really determine from this error message WHICH of these settings is causing your problem, the "safe_mode" setting or "an open_basedir is set"
I think the easiest fix would be to edit the ozpost.php code, line 713 by commenting out (or deleting) that particular line of code. This line of code MAY be needed in the future, but is currently superflious.

V2.0.6 has been placed into the downloads area, but it hasn't been made live yet. I have posted links to a temporary download site in other forum posts. I think it was http://vcsweb.com/rod/ozpost.php_v2.0.1.zip
Upgrading from 2.0.5 to 2.0.6 is just a matter of replacing the main ozpost.php file (not need to re-install all the files).

1 x 17.00 x 10.00 x 1.00 Cube 170 Cubed weight 0.0425
You can ignore the cubes .... they aren't actually used by the module (reference only).
Also, what will fit into a satchel is far from an exact science since only 2 dimensions are provided and the width will change depending on the items placed in them, plus the specified full length can rarely be used because the fuller you pack them the less length is available to fold the flap.
On top of this are the weight limits for each satchel. As well as any things that will 'obviously' fit, you also need to consider the following possible scenarios. Item weight 400gm but a little to big to fit into 500gm satchel may easily fit into a 3kg satchel, so only the 3kg will be quoted even though it may appear that this is suitable for the 500g satchel. I suspect that this is the situation that you currently have.
Australia Post Satchels are not the same size as the FastWay satchels either, so any given product may fit in a fastway satchel, but be considered too large for an AustPost satchel of the same weight.
Hope this helps?
Cheers

Sorry, can't help. Ozpost provides this information but has no control over when or where it is displayed.

Again, this is not really an Ozpost issue it is a display issue. Ozpost merely provides the data.
It isn't even feasible for me to consider modifying any other code to 'correct' display issues because there is no end to it, it is something that needs to be handled in the template files, and since we don;t all use the same templates --- well, you get the picture.

Yes. It is larger (and not available at all postal outlets, which is why this has its own enable/disable setting).

The module obviously thinks different . What parcel dimensions did you use?

Whatever your item, it is clearly too large for the regular 3kg Satchel but small enough for the larger XL satchel.

I'll not comment much on this either.... with over 40 different shipping methods and more than 100 icons I wouldn't be at all surprised if I've missed one or two.

Please note that the module uses Length & Girth rather than Lengh/width because this takes care of the narrowing width as the height is increased.

I'm still not getting any rates back on my live site.
I have not had a chance to look at updating the mod to 2.06, as yet..

I would assume so.
I still haven't identified the cause, and I do know that it isn't affecting all V1.xx users - Just some.
Actually I've been out of the office for most of today and have been replying to the forum posts most of this evening, so I haven't actually gotten any further looking into it than I was last night. :-(

Hi Rod,
Just an update regarding my installation without CURL on a Portable Web server known as MOWES (v2.2.3).
I've since found that this package comes with a CURL extension. By default the CURL extension is not enabled. To enable the CURL extension you need to edit the line ";extension=php_curl.dll" and remove the " ; " in the php.ini file - save then restart server.
When this is done, all errors during installation of ZCv139c disappear, and the install issue with ozpost also disappeared.
Happy to say I now have a configuration panel for ozpost. :D
Cheers,

There is a file called "INSTALL.txt" in the zip file that explains
... upload unziped files to root directory of your zencart installation
if you have a custom template installed copy
includes\templates\classic\templates\tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php
to
includes\templates\TEMPLATE_NAME\templates\tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php
Then go to admin > modules > shipping
locate module ozpost, click 'install'
then optimally change the default shipping methods and packaging & handling fees.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Anyone else experiencing problems today? I can't get it to estimate shipping for any address I put in nor does it let customers proceed with a checkout.
I suspect Aust Post servers down? Can anyone confirm?

Servers are up.
There is an unidentified problem with *some* versions of the ozpost module that started a couple of days ago. I've been unable to determine which specific versions or any commonality between them. Best advise to date is to upgrade to the latest Version 2.

