oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod, I am trying t use magenticones quickbooks integration for our accounting but am hitting my head against a wall and have bruises showing!

The issue

Aussie Post has gst included in the total price, which we have to quote customers, it sits outside of where zen cart does pre and post gst calculations, so quickbooks is importing it as pre gst and adding another 10%.

Is there anything we can do, happy to email some screen shots of zencart invoice and QB so you can see. QB sees postage cahrges as another item, then calculates everything together for gst purposes.

Hi Rod, I am trying t use magenticones quickbooks integration for our accounting but am hitting my head against a wall and have bruises showing!

I don't know a thing about these addons.

jazzah:

The issue

Aussie Post has gst included in the total price,

Only for posting within Australia. Overseas parcels are GST free

jazzah:

which we have to quote customers, it sits outside of where zen cart does pre and post gst calculations,

I really have no idea what "it sits outside of where zen cart does pre and post gst calculations" means.

jazzah:

so quickbooks is importing it as pre gst and adding another 10%.

I know nothing about quickbooks

jazzah:

Is there anything we can do,

I don't know - As I said, I'm not sure what you are actually asking for or wanting to do.

jazzah:

happy to email some screen shots of zencart invoice and QB so you can see.

No thanks. I can't hep with things I don't know about.

jazzah:

QB sees postage cahrges as another item,

So does zencart.

jazzah:

then calculates everything together for gst purposes.

And zencart calculates gst based on the summing of individual items.

The net result is always going to be the same regardless of whether GST is calculated based on the sum of the items (inc postage) or whether the GST is first added and then summed.

If QB is adding GST to charges with GST already included then surely this is an issue you need to solve with QB rather then zencart or the postage module? On the other hand, if you are trying to provide QB the shipping data pre-GST prices then I'd be starting to wonder how zencart could provide a GST inclusive amount to your customers and at the same time provide non GST prices to an external system. Zencart doesn't store these values seperately, you can have or or the other, not both at the same time.

Anyway, there is a good chance that I'm still misunderstanding what you are trying to tell me especially in regards to "Iit sits outside of where zen cart does pre and post gst calculations",

Cheers
Rod

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

Ok Qb imports all other items correctly and the gst is correct, however it imports the shipping amount as the pre gst amount and then adds gst again, when it is inclusive of gst.

So the postage has to be different to how zencart sees the other items in terms of gst? or else they would all do that?

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

Just installed this Mod on one of my latest websites Zen-cart version 1.3.9a.
It seems to be working fine for now!
The fix I did a few postings earlier, regarding the (missing icon), didn't seem to work in 1.3.9a, It did however require a creation of a couple of new folders in admin for it to find the icon, so it's showing now!

How do I remove the (Dims: 11x11x11) and (Boxes:) from the Shopping Cart total?

I've set the Shopping Cart Total to 3 in admin which now hides the weight!

Awaiting your further response.

Best Regards,

Jazzah

Have you set the ozpost 'tax class' to indicate that this is subject to GST?

It may be a bit counter intuitive, but enabling this setting doesn't add GST to the amounts returned by the servers - Instead, what it does is subtract the GST amounts (so that zencart can re-add them without doubling up).

Cheers

ozpost V1.0.2 (and above) doesn't, and isn't supposed to be using any icons in the admin section of the cart. However there is/was a broken link for one of them that didn't get removed as it was supposed to. This was fixed in later updates available via this forum.

The fact that you (and a couple of others) have proceeded to 'fix' the broken link that shouldn't exist in the first place, is all very well but it is almost certainly going to lead to the exact same problem(s) that caused me to remove them in the first place. You are better off putting up with the broken link. (or use one of the upgraded modules that removes the link rather than 'fixing' it). What you have done is a 'bad thing'.

rlexyd:

Delete the tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php file that came with the ozpost distribution file (it should be in your overrides directory). If you didn't use the overides then you'll need to replace this file with an original copy from the zencart distribution files. [/quote]

GST was selected in the shipping module, I am going to see what happens if I deselect it!

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

Sorry about that, should have known better Not to do that :(
I tried other ozpost version to fix the broken link and none of them seem to work!
Again, it worked on my earler zen-cart version, but not 1.3.9a.

