Is there a way to show the sub cats that are in the left menu on the main page?

I have told you how to do it the right way using Numinix, you can see it in action on any of my sites in the signature. The mod you are using is old and hasn't been updated in years.
I guess whatever works for you.

But maybe using something you've worked on and recommend is better?

I did look on the Numinix site but when I searched for 'category' or 'categories' nothing came up. What exactly do I need to search for that will enable main cats and their sub cats to be displayed at all times no matter what page you're on?

Are you trying to display the categories in the center column or the sidebox?
For all numinix mods you would have to go to their website and browse for Zen Cart mods, I didn't build the mod I paid to have it developed to be used on my website and made it available to the public. I only sponsored some of the time that went into making it.

Fragfutter's Uncollapsed Categories Tree mod, available from his site at
http://plone.held-im-ruhestand.de/so...art-categories , displays categories and subcats only, and is very simple to install. Follow the readme included with it.