Hey RodG thanks for the quick reply!
After some testing my other ZenCart site which is running a much older Ozpost module works flawlessly however the newer module does not! I am pretty sure I am running the latest unless you've released an update within two weeks but I will proceed with updating anyway.

I am aware of this inconsistency, which is actually making it a lot more difficult to diagnose that it could be..
There is still an important 'clue' somewhere that I'm completely missing.

The very latest version (V2.0.6) was made avalailbe in the d/loads section sometime overnight (SA time). V2.0.5 was released 2-3 weeks ago.

Thanks for the feedback.
In an effort to solve the mystery though, exactly what version was you running before (assuming you took note or can remember). No biggy if you can't, but as yet I still haven't identifed which specific versions are broken, and which aren't. And this is still assuming that the problem really is specific to a particular version (or versions) of the module.

The old version that appears to be working is (from the austpost.php)

The one that I think was being problematic was Version: V1.0.2 (from the Addon page)

Re: ozpost shipping module
G'day Rod,
version 1.38
I have installed the latest version and it all works fine. But i have found a problem with my FCKeditor, it does not seem to want to work properly anymore. When i restore my website to a back up version running the fist version of ozpost my FCKeditor is working fine.
Have you had this issue reported to you? Do you think the new ozpost module can interfere with the editor? Do you have any suggestions on how i might resolve this problem.
The original ozpost module was great but now doesn't want to connect to the Australia post server anymore is there anyway you could reset this module for the people that don't need all the new improvements of the newest version of ozpost.
This would solve my issues and would be greatly appreciated if you supported the early version to server once again.
Thanks Rod.
Best Regards Sean

OK, now I'm really, totally and completely stumped.
"austpost" hasn't been able to provide valid quotes for well over a year now. It would/should have stopped working completely about a month or so ago when the old server was decommissioned.
"ozpost" Version: V1.0.2 (a completely different module than "austpost") is one of the versions that the log files indicate *isn't* affected by the current bug/problem.
I'm now starting to think.... actually I no longer know what to think.. perhaps MY best course of action would be to simply forget about the issue for a few days and perhaps see if it resolves itself in the same unexplained way that it has started?
Cheers

There is no version 1.3.8 of ozpost. This does match a version of "AustPost" though, but as per previous recent postings, AustPost hasn't been able to give valid quotes for well over a year, and would/should have stopped working completely about a month or so ago when the server was decomissioned.

There is no connection whatsever between the postage/shipping modules and the zencart editors.
An upgrade of the ozpost module will not be the cause of your problem. What else did you upgrade or change at the same time?

I can only repeat that there is no conenction whatsover between the shipping module(s) and the zencart editors.

No. I don't expect to either.
I *have* seen a number of reports of people upgrading zencart to 1.3.9x and having problems with the FCK editor, and recall that the fix for it was quite simple - I don't recall the details though. I suggest you browse the FCKeditor thread(s).

Oh I miss the days of DOS. Windows has caused me no end of issues and problems, and you wouldn't beleive the stupid questions people ask these days. Back when everyone used DOS people seemed to have some idea what they were doing - I'm sure that as computers have got smarter people have got dumber. Please Microsoft, can you dump windows and support DOS once again, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

I wish I hadn't read that..
The version on my live site is in fact 1.02..
($Id: ozpost.php,v1.0.2 April 2009)
I was hoping to resist upgrading the live site, as I will be putting up a new site soon anyway with ZC 1.3.9z (I know its only up-to d.. but the rate they are going, in 1-2 weeks it will be up to 1.3.9z..!!)
As you know, I heavily mod the ozpost mod, so I was praying the issue had resolved itself...

OK, so the situation now is that there *has* to be more than one thing involved here, because the logs clearly show regular server access by a number of sites (62 in the last 48 hrs) running ozpost v1.0.2 and currently one confirmed/definite report of a V1.0.2 failure.

