Re: oz post shipping module help

That's interesting. I just went and tried the same product, and got:

Available Shipping Methods Rates
( Unexpected error (no valid methods). Using AP Flat Rate.) $13.00

I'm using Internet Explorer 7, although I don't know if that would make a difference.

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hey Lissy,

I just went to your website...
http://learnheaps.com/zencart/science/crystal-growing-science-kit-sapphire-blue

And added that to my cart to test it for you, I am using both IE7 & IE8, it worked fine, ONLY after you put your postcode in the required box!

When I first clicked Estimate shipping I got the same error you are getting (Unexpected error (no valid methods). Using AP Flat Rate.))

Try disabling ALL other shipping mods in your modules/shipping section and then see how you go, that should fix it!

Re: oz post shipping module help

Maybe it was just a temporary glitch - it's working for me again now as well.
Both sites now appear to be working, although my friend's site still comes up with an error, although I've noticed now that the wording is different.
Theirs says:
"ERROR:Unable to obtain a valid quote from the Australia Post Server."
Fingers crossed the gremlins have gone away.

Thanks for double checking this.

The Information below is for no one in particular:

The reason this "error" is occurring, is, as stated, due to the lack of destination postcode.

Some people have always had this problem on account of the fact that they have incorrectly installed the tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php file.

This modified file checks for the no postcode condition and if it's empty it displays a "disclaimer" text along with the destination input boxes instead of trying to produce a quote for an unknown destination. (error)

If this behaviour has changed of its own accord, it is because:

A) a different template is being in the store.

B) the customised tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php file has been deleted.

C) the customised tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php file was used to overwrite the original tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php file, and this file has recently been re-written by the zencart default (during an upgrade or restore).

I think that covers all possibilities.

Cheers

Re: oz post shipping module help

I think it must be gremlins!
I was getting the error with or without the postcode being entered when I first tested it, so it wasn't just user error.
I also haven't touched any of the files in months.
The fact that it started playing up on both my sites at the same time was what made me wonder if the feed from Australia Post was having some problems.
Oh well, it's working again now so I guess I'll just have to put it down as one of those weird things that happen sometimes.

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hello,

I have just installed OzPost on a client's 1.38a site, and I get a blank table where my rates should be:

http://www.hollyjayne.com/

I've tried the US and Australia with a post code, but get the same results. Sometimes the shipping estimator box doesn't show on the cart page at all. When I go to check out, there is no shipping method, and it doesn't let me continue to the next step.

I uploaded all files and I've overwritten tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php with your file in my template.

Here are some of my admin settings:

Dispatch Postcode: 4216

Shipping Methods for Australia
Regular Parcel, Insured Parcel, Express Parcel, Express Parcel Insured

Shipping Methods for Overseas
Air Parcel, Insured Air, Express Parcel (EPI), Express Parcel Insured (EPI)

Handling fees all set to 0

Parcel Weight format: gms

Use cURL?: Yes

Please let me know how I can get this working. Thanks!

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Aeolidia,

Just tested your website and the Shipping Module didn't even appear at times, and when it did, I inputed my Postcode but it just did nothing!

I would say it's a missing file or maybe a template issue!
I also noticed the weight is displayed in (lbs) on the Product page, however you said it was in (gms)?

Why not try switching back to the (contempory green - classic) template and see if it works then. That way you can test to see where the problem might be coming from.

That's my two cents :) Now it's over to you Rod!

Re: oz post shipping module help

aeolidia:

Hello,
I have just installed OzPost on a client's 1.38a site, and I get a blank table where my rates should be:

As I've come to expect, another case of "garbage in, garbage out".

I've just tested using a random product from your store, namely,
"Annabelle", and I note that she apparently only weighs 0.11grams or 0.00011kg (including TARE).

This produces an "invalid weight" response from the servers (you can verify this by enabling the DEBUG option).

Solution: Use ACCURATE weights.

aeolidia:

I uploaded all files and I've overwritten tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php with your file in my template.

The tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php file is supposed to go into your custom/overrides folder. However, this file has no effect on the ability of the module to produce quotes (it will work quite well even without this modified file, which basically takes care of a couple of cosmetic issues)

aeolidia:

Here are some of my admin settings:

Shipping Methods for Australia
Regular Parcel, Insured Parcel, Express Parcel, Express Parcel Insured

Important: With these settings you have manually disabled all possibilty of sending items at letter rates. This means that if there IS an item in the cart that could be sent as a letter, that option won't be displayed - However, by default this item won't be quoted as a parcel either, because there is another setting that reads "Hide parcel rates if letter sized", and this is set to 'yes' by default - Which ultimately means you'll get no quote at all for such items (the module assumes you'll be sending such items via another method entirely), IF you want the module to quote parcel rates for letter sized items then you'll need to change this setting to "no".

Personally, I'd be leaving it set as 'Yes' and re activating Letters as a valid shipping method, otherwise you are pretty much ripping your customers off with any letter sized items that you may have in your store.

aeolidia:

Parcel Weight format: gms

With this setting, assuming "Annabelle", weighs 100gms, you'll need to enter her weight as "100".
If you change this setting to Kgs, you'll need to enter her weight as "0.100"

With you current settings you have given her a weight of 0.1gm - She had might as well weigh nothing :-)

I can't/won't say this is going to solve all of your issues (I'm a bit concerned about the truncated output that I see when no quotes are available), which would suggest there is probably another issue as well - but this'll need to be taken care of (if needed) after you have taken care of the more 'obvious' problem.

Cheers

I think that what you have said could well be a secondary issue that'll need to be looked into after the weight issue has been resolved.
I approve of your suggestion

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

I am clutching at straws at the moment having tried all the usual suspects for what I think might have happened - your advice earlier in this thread pointed to my main suspicions : that it was a template issue.

I have just done an upgrade of 1.3.8a to 1.3.9d and followed the build a separate tree, create a new db, restore old db to new db, run installer as upgrade, switch trees around, copy templates/languages/images etc as best I could...

Things seem to be working and indeed I was able to then follow the OZPOST shipping module 2.0.6 instructions to do a clean install of it replacing the (backed up) admin and other includes/ files as required.

The module was subsequently able to be installed and appeared immediately enabled; at first I got some weird doubling up of some of the fields and your business logo, but I disabled the module, uninstalled it, reinstalled it and enabled it. This brought it back online with the previous settings and config'd numbers etc.

All looked good to go and having checked various other template and language and layout things I brought the shop back on line and logged in and started testing.

Again, everything was working, no errors, directory permission issues etc etc etc.

But when I go for a shipping estimate I get the rather bare box showing only the flat rate and walk in - now flat rate is uninstalled and there is no sign of the oz post.

I went about reinstalling the includes/ tree to make sure that the templates were ok ensuring that the :
tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php
was in my active template (overwriting it again)

still the module doesn't seem to work.

Can you make some suggestions as to where I have gone wrong please?

h t t p : / / w w w . c o o l h o b b i e s . c o m . a u /

add anything and estimate - you should see the dimensions and weight and so forth are there but the template doesn't look right and the actual shipping options are not flowing through.

Thank you for this product I have been using it for ages, but never in the 2.x versions and certainly not as an upgrade after a zen iupgrade

Best regards and TIA,
Will

I suggest you uninstall any and all ozpost modules you have installed, then install V2.0.6 as a fresh installation.

I'm not sure exactly what is going on, but I can tell you that whatever code is currently operational it is NOT ozpost 2.0.6 (I'm guessing it's 1.0.2)

Re: oz post shipping module help

Thanks Rod,
So I logged in as admin, disabled the Oz Post Shipping Module (see screenie showing version), Uninstalld the Oz Post Module, re-upload the 2.0.6 files overwriting and ensuring that the template is uploaded to.
Then installd and updated;

None of the file overwrites were different in byte count but it all went smoothly.

Still doing the same thing :? I think something has been broken during the upgrade - any suggestions? I was very thorough and am out of ideas at the moment.
Thanks for the fast reply :)

Not quite. At least it is now contacting the server.

Your current problem, based on a randomly selected item is invalid weights.

