And, yes I think you said it quite well and it can be very helpful for a person having difficulties to hear the same instructions a couple different ways. Among other things, what my links provide are a concrete example and a way to confirm that you are installing the files in the correct locations.
    Cheers.

Hi, I'm sorry for your troubles. I do not have any special knowledge regarding this mod or your error message. However, after several days effort, I have successfully installed this mod. There is a small chance I may be able to help you. In order to do that I have a short sequence of questions to ask staring with:

    (1) Please post the link from where downloaded Module Manager.

I am attempting to install the module manager that I might be able to use the cross sell mod that is dependent upon it. I renamed the folders entitled "admin" to my new admin folder's name, and then proceeded to install the mod. However, now it seems that the mod is still trying to locate files it needs from the admin folder. This is the error I'm getting (with certain info removed).

Warning: file(/home/content/######/html/zencart/admin/includes/module_installation/install.sql) [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/#####/html/zencart/renamed_admin/includes/classes/module_installer.php on line 201

I'm guessing that the problem lies in the mod trying to find the install.sql file in the admin folder when it is actually in the renamed_admin folder...ideas?

Well, I did it the ghetto way...I just created a new admin folder and put the files that the code expected to find there in my system root. It worked. Now, I'll see if the cross selling mod that I'm trying to install works...

This seems like a really good idea for a module, except I'm not sure if it's working on my server or not (yes I know, sounds odd that I don't even know if it's working or not).

I installed it ok, except as noted in the installation instructions, it came up with the error that it couldn't install the .keep file, so per the instructions, I created my own .keep file by uploading a blank text file titled "keep.txt", then renamed it to .keep once it was in the correct directory.

This solved the issue, and now it's showing:

    Basic Functions

    List all modules: Click here
    Install new modules: Click here

    ...and thats it.

When I click "List all modules: Click here", it "thinks" for a few seconds, and then doesn't return any new information. Essentially nothing happens.

    Ideas??

    red flag Re: Module Manager

I'm getting the same message as sevenhelmets in the post above me.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd sure like to get my store finished.

I have a similar issue - however I can report that both IE7 and FF 3.0.15 report code processing errors.

    IE

    Line: 333
    Char: 15
    Error: Object Required
    Code: 0
    URL: blah_blah/admin/module_manager.php

    FF

    menudiv is null
    URL: blah_blah/admin/includes/menu.js
    Line: 332

(note FF also reports a few minor CSS error for other pages, but I dont think these are important)

So I figure it is this error that makes everything blank. I (like others) are giving this module a try because the "just another Cross Sell" module says it wants to use it.

I'm pretty sure all the uploaded location of the files are good, I am using v16 (*not* v15 on the Zen Cart site), it is installed on a "pretty" clean install of 1.3.8a (only prior extra currently installed is the "Column Layout Grid").

Since the above errors look exactly like mine I am thinking it might be a code error somewhere. I am pretty well-versed in php (but rusty).

It looks like the error is because an object isn't being set, the code from menu.js seems to be Line 327:

    var menudiv = document.getElementById(menuid);

Like everyone else I think this module is a good idea - but documentation is sparse to say the least. I am happy to investigate a bit further but...........

Other question is does the module "just another Cross Sell" really need this module manager?

    Appreciate any insight.

Sorry - forgot to add that prior to installation of this module the admin/folder was renamed as per the security recommendations.

As others are reporting that the "clean" install to the default admin/ folder does work, maybe this is where the error lies?

I tried renaming my admin_/ folder back to plain admin/ but this didnt work either.

If this is the case then it shouldn't be too hard to fix the code - assuming the person who wrote the code reads this....

Well, I left it alone after my post. I installed a couple of other mods, beginning with Simple SEO-which requires this mod.

Only after installing Simple SEO did it show any acknowledgment of another mod being installed. I'm wondering if Module Manager is proprietary to this author's add-ons.

It didn't 'say' anything new when I installed RSS Feed or Google Base Feeder. So...who knows? Simple SEO is working and that's what I needed.