I appreciate where you are coming from, and all I can really say is that there is no need or benefit to upgrading both zencart and ozpost at the same time (other than sheer convenience).

Me too, but at the moment I still don't really know what to think.
I *think* I may have spotted another connection to the problem though - and IF I'm right, you may not need to upgrade. I am clutching at straws though, and I am making an assumption. Still, it is worth a shot.
The assumption I'm making is that both your live store and you test store have the same "store name" (admin/confuration/mystore/storename/).
If this assumption is correct, for some reason your 'live' store is being logged as "norts" and your test store is being logged as "norts and ones", which could indicate that the space character(s) are playing a role.
A closer look at the log files also suggest that there may be a pattern here - The stores with a storename without any spaces in them are also correctly reporting the ozpost version number, whereas this is completely missing on your live store (the version number is an optional input field, so its absence alone shouldn't cause a problem).
Anyway, although far from definitive, this may be the "key" that I'm missing.
Sooo, I've a favor/suggestion for you. On your live store (the one with the problem), change the storename to something with no spaces. See if that makes a difference.

As much as I'd like to sit back and hope it resolves itself, I know deep down that it isn't going to. *Something* has changed somewhere at some time, and whatever it is really needs to be identified before it will truely be resolved.
Meanwhile I'm still gathering data and watching the logs for pretty much anything that will shed more light on the matter.
Cheers

Ummm silly question of the day.. Where do I change the store name ??
-
Re: ozpost shipping module
By Joves I think you've got it Holmes..!!!
I changed the name via Admin/My Store just to Norts and Voila... Shipping rates were retrieved...
I'll revert back to the original name with spaces and see what happens..!

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hello Rod,
I've been using the ozpost contribution for over 12 months on my site very successfully.
I am running Zen Cart V1.3.8a using Bluehost for hosting. I use ozpost contribution v1.0.2 April 2009. Sometime Friday morning between 12:29am and 8:42am the postal quoting on my site stopped working and instead returns the error for all postal quotes:
Aussie Post ( Unexpected error (no valid methods). Using AP Flat Rate.)
There have been no code changes applied to the site for at least 1 month.
I've trawled through this forum today to see what others are experiencing and it looks like I am not alone.
Could you please provide advice on what I should do.
Does the ozpost contribution ultimately call web services provided by Australia Post? Perhaps these have changed Friday morning some time.
Will the most recent version of ozpost solve the problem and does it work with the version of Zen Cart (1.3.8a). I note the contribution section says the current version works with v1.3.9.

Ok it just went from weird to ridiculous...:wacko::wacko::wacko:
With the store name just a single name...
I can add products to the cart and the estimator works.. If I edit the shipping address and update, the estimator disappears..
If I then clear my browser cache and update the cart, it comes back.. But if I then go and change the shipping state and postcode..it will be gone again.. until I clear cache....
With the store name in as Norts And Ones... back to the problem of no rates..
but
On my test site, in Admin, my store name is Norts And Ones.. and it's still pulling rates perfectly.
So I don't know if you can conclude anything from that..:unsure::unsure:

Disappears as in it simply doesn't show, or disappears in that it can't find any valid methods?

So for the primary problem the spaces are definitely relevant, and the version is also relevant. I consider these to be 'known facts'

Your test site is using V2.0.5 and unless I'm mistaken no one has reported an issue with this version yet.