I just tried to buy one of your ultra lightweight batteries (0.22gms)
Aren't they usually about 1000 times heavier than this? :wink2:

Cheers
Rod

ps. don't let the display text fool you.

Re: oz post shipping module help

Thank you Rob. I switched the weight of one of the batteries from 0.06 (which I presume is meant to be 6 gms) to 6 and OzPost came up with its recognisable shipping quote! I realise that now i have to recall where i changed the default weight calculations from the previous version. I find that the upgrade of zen-cart itself is quite tricky with all the necessary diffing of directories and files from the unmodified tree of the old version with the old version and then the install and subsequent upgrade of the database and transplanting of the tree to the old web target. This is probably a snack to old hands but has made me nervous that I have missed soemthing - I might have to get vcsweb to do this for my client in future :)

Thanks for you help and insight it is truly appreciated.

Re: oz post shipping module help

EDIT= It was even simpler than I thought - the shop was calculating in kgs and the product was correctly 0.06 and the OzPost was set to gms - so yes of course thing were 1/1000th of what they should have been - and therefore "They are only shown when no other methods are available, eg: server offline, network glitches, etc." thank you for your patience and a great software for us Aussies!

Re: oz post shipping module help

RodG:

To the best of my current knowledge this is a suitable configuration.

One other thing to check though (since it is quite an old version of PHP5 that you are using), is to check that "SimpleXML" is installed and operational. I know that it is installed and enabled by default with PHP5.1 and up, I'm not sure about V5.0 though.

To test/check this load the same page that you did before (click on 'version' from zencart admin panel), the search the page for something like:

SimpleXML
Simplexml support enabled
Revision $Revision: 1.151.2.22.2.46 $
Schema support enabled

The important part is "Simplexml support enabled"

Did it offer any clues?

Click on the following link.

http://ozpost.vcsweb.com/postage.php?fromcode=5000&destcode=6000&weight=10&height=1&width=2.5&length=2.9&value=200&flags=0&host=example&version=1.0

This should give you an example of the data that gets sent back to the server. If it produces any errors (such as timing out) then you have a network/connectivity problem. However, if it returns valid data we can eliminate this as a possible cause of your problem.

Cheers
Rod

Hello Rod,

I have read this thread as I have the same problem with no rate options being shown. I checked suggestions and have SimpleXML enabled, CURL support enabled and running PHP Verion 5.0.5.

I am setting up store offline at the moment, have upgraded to Zen verion 1.3.9d and installed your new ozpost v2.0.6. I do not have the flat rate module or freeshipper module running however when I put it on I get the flat rate displayed as the Ozpost has flat rate set for the error cost type.

I have noticed since upgrading Zen when you put in a new product it does not have anywhere to put in the product dimension (height, width and length) only weight which I have setup as gms. Did I miss setting something to add dimensions to product items?

One of my ozpost debugging messages is as follows:
Debugging information
Item 1 Creative Memories Perfect Fit Reds
Attribute Item Parcel
Qty 1 Weight gms Qty 1 Weight 209gms
Dimensions 29 x 25 x 2.5 29 x 25 x 2.5
Cube 1812.5cc 1812.5cc
CubicWeight 0.453125Kgs 0.453125Kgs

Submitted: Length=29.00cm. Width=25.00cm. Height=2.50cm Weight=209.00gms NumBoxes=1
Using Cached quotes
AU,6000,25.00,2.50,29.00,209.00,12

Question is was there a solution to this issue and or would you have any additional suggestions for me to resolve this?

I did have in my old zen installation your Austpost module which I had working to some degree which was great but then postage rates in Australia changed and a new version of Zen came out hence my upgrading.

Look forward to any suggestions and thank you for your time.

Regards Cheryl.

Hi Rod,

Now worked out I have wrong version of PHP, uploaded to my site and ran ozpost install and get following error:

This module requres PHP5 or higher to work.
Most Webhosts will support this.
Installation will NOT continue.

Have contacted my provider to find out if and how I can upgrade PHP version from 4.4.9 to 5 or higher.

Regards Cheryl.
