This updated file will fix right side boxes and footer showing when users must be logged in to enter contest.
In the zip file is tpl_contest_default.php replace the original file with this one.
You will find the file location here includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_contest_default.php

Note: With this updated tpl_contest_default.php file you will need to be running PHP 5 >= 5.3.0

Contest normally only checks to see if a user is logged in. So not sure why you would get that error from contest.

Look in your zen cart cache folder and see if you have any error files. And if so what do they say.

If you turn off the contest do you still get the error?

The file name is .htaccess right not .hatccess

It is the setup of Hostgator that needs the fix here is a link that might fix it for you our contact tech support.

I have just downloaded the 1.7 version and I am excited about using this module, however I can not locate the install-sql-contest-v1.7.php file. It does not appear to be a part of the download.

You must be running ZC 1.5 to use Contest version 1.7
The Contest System will complete the install for you no longer needing a sql patch file.

Once you have uploaded all the files to there proper locations. You just need to log in to your ZC admin and the installation will complete itself.
Follow any screen instructions that might appear.

When you run install-sql-contest-v1.6.4.php you are logged in your zen cart admin?

And install-sql-contest-v1.6.4.php is in the admin folder?

I was logged in to the admin side.

I logged out and logged back in just to see.

I used Core FTP to upload the files to the site, and I have confirmed the presence of the install-sql-contest-v1.6.4.php file in the admin directory.

I have a question and i went through all the threads but didn't find an answer to it. I have custom headers for my sideboxes but the contest mod doesn't have the same header. You can see what I mean here:

You should change tpl_contest_sidebox.php to match the need header information in your template sideboxs.

You will find tpl_contest_sidebox.php in your /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/sideboxes folder.

1. In your template folder you have a sidebox folder?

2. tpl_contest_sidebox.php file is in that folder?

3. Should look like this: root/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/sideboxes/tpl_contest_sidebox.php

4. You should find the define_contestwinner.php file in your root/includes/languages\english/html_includes/YOUR_TEMPLATE/define_contestwinner.php

To sum it up it sounds like the files did not make it to your correct template folders.

YOUR_TEMPLATE == the name of your template folder.

When you select Modules->Contest Entries Admin

There should be a link upper right that states Setup/Configure Your Contest

In this new window is where you would setup your new contest.

Once a contest is completed you no longer have access to the information other then 1. Send emails to the contestants using the Tools->Send Emails 2. Delete all contestants records.
