Quickbook Sync

I checked into that at first - it is set to 'Tax'
ot_coupon -> Discount in my mapping

The line item on Sales Receipt still comes in as 'Non' though...I'm not sure why.

Re: Quickbook Sync

Here is my second, even more of a newbie question:

How do you get it to sync? Do I select something in Zencart, in QB or?? I set everything up, but I was thinking I had a button to push or something.

I am thinking I need to set up WebConnect. In order to do that find the *.qwc file, right? Where would that be?

Re: Quickbook Sync

You have to have QB and WebConnect installed on your desktop. Follow instructions in the download for Sync and it should make sense from there. The *.qwc is included in copy/paste format in the PDF doc in the download of Sync. You can use it as a template and change what you need to get it to connect to your store.

Re: Quickbook Sync

robinsonjas - Are you sure? It works fine for me. Go into QB->items and find "Discount" - the one you mapped it to. Click on it. A window pops up that allows you to edit it in QB. At the bottom, it says "Tax Code". Change it to "Tax".
FYI - If the description comes from the response, it means little. Check the request (the one right before it in the log) -- you will see that the discount has no tax code associated with it. Hence, it takes the default in QB. The response is what QB sends back to ZC's QBSync.

SPembleton - Restore your database backup. Never run a SQL patch twice! The .qwc file example is included in QBSync zip file.

Re: Quickbook Sync

@srturner47 - yes sir, the Discount in QB is set to 'Tax' yet somehow it comes in as 'Non'. I looked at the log of the order that it processed and it doesn't assign any special 'SalesTaxRef' to the Discount so I would also assume it would default to 'Tax'..but it didn't.
I have it working w/ the code snippit pasted from the items in the cart that applies 'Tax' [SalesTaxRef] to the Discount purposely 'if' the items are also taxed.
Boggles me too; any other places to look?

Re: Quickbook Sync

I have edited the example qwc file, and then select "Update web sevices" from quickbooks and navigate to the file. I asks me to verify the ssl cert, and when i say yes, it comes with an error message:

QBWebConnector - Error; Input string was not in a correct format. QBWC: The new application was not added.

Any ideas?

Re: Quickbook Sync

I am trying to get the add-on to work for the first time. I am getting a huge error message when updating. There appear to be 2 reoccuring themes. one is:

<?xml version="1.0" ?> <QBXML> <QBXMLMsgsRs> <ItemNonInventoryAddRs statusCode="3100" statusSeverity="Error" statusMessage="The name "GFR220833" of the list element is already in use." /> </QBXMLMsgsRs> </QBXML>

and the other is:

<?xml version="1.0" ?> <QBXML> <QBXMLMsgsRs> <ItemNonInventoryModRs statusCode="3170" statusSeverity="Error" statusMessage="There was an error when modifying a ItemNonInventory. Cannot use SalesAndPurchaseMod aggregate when the item is not reimbursable. " /> </QBXMLMsgsRs> </QBXML>

I have over 6000SKUs and it appears that each one generates each of these snippets of error message. Between the snippets there is additional info, but it does not seem be error messages.

The first one appears to be because I already have my products loaded in Quickbooks, but I don't have a clue about the 2nd.

Re: Quickbook Sync

A few months ago I installed QB Sync on another site and got it working, then apparently for no reason the app stopped authenticating with the identical error I'm getting now. At the same time I ended up not finishing the site so I never followed up on the problem. I am now installing QB Sync on another site and I've gone through the normal setup woes but I got everything working fine and I was just making changes in matching to finish up and all of a sudden I started getting an authentication error after just making a match change, so it's unlikely that had anything to do with it. Here is the error from the log with VERBOSE on, and below is what I've tried to fix it.

20100923.16:06:57 UTC	: QBWebConnector.SOAPWebService.do_authenticate() : Authenticating to application 'ZenCart Quickbooks Sync', username = 'mylogin'
20100923.16:06:57 UTC	: QBWebConnector.SOAPWebService.do_authenticate() : *** Calling authenticate() with following parameters:<userName="mylogin"><password=<MaskedForSecurity>
20100923.16:07:28 UTC	: QBWebConnector.SOAPWebService.do_authenticate() : QBWC1012: Authentication failed due to following error message.
Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded
More info:
StackTrace = at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall)
   at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters)
   at QBWebConnector.localhost.WCWebServiceDoc.authenticate(String strUserName, String strPassword)
   at QBWebConnector.localhost.WCWebService.authenticate(String strUserName, String strPassword)
   at QBWebConnector.SOAPWebService.authenticate(String UserName, String Password)
   at QBWebConnector.WebService.do_authenticate(String& ticket, String& companyFileName)

I've verified my site is online(having the site "down for maintenance" will cause this same behavior), I have uninstalled the app from the Web connector and re-installed it, verified that my QWC file contents have not changed, and cleared my browser cache, though I doubt this would be related .

