Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

I'm using easy populate 1.2.5.7.csv. If I just add v_products_sort_order to the excel sheet, wold that work?

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Hello, I am running Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 on ZenCart 1.3.8 and I am trying to add a column (products_upc) to the file so that when I am adding new items I can include the UPC if the we have it.

We've added all the code to the easypopulate.php page like described, however when I run a Download Complete file the .txt file created does not have the newly added column :no:

What am I missing that would cause the Full EP file to download fine with all our items, however not have the new column for the UPC.

Thanks so much

This thread is specifically for 1.2.5.4, I have no idea about 1.2.5.7 but you will likely get an answer in another thread specifically related to that version.

UPC is one of the extra fields I added to the file in the first post, compare your file with that file by searching for upc in both to make sure that all of the lines have been added. And, you have added the upc column to your database table called products, correct?

I did notice you added it so I compared and to me they look the same. I've attached mine for you to look at. What am I missing :frusty:

THanks,

Did you add a column called upc to the database table called products?

That's what I was thinking...

Unless the field exists in the DATABASE, adding it to EP's php file will have no effect at all.

The column we added to our DB is called products_upc and is in the Products table.

I looked through your file and it looks good, I am not sure why it's not working. Have you tried inserting a column in the existing spreadsheet file, putting the heading v_products_upc in the first row, adding a value to a product and uploaded it? Try that to see if it's being inserted into the DB or if it's being ignored.

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Is there a way to add say 10 quantity discount fields to easy populate? I understand that it could be done - but would need avice from someone who has done something similar because I know there are some technicalties involved.

I saw when doing this you are meant to replace v_products_weight fields in the document. Does doing this mean that you can't use the Products weight any more. I use the shipping weight module and need this colum. Thanks for the help.

No, you don't REPLACE it...

You just FIND where it occurs (according to the method described in POST ONE of this thread, and use it as a "guide" for what other field you want to include.

eg

If you wanted to put the product sort order field in you would look for:

'v_products_weight'   => $iii++,
'v_products_id'   => $iii++,

... and insert it UNDER v_products_weight, copying the php bits exactly

'v_products_weight'   => $iii++,
'v_products_sort_order'   => $iii++,
'v_products_id'   => $iii++,

That is perfect. Thank you for the help!

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Here is a list of all the FIELDS in a standard Zencart PRODUCTS TABLE.

Using the technique described in POST ONE of this thread, it is possible to ADD any one (or more) of these fields to EP.

(NOTE: Some are ALREADY in EP... but you'd have to be really stupid not to know that!)

  • products_id
  • products_type
  • products_quantity
  • products_model
  • products_image
  • products_price
  • products_virtual
  • products_date_added
  • products_last_modified
  • products_date_available
  • products_weight
  • products_status
  • products_tax_class_id
  • manufacturers_id
  • products_ordered
  • products_quantity_order_min
  • products_quantity_order_units
  • products_priced_by_attribute
  • product_is_free
  • product_is_call
  • products_quantity_mixed
  • product_is_always_free_shipping
  • products_qty_box_status
  • products_quantity_order_max
  • products_sort_order
  • products_discount_type
  • products_discount_type_from
  • products_price_sorter
  • master_categories_id
  • products_mixed_discount_quantity
  • metatags_title_status
  • metatags_products_name_status
  • metatags_model_status
  • metatags_price_status
  • metatags_title_tagline_status

Is there a way to add fields not in this list. For example I sell auto parts and want to put in Vehicle Year (or year range), Vehicle Make, Vehicle model.

Is this possible?

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Adding fields to a database is one part of the project - (and is quite easy to do).

Getting the DATA into and out of the field(s) is a different story. You will need to modify a range of PHP files in order to get the data to show up in your site, and you will also need to modify the files that enable the data to be input in your admin section. This is more challenging, and you may require some expert help here.

Are the changes to the PHP files just insert a few words here and there, like how it is to add other items?

This is something that I would really like to be able to do, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

What you edit into various php files is entirely dependant on what you want the data to DO.

If you are not adept at:

  1. php Programming
  2. the Zencart Schema

... your best bet to to post for help in the Commercial Help section of the forum.

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Anyone ever have it just quit working, I have been running the MSRP module for many months and used this tutorial to get it to show up in EP and have been updating with EP but now it still works through the product section but it will not update through EP at all.