I can conclude that the problem doesn't affect all users. Of those that are affected they have the same things in common.
1. They are using v1.0.x version of ozpost.
2. Their store names all have at least one space character.
Although the server code hasn't been changed for over a week (and this problem has only been occurring in the last few days ) I'd normally be clearing the server code of any blame or involvement, but the fact is some of the latest changes made did involve a bit more input validation and error checking, and even though neither the storename nor the ozpost version information is used for anything other than logging/statistical purposes, I'm now thinking that there is probably some kind of connection ... This latest discovery of being space character related does actually make a little bit more sense than being version related (even though version still plays a part).
Current conclusion .... there is something about v1.0.2 (and possibly other V1's) that has always been broken, but broken in such a way that it had no obvious ill effects.
Recent changes to the server code has now detected/reacted to this broken code, meanwhile the broken code was fixed at some point after 1.0.2, even though I wasn't aware it was broken in the first place.
Does this seem reasonable, or does it seem a little far fetched?
Either way, it doesn't take your cache related issue into account (which I would be treating as an entirely separate issue at this stage, on account of the fact that I can't think how to fit it into the currently known facts).
I can however give you one tiny tip/suggestion, the new server code is somewhat fussy about postcodes, in that they must now actually be legitimate ... with the older code it was possible to enter invalid codes such as '9999' and still get a legitmate *looking* quotes. The new code will fall back to the flat rates if such postcodes are used.
Cheers

It works with all versions of zencart 1.3.7 upwards. (and perhaps even earlier).
Meanwhile, if you really have been reading the messages posted in this thread over the last couple of days you may note that the problem has now been narrowed down to affecting only those folk using V1.x.x of ozpost and only then if there are space characters in the storename (/admin/configuration/mystore/ Store Name), so if you are not in a position to upgrade and cannot wait for me to solve the issue serverside, you may get temporary relief by renaming your store to something without spaces (eg "My_Store" instead of "My Store".

Given that you know the code more than anyone, and the facts at hand, I'd say your were on the right horse...
The cache issue still has me stumped tho.. I tried the same test on my daughters netbook, which as never been on my site, and the same results.. eg clearing cache rectified/resurrected the shipping estimator..

I did actually assume that to be the case, so when I was changing the shipping location, for each State, I was using the CBD postocde, eg x000 as the destination..

Once again I'm at a bit of an impasse and can't even think of anything more that you can do to help. I'd thought about asking you to enable the debug, but I suspect it won't be of much help as there wasn't a lot of debugging information made avaliable in V1.

Hi Rod,
Didn't really want to throw more spanners in the works, but I feel I am about too
I just switched the php version on my test site (which is ZC 1.3.9c and ozpost 2.05) from PHP 5.3 back to PHP 5.2.11 to test an unrelated issue, and the shipping estimator broke eg, it disappears..
I did change the store name back to a single entity, to see if it had the same pattern as ozpost 1.X on my live site, but it made no difference..
Is this all related, or have I uncovered something you'd rather I hadn't ?

Re: ozpost shipping module
We came across this problem Friday night when a customer contacted us saying she couldn't buy anything....there were no post options.
We are running Zen Cart 1.3.8a were using Version 1.02 of ozpost I believe.
We upgraded to V2.05 as that was what was being advised at the time. It seemed to fix the problem, at least immediately.
Unfortunately we seem to be having intermittent problems. It works sometimes, and others it doesn't. With the estimator, repressing the done button will give the rates, but not always.
We haven't upgraded to the V2.06 yet as it seemed corrected....will V2.06 clear this issue up at all?

Oh, a really big spanner. Our server is running 5.2.10 and doesn't have any problem.

I'm not really seeing how it could be related, but I also can't really discount the possibility. For this one you'll probably need to inspect the log files and/or zencarts debug files - One or the other is sure to give some kind of clue. Even enabling the ozpost debug setting may offer some kind of clue.

Do you have a URL where I can test/check this for myself? I'm not doubting that there is a problem, but I need to look for any kind of pattern so that I can replicate (and hopefully fix) the problem.

Probably not. The changes between V2.0.5 and V2.0.6 were quite minimal and mainly of a cosmetic nature.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Ok, so I upgraded from v1.x.x to v2.0.6 ozpost on Friday evening and everything appeared to be working ok.
However, it appears that the estimated rates are a tad off. I'm reasonably certain that the setup has been done correctly as I've copied all the old setting into the new one. But certain postcodes are coming back with values a little bit off (<$1) away from their real values. Have the postal rates changed? It was fine before I upgraded...
Also, 3kg express satchel is not showing up, but 3kg satchel is coming up fine. Both have been enabled. That's really strange since they'd use the same parcel weight and dimensions...

