Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi,

Sounds like problem I had. I have just upgraded my PHP from version 4 to 5 and all is working fine. Can only suggest you check PHP version and ozpost version, I also removed old Austpost version.

Regards Cheryl.

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

The ozpost modules was working fine until a few days ago, the issue is with the shipment estimator; it just shows the flat rate instead of shipping options.

I've removed and reinstalled the files 3 times with no change to the issue.

Running Zencart V1.3.7.1 on a PHP5 server.

Below is a copy of debug view.

Your assistance as usual will be greatly appreciated.

Phil.

Yes, reinstalled everything three times.

Enable Letters as a valid shipping method OR, 'unhide' the parcel rates if items are letter sized.

Re: oz post shipping module help

I too have the error again.
Have just done a reinstall and done as you suggested Rod

Enable Letters as a valid shipping method OR, 'unhide' the parcel rates if items are letter sized.

Nothing changed, still have
MODULE_SHIPPING_OZPOST_COST_ON_ERROR_TYPE

any more suggestions?

Thanks Rod!

I did the second option ('unhide' the parcel rates if items are letter sized) and it's all working fine again.

Thanks again,
Phil.

Re: oz post shipping module help

Rod,

Great work on the new version. I've just updated my wife's ZenCart to 1.3.9 and the OzPost module to 2.0.6. It is brilliant.

I thought it might help if I post the solution to the problem I had last night, as it has taken my 4 hours to solve and was incredibly simple. Hopefully that way people won't bug you with this simply stuff up I made when upgrading.

This may apply to anyone who upgraded from 1.3.8 and the earlier versions of ozpost. The dead giveaway was that under the admin console I wasn't getting the module "Ozpost MultiQuote (Australia Post, TNT, FastWay Courier, Cost Per Item, Cost per Kg)" - it was looking for a missing icon in the admin directory (I noticed you had an earlier caller with the same problem).

SIMPLE SOLUTION
Make sure that you have "put" the two ozpost.php files:
includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php
and
includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/ozpost.php

I use Dreamweaver for the site management. When I had finalised everything on the test version and then went to synchronise and push everything up ... for some reason those two files were not seen as updated and were never pushed up. Everything else had been uploaded perfectly.

SYMPTOMS

  1. In the admin console, you don't see the module "Ozpost MultiQuote (Australia Post, TNT, FastWay Courier, Cost Per Item, Cost per Kg)"
  2. Getting the "Unexpected error (no valid methods). Using AP Flat Rate." result.
  3. With Debug turned on in the ozpost module (in admin) - when viewing the checkout page, it contacts the server correctly and returns feedback on the items in the cart, the weights, sizes, server response times ... but the table finishes with either the server response time or a message about using cached data. Below the debug table, you may either see your checkout page (badly formatted as the css won't be operating correctly with debug turned on) or maybe you'll get a blank page. You won't see any valid postage methods or error messages.

Hope this helps someone.

Regards

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

I am experiencing the same problem as "jour" did.

My shipping estimation is always the flat rate incase there is a problem, it doesn't Not show the actual shipping estimate?

I have installed and re-installed over 10 times now!

I did as you suggested above as well and it's still the same?

I never had this problem before?

Hope you can help.

What version of ozpost?
URL to your store (preferably a link to an item that shows the problem. If I have to 'guess' at an item I will find the only one in 1000 that doesn't have an issue).

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

Thank you for your response.
I managed to figure out the problem. It was in plain sight, the product I was testing it on had the incorrect weight!

I have installed your Module so many times over the years, I should've picked up on that before I posted my problem, must have had a mind blank :)

Sorry Rod :( but at least the Problem is fixed.

Cheers,

The latest version of ozpost is 2.0.9.
What version do you have?

What's your URL?

Could be the items are considered to be too large.

silkvixen:

  • plus if it does go over a weight option - shouldnt that opton dissapear?

Yes, but before it can dissapear, shouldn't it need to appear first?

silkvixen:

so like if its over 500g it will only show the 3kg ssatchel prices

Again, as long it is is also within the size restrictions.

Enable the 'debug' option, see if that provides any clues.

Could be the items are considered to be too large.
the largest item i have is 60x50x8 and that is actually the only product that i have set the sixe on - allthe others are weight based

Yes, but before it can dissapear, shouldn't it need to appear first? yes

Again, as long it is is also within the size restrictions.

Enable the 'debug' option, see if that provides any clues.

You don't need to convince me about what will fit into a pre-paid satchel, you need to convince the module. :-)

Re: oz post shipping module help

silkvixen:

  1. It was ALSO the dimensions that changed.
  2. There is no such thing as a "default product" - Only default dimensions which are probably going to be incorrect most of the time.

silkvixen:

  • which it seems to be basing the quoted prices off

THe module uses 'real world' scenarios. When it comes to fitting into a satchel the weight and the raw dimensions are used, never the cubed dimensions. The cubed dimensions are only used for 'parcels' and even then only if the parcel is over 1kg AND the cubing rules are applicable. In most cases they are not.

silkvixen:

This is the 'important' information to look at.... it shows the data that is sent to the server (note: the cubic weights are NOT sent), it also show what the server has returned as valid quotes... In this case, note the absense of the pre-paid satchels. ... the reason in THIS example is that your parcel lengh (60cm) is larger than any of the satchel available (500gm = 40x30
and the 3kg = 56x47 -- Hmmm, 50cm wide is also too large for a satchel.

Based on the data provided, the only valid methods of delivery are those listed in the "Server Returned:" section. If you have one or more of these 'disabled' by the admin settings then those disabled will also be missing from the final list displayed. If ALL of those methods have been disabled the module will then fall back to the 'static' method or quoting by cost per item, cost per kg, or flat rate,

silkvixen:

The pre-paid stachels are not as large as you think they are :-)

Cheers
