is it possible to just take the paypal ipn from the latest versions and overwrite our existing ones and still remain on 1.3.8a?

damn, can't really upgrade to 13.9+ as our cart is so heavily modified.

Which files actually handle the IPN?

as i think i'll have to attempt to modify it myself if there are no fixes.

Hmm, if the transaction id's are the same surely there should be a fix where you can prevent an order from being added based on a duplicate transaction id being found?

soooooooo where is the place to add either a

INSERT IGNORE 

or a duplicate content check on the transaction id.