I've identified your store based on your forum username, and have spent the last few minutes adding items to the cart, refreshing the shipping estimator, etc, and so far not a single failure.
Exactly how intermittent is this problem? Is there anything that you (or I) can do to invoke it?
The people that that reported problems, do you know if they were logged in at the time?
Is the problem related to any particular product or products?
Any clues will be helpful.
Meanwhile, I would like to inform you that there is something amiss with your installation.. Nothing that would cause this problem, but it does affect how your quote screen appears.
There is a file in the ozpost release package called "tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php" This needs to be copied into your /custom/ folder (whatever that may be with your setup).
It also appears that the ozpost languages file may also be incorreclty positioned because the logs indicate not all of your 'defines' are being set.

Hi Rod,
Will you be adding Hunter Express to the list?
We have an account, but you don't require an account to use the frieght calculator. Pretty much charging on weight basis, which ever is larger. Actual or Cubic.

Generally speaking the rates provided will be accurate or not provided at all. Where there is a discrepancy between what the user expects and what the module provides it is the user that has it wrong.

Not an easy task considering V2 has a lot more settings than V1 :-)
Also, take careful note of the way the handling charges are defined, as some of them are applied differently between the versions.

Yes, they have changed since V1.x..x but it shouldn't make any difference in regards to accuracy because the quotes are obtained in real time so you should always get the most up to date rates.

That's what they all say. Seriously, I've now lost count of the number of people that are still using the obsolete 'AustPost' module that hasn't been able to produce a valid quote for well over a year now, that have pretty much insisted it was fine until recently.

Oh? What kind of errors? Did it report an error or is this the same as your previous description of "It works sometimes, and others it doesn't".
An error message is much more informative (as long as I know what the error message is).

I must inform you that none of the ozpost (or the older AustPost) modules will ever produce this error message. This means you must have *another* shipping module enabled that produces that particular error message, and if I were a gambling man I'd take this is a clue and reckon that if THAT module finds a problem with the delivery area specified then it is quite likely the ozpost module ALSO won't be able to provide a quote to that SAME destination - In other words, you have two different shipping modules telling you the same thing - This means either both shipping modules are 'wrong' OR you have (had) something set up to dissallow shipping to that particular destination. Either way, this doesn't appear to be an ozpost problem.

My tests indicate nothing amiss, so we are obviosuly both testing different things - For me to duplicate the problem (and therefore find or offer a solution) we are both going to be doing the same thing, and as you can apparently replicate the problem quite easily, I am going to need you to tell me *exactly* what items (and how many) are in the cart when you experience the problem, along with the parcel destination at the time of the problem.
You might also try disabling/removing any shipping modules that you are not using (This is just standard/recommended practice). It minimises the possible cause of any given problem.

I'll swap the spanner for a small socket set...
When switching to PHP 5.2.11 its not ozpost that's breaking, its ZC's admin (At least I think..)
I went to turn on the debugging for ZC and ozpost and half of the shipping options have disappeared in ZC admin. The only ones that are now showing are 2 free options, 1 flat rate and the per item...
All other admin options, including payment etc all appear to be ok.. It's just shipping that's gone askew with the earlier version of PHP
Weird..!!

Delete/move any shipping modules that your aren't using (do this via a file manager rather than the admin functions). If the problem persists delete/move the remaining modules one by one until the problem goes away.
Well, that is what *I* would be doing.

