Contest System [support thread]

Hi!

I created a new Admin Profile and assigned the Contest Entries Admin to the profile. I then assigned a user to the profile but they can still not access the page. I get the notice that they do not have permissions to view the page. How would I correct this?

When you are logged in as superuser the contest system works?

Locate this file YOUR_ADMIN/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/stats_prize_draw.php

Find

define('FILENAME_STATS_PRIZE_DRAW', 'stats_prize_draw.php');

Change to

define('FILENAME_STATS_PRIZE_DRAW', 'stats_prize_draw');

That should fix it.

When you select Modules->Contest Entries Admin

There should be a link upper right that states Setup/Configure Your Contest

In this new window is where you would setup your new contest.

Once a contest is completed you no longer have access to the information other then 1. Send emails to the contestants using the Tools->Send Emails 2. Delete all contestants records.

I cannot see the entrants for the current contest. Should I be able to? Thank you for the information regarding the past contests. I did, however, find that I could see the entrant information in the database tools that aren't in ZenCart.

I am running ZC1.5 but I do not see entrants names, although the num of entries continues to increase.

Can you supply me with the same screen shot of your admin that I did above?

or select three winners (first place, second place and third place), because now i can select a single winner.

The Contest System is not setup to do multiple winners but there is a way that you could it.

Create one product with the three prizes in it.

How to pick multiple winners.
Click [Pick Winner] button on Contests main admin page.
Click [Pick Winner] button on the Pick Winner page.
A winning contestant will be displayed with there name ,email, IP copy this information as this will be first place next click Select Another Winner [Pick Winner] copy there info and this would be second place, and lastly click Select Another Winner [Pick Winner] and this will be third place.

Then using the info that you copied email the winners.

I loaded the contest pages and it seemed to install without any issue and I can see the backend, but when I check out the contest page, it loads blank: http://fabledfabrics.com/store/index.php?main_page=contest

Any thoughts on why it would do that?

It looks like you are having trouble with your template.
Check that the files are in the correct template folders.

I used a backed up copy of my store and tried again and it appears as though the same thing is happening: http://fabledfabrics.com/store/index.php?main_page=contest

I went in and renamed all the files accordingly and merged the folders.

My db tables were successfully created.

Could my template be affecting it? Or one of my add ons?

I am using** zen cart 1.5 with the Abbiamo Supremo** template and the following add ons:

blackan buttons
captcha anti-robot registration

Look at your error logs in the cache folder. This might give you some in-site to what is happening.

The file that is not loading is /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_contest_default.php

I had the same problem as MaryPotter. My debug log shows the following:-

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /******/public_html/includes/templates/abbington_mega/templates/tpl_contest_default.php on line 80

I reinstalled and checked the folders. There may be the same files in the old templates we had, as this mod was working on previous zencart versions. Not sure if that would have any bearing on it though.

I had written version 1.7.1 for PHP version 5.3 and up. And now realized that ZC 1.5 will run under PHP version 5.2.14.
So I have rewritten the tpl_contest_default.php to work with 5.2.14 and up.

This fix will allow the contest main page to display.

For now download the attachment and unzip then install it here /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates replacing the old tpl_contest_defauly.php