Anyone have any other ideas of what to try?

Thanks.

Re: Quickbook Sync

FYI, I also have run the Troubleshooting QWC and it completes successfully. I'm starting to suspect something has gone haywire with the SOAP server (GoDaddy host). I'll contact them too, but if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I posted an issue right above yours, and I also use GoDaddy. I wonder if there is a connection?

Good thought, but I don't think so. I looked at yours and didn't reply because I didn't know the exact solution, but from my experience yours looks like a fixable error, either with matching(though I don't think that's it), required fields in the product not filled in, or an incompatible field value with ZenCart and QB. An example of one error I've seen several people have is if the "model" field in ZC is blank it will throw an error during the sync. It is not clear to me what other product fields are required or optionsl.

Something you should know is that errors rarely point directly at the problem, which makes it very hard to fix things like this when they happen.

Re: Quickbook Sync

Does this error make any sense to anyone?

There was an error when modifying a ItemNonInventory. Cannot use
SalesAndPurchaseMod aggregate when the item is not reimbursable.

Re: Quickbook Sync

Well, I think I am giving up. I can't figure out what the error above means. Perhaps I am just too much of a "newbie". Does anyone know how to uninstall? I can remove the new files that were addded, but what about the sql stuff? Did this make changes to my database?

I don't blame you, and right now I'm being forced to go that route too. I'm having no luck fixing my problem. It's tough trying to use a mod that basically isn't supported at all anymore. As far as the SQL, I kind of remember there may be instructions to remove it in an earlier post, but I may be thinking of another mod. If not, just leave it in there and forget it. It's not going to hurt anything.

You do know there are three or four commercial solutions out there that at least one is bound to work well. The unfortunate part is that they're about $170-$500. If someone would just make a decent one for under $100 I think they'd sell a ton of them. I'm just not in a position with my small business to be able to justify that kind of expenditure for one feature in my shopping cart. I will just do it manually for now and if the biz grows then we'll see. Even with my limited number of products, I'd sure like to have automatic inventory control between Zen and QB, which this mod doesn't bring you anyway. That's the main thing that would drive me to a commercial version.

Good luck.

Bill

Re: Quickbook Sync

bpryor -- While I don't make it here as much as I'd like to, I do try my best to support this mod. It really doesn't pull in any money for me, so it has to be last on my list of things to do -- I can barely keep up with everything else in my life! If you really need help, I encourage you to hire someone with more expertise. I've done several installs and setups for this mod, and it only takes a couple of hours. Once the mod is setup right, it does work great. I have yet to find any bugs. :)

Try this bpryor: Change the last number or letter in the unique codes (FileID and OwnerID) in the QWC example file. Reinstall the QWC connector file.
If that doesn't work, I suspect its your hosting. Easy to rule that out: Get a new host -- they are very cheap for a month. Do a full cpanel restore. See if it works. If it does, you've found the culprit. Complain bitterly to your host! Cheap, quick, and easy to troubleshoot! :)

SPembelton -- First error is because you are trying to add products that you already have in QB. This error is ok. It is coded to expect this error and ignore it because it means that the product is already there. You have three options: You can enable product matching in the setup, and then it will match these products. You can change the value of quickbooks in the products table to 1 for all products that are already in quickbooks and it will ignore them. Or, you can accept the error when it happens, and it will use the model number for identification.

As for your second error, it is occuring when it tries to update a product. The simple way to get around this is turn continuing sync off for products. Problem solved. But, of course, then products won't update. The better fix is a little more complicated. It has to do with whether or not the product is created with the SalesAndPurchase mod or the SalesOrPurchase mod. All products that are exported through QBSync use the SalesAndPurchase, so you must have added some products that use the SalesOrPurchase mod. If all your products use this, just search for SalesAndPurchase and change every instance to SalesOrPurchase. This MAY fix the problem. I really don't know much about these two different options in QB, but I do know SalesAndPurchase is the default, and QBSync was coded to work with SalesAndPurchase, not SalesOrPurchase. I think (key word is think) that SalesAndPurchase is for items that have both sales prices and purchase prices, and SalesOrPurchase is for one or the other.

Hi srturner47, thanks for responding. I really was not blaming you for not being here more, I super appreciate any developer that spends time on these forums supporting free mods. Personally I don't understand how anyone can justify doing it...in fact I never have been able to get my head around the free mod scenario. I'd rather everyone was charged $10-$20 or so for mods(trials would be necessary) and then there would be an incentive for long-time support.

srturner47:

Thanks for the lead. I'll try that and report back if it works.

I too suspect that it is a hosting issue. Great idea to setup a temporary new host, I wouldn't have thought of that.

Thanks for your help.