There is no shipping estimate when using an American addy.
Using 1 stock item of this http://www.aussiemaille.com/index.ph...products_id=80 when I try to deliver to an Australian Address it is fine.
I just added a book to the cart instead, and that shipped fine, I tried 5 of the above mentioned rings and that is fine also, but 1 packet triggers the not delivering to your area. The details I have been using as a test are for Colorado with a post code of 80906 if that makes any difference.
There have been no code changes to the items, or the way they are processed, yet we have sent small orders off that were one bag overseas before this weekend without triggering the error message.
Thanks for your time Rod....it's greatly appreciated.

This would solve my issues and would be greatly appreciated if you supported the early version to server once again.

section of the new 1.3.9 code in either
admin\includes\modules\product\collect_info.php
or
admin\includes\modules\update_product.php
causes fckeditor to malfunction; these 1.3.9 files have been added to the new ozpost module so it is compatible with the new zencart;
however if your using 1.3.8 and want to update your ozpost and still use your FCKeditor... the new ozpost only updated these files to make it compatible with 1.3.9 and you don’t need to update the admin update_product.php and collect_info.php if your using 1.3.8; am I correct rod?
attached are the 2 files for 1.3.8/1.3.8a that should fix your problem, but we better get the ok from rod.

I can only repeat, this message is NOT produced by ozpost. I know nothing about whatever module does produce this error.

Again, I can't explain that error message (I am aware of its existence, I simply don't know where or what module it originates from or what it is that triggers it), but I can explain the missing overseas postage with that single/specific item.
I'll give you a couple of hints.
1. It has something to do with the size/weight of this single item compared to the size/weight of several of these items combined.
2. It has something to do with a difference between the methods allowed for Australian Delivery vs the Methods you have allowed for overseas delivery.
In addition to this I'll give you a 'tip' - I can't remember if v2.0.5 had this or if it was something I added to v2.0.6 - Anyway, it is an 'old' tip that has been applicable to all versions of ozpost - namely, the
Hide parcel rates if letter sized ? setting, which states "If the parcel/items are letter sized would you like to hide the parcel postage rates?"
*I* think this description is self-explanatory, but it now comes with this:
Tip: If you dissallow letters set this to NO.
OK, so you now have two clues and a useful tip. Any ideas what the problem is yet?
That's right, you have allowed letter rates for Australian Delivery, but dissallowed them for overseas. This, combined with the fact that you have told the module to hide parcel rates if the item is letter sized, means that you simply haven't allowed any valid method to send this single item overseas.. parcel rates are hidden, letter rates not allowed.
Solutions.
1 Allow letter rates for overseas shipping
2. DON'T hide the parcel rates if the item is 'letter sized'.
3. Alter the minimum weight/dimensions of the item(s) so they will never be classified as being suitable for letter rates.
My recommended solution is #2 (if you really want to dissallow overseas letter rates), or, Solution#1 if you wish to offer your customers the cheapest possible postage.
Apologies for making you 'work' to get to these solutions (I've had to work harder to get here too), but i beleive that if I can make people think about some of these kinds of problems rather than simply asking for and expecting answers, over the longer term this early effort is sure to pay off. :-)
Cheers

And Now I'll put the socket set away.. and pick up the spanner again.
I did, as suggested, and started removing the various other shipping modules via the files themselves..
At the end I was left with no modules at all, and it did not resolve itself. I then went in reverse and only deleted the ozpost file and all was good.
That was on PHP 5.2.11.. I was going to try an earlier version of PHP, but Apache kept having a hissy..
On PHP5.3 no issues at all...

Thanks Rod, but I have always allowed for letters for overseas. We didn't make changes to ways we sent items. If I look at my admin section for Ozpost I see the following options ticked for Overseas: Letters, Registered Letters, Air Parcels, Registered Air Parcels and Insured Air Parcels.
Is there something else obvious that I am over looking?
I don't mind working for the answer, I am only a dumb end user so you have to use little words and big hints

It's not just that one item though, it's every small item that would trigger a letter size package rather than a parcel.
The size/weights of each item in the store are the same as they were prior to the weekend when things went wrong. Nothing was changed, it went from working to not working. I didn't change anything, I didn't uncheck/check anything.
I'm not sure what I am missing here.

I've just been comparing files (trying to figure out what/why changes are needed), and what you have stated isn't true. The changes made were simply to keep the ozpost modified files synchronised with the latest distribution version. If this is causing a problem with the FCKeditor then the current release zencart code would/should be producing the same problems.

If these files are already installed from a previous version of ozpost then they probably don't need to be re-installed unless you want the other fixes and changes made by the zencart team, in which case, yes, these should be replaced.

Sorry, but I am going to have to give the 'safe' answer here - and that is, if you are running zencart 1.3.7 or 1.3.8 you shouldn't have any problems using these admin files from ozpost v1.x.x
If you are using zencart 1.3.9 then you should be using the files from ozpost v2.x.x
I am not aware of any FCK compatibilty problems that exist as a result of any changes made to these files, and any that do exist would exist regardless of the modifications made for or by ozpost itself.
I've not done a 3way comparision between my changes, the changes made by the zencart team and your changes. If you have taken my changes and the changes made by the zencart team and back-ported and 'fixed' things for V1.3.8 then your submission certainly has my 'blessing', otherwise I have to stick to my 'safe' response.

Anyway, back to where we was.... if that was a copy/paste I can see something very subtely amiss that will explain the symptoms, but not the cause. I don't wish to follow this path if I can avoid it though.

This however is what I expected.
The next bit of faultfinding/debugging could get a little 'messy' in that we are heading into unchartered waters, so, before we start that I have one more thing for you to do first..
Go to your admin section, modules/shipping, selct the 'i' button for the ozpost multiquote module. Hit the 'REMOVE' button, and then hit the INSTALL button.
If we are both lucky this will solve your problem (the 'remove' will clear out all existing configuration data and settings from the database, the install will re-install a fresh set.
You'll need to reset you methods and handling fees again, but this action won't alter the weights/dimensions of any of your products.
If this STILL doesn't solve your issue then a re-install of all of the ozpost files will be in order (especially as I have already identified that at least on of the files is incorrectly located, so there may be a connection there too).
Cheers
Rod
ps. I have high hopes that the remove/install is all you really need.

Re: ozpost shipping module
(sorry ignore my post, my site is somehow working against the mysterious error!)
Hi RodG,
Just in case you missed my prev. message...
Hope you can guide me a bit here,
thank you very much for your help.

I seem to recall mentioning a misplaced /languages/ file ... you can probably ignore this ... The thing that made me think it was missing is now showing OK (no doubt, it was also affected by the reinstall).
The only other thing to take a look into is the replacement tpl_modules_ file. Ozpost works perfectly well without this, but the replacement tidies up the display a little bit (by removing the superflious "(" and ")", as well as removing the un-needed/unused dropdown selections.
Cheers
Rod
ps. My 'clue' as to the the reason for your problem came from
"Letters, Registered Letters, Air Parcel, Registered Air Parcel, Insured Air"
Compare this with what you'll now see... can you spot the difference?

I think the easiest fix would be to edit the ozpost.php code, line 713 by commenting out (or deleting) that particular line of code. This line of code MAY be needed in the future, but is currently superflious.
Did the icon files get uploaded correctly to the right place? Have you tried any of the other icons types (this module contains 3 complete sets of icons, selectable by filetype. (jpg, gif or png) with the additional option of no icons at all (text only).
Hopefully this will help solve your problem(s).
Cheers
Rod
Hi Rod,
Everything is now working with the exception of the icons. I still get placeholders no matter what type of icon I select and this doesnt change even if I say no icons.
Any ideas?

Yes! That's the difference, and there wouldn't be any need to be red faced about it anyway. I am probably the only person in the world that would've picked up on that. It is a result of the problem I had with naming conventions. Even though "Australia" and "Overseas" are segregated, the actual shipping methods need to be uniquely identified. "Letters" without the fullstop indicate Australia and with the fullstop overseas. In other words your overseas letters were being considered as local and therefore not appearing. To me, it indicated something amiss with your configuration data :-)

Only one. Refresh your cache and/or restart your browser. Your icons are showing just fine for me.

Re: ozpost shipping module - V1.0.2 problems
IMPORTANT NOTICE. ozpost v1.0.2 has a bug that is affecting a number of users/installations (but not all).
If you have been having problems obtaining shipping quotes from around 4th June 2010 there are two solutions.
1. Upgrade to the latest ozpost module (currently v2.0.6)
2. Make the following changes to the file /includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php
Line 338 (or thereabouts) reads // Server query string // (or similar)
Immediately after this insert the following line:
$HOST= str_replace(" ", "+", $HOST) ;
Then change the line after from:
$qu = $this->_getAPdata($SERVER, "/postage.php?fromcode=" . MODULE_SHIPPING_OZPOST_SPCODE ."&destcode=$dcode&weight=$parcelweight&height=$parcelheight&width=$parcelwidth& length=$parcellength&value=$ordervalue&flags=$flags&$method=$method&host=$HOST&v ersion=$VERSION") ;
To:
$qu = $this->_getAPdata($SERVER, "/postage.php?fromcode=" . MODULE_SHIPPING_OZPOST_SPCODE ."&destcode=$dcode&weight=$parcelweight&height=$parcelheight&width=$parcelwidth& length=$parcellength&value=$ordervalue&flags=$flags &host=$HOST&version=$VERSION") ;
(Specifically, you will be deleting "&$method=$method" from the line). Not only is '$method' not used/required here, but it is syntaxually incorrect).
Resave the file, and all should work again.
To the best of my knowledge no other versions are affected.
Cheers

Hi Rod, went with option 2 and changed the file, but unfortunately, no change..
Still not getting any rates.
I'll have a look at option 1 later and report back..

Not an easy task considering V2 has a lot more settings than V1 :-)
Also, take careful note of the way the handling charges are defined, as some of them are applied differently between the versions.
Again, I need specific examples.
Strange: My test (your site)

I've no explanation why it doesn't show for you.

Hi Rod,
I'll send you my site and login details in a PM.
Currently suburban VIC shipments are charged at $7.45 + $1 handling = $8.45 total which is correct, however country VIC is charged at $16.25 + $1 = $17.25, where previously was $16.15 total. I've used the same handling fee config. I'll keep playing around with the handling fees and see if it's different, but currently it looks like the fees are at least applied differently.
With regards to the satchels, your test was for aussiemaille's site, not mine. I'll PM you my site. It's strange because i've enabled auspost satchels and auspost express satchels but only auspost satchels come up.
Also, trying to get TNT up which is a great feature. Unfortunately it's also not showing up. I'm not exactly sure which of my logins to use, though. TNT website has a few. I've used my username and password and it doesn't show up. I've also used my email and password. My account number should be OK.
Anyway, if you could give me some clues it would be much appreciated.

Not sure what to say. I eventually managed to gain access to a site that was exhibiting this issue. and the changes I suggested/recommended cured the problem stone dead.
It is also no longer a mystery to me as to what is/was went wrong. The syntax error and/or spaces in the store name were both causing the client version information to not be passed on to the server. One of the more recent changes made to the server was to use this version information to determine whether to attempt to get TNT & FastWay quotes... No point in wasting CPU power returning quotes that the client doesn't support.
In an unrelated piece of server code where the version was unspecified the "default" code would just 'work', but due to a tightening of security and data validation the null input is preventing this behavior and exiting early.
I can't think of any reason whatsoever why the fix wouldn't work for you.
Perhaps you edited the wrong file? (I probably shouldn't admit this, but I wasted the best part of an hour yesterday because I was editing the file from a backup folder rather than the live site. Doh! )
Cheers
Rod