Here's what I did to remove the annoying no show icon from admin/shipping module, Please tell me if that was a correct method!
I removed the whole of line 78 from the Includes/Modules/Shipping/ozpost.php, which was ....$this->logo = $template->get_template_dir('ozpost_logo.jpg', '','' ,'images/icons'). '/ozpost_logo.jpg';.....

That seemed to fix the problem, and replace the icon which wasn't showing with just the Alt/title :)

As for the Dim: & Boxes, I removed the CUSTOM/tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php, but the default one doesn't align the state and other text correctly when address has not been chosen!
I would rather stick with your tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php, can you just show me what I need to take out to remove the Dim: and Boxes: please Rod?

Thank you once again!

Well that made no difference, I know this is an OZ post thread! But you are all Aussies and I am curious how you manage your accounting, do any of you import data from zencart?

rlexyd:

In that case sooner or later you are going to run into serious issues, because if you keep going back to the older version(s) in the hopes that your problems with the new versions will magically resolve themselves you will end up in a situation that could eventually be too old for me to even consider helping you resolve.

rlexyd:

Again, it worked on my earler zen-cart version, but not 1.3.9a.

I have checked this quite extensively, all available versions of the ozpost module are 1.3.9a compatible.

Sorry, but not interested. The problem has already been fixed (v1.0.4, V1.06, and the 'soon to be released, but availalbe via the forum V2.0.x)

Discussing your personal 'fix' can only be detrimental to progress.

rlexyd:

As for the Dim: & Boxes, I removed the CUSTOM/tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php, but the default one doesn't align the state and other text correctly when address has not been chosen!

You'll need to take this matter up with the devs. The default shipping_estimator.php file has nothing to do with me ;-)

rlexyd:

I would rather stick with your tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php, can you just show me what I need to take out to remove the Dim: and Boxes: please Rod?

Inspect the code and the changes needed should be self evident.
Custom coding doesn't come without a price.

You only needed to reinstall once.

I'm sure the zencart 1.3.9 upgrade instructions mentioned that code changes required that all shipping modules would need to be re-installed.

As for rates being a little high - Does GIGO mean anything to you?

If the module is provided with accurate data it will provide accurate quotes.
If the rates are different than you expect then you are not being quoted on what you think you are. Try enabling the debug option.

Re: oz post shipping module help

Hi Rod,

Thank you once more for taking the time to help :)

I never went back to previous version, the only version I use is the one from the Zen-Cart Download section which is 1.0.2, (Don't see other Versions there? Are they somewhere else?) and then I replace ozpost.php with the 1.0.6 link you gave me prior which is below!!

I just figured out what needs to be edited in my (includes/templates/CUSTOM/templates/tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php) so I can Remove the Dimensions & Boxes!

Here is what I did incase anyone else is interested...

Replace line 27 FROM THIS:

<div class="cartTotalsDisplay important"><?php echo $totalsDisplay." Dims: ".$_SESSION['slength']."x".$_SESSION['swidth']."x".$_SESSION['sheight']." Boxes: ".$_SESSION['boxes'] ; ?></div>

TO THIS:

<div class="cartTotalsDisplay important"><?php echo $totalsDisplay; ?></div>

&

Replace line 49 FROM THIS:

<div class="cartTotalsDisplay important"><?php echo $totalsDisplay." Dims: ".$_SESSION['slength']."x".$_SESSION['swidth']."x".$_SESSION['sheight']." Boxes: ".$_SESSION['boxes'] ; ?></div>

TO THIS:

<div class="cartTotalsDisplay important"><?php echo $totalsDisplay; ?></div>

That did the trick for me :)

As for the missing icon, I did use the 1.0.6 file you told me to look for prior, but the icon was still there!! I replaced the 1.0.2v with the 1.0.6v, (includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php):

www.zen-cart.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=6771&d=1260455739

Have a good night Rod, enjoy the Full Moon from Adelaide :)

This is/was the correct procedure.
V1.0.2 is the only version currently available in the d/loads section.

There is a V2.0.x still waiting in the wings to be documented and packaged, but I keep getting sidetracked from completing it. (I've also been in been in bed with a fever for the last 4 days, emerging only for short periods to keep up with my emails, etc).

Re: oz post shipping module help

Is there currently a problem with the data feed from Australia Post?
Both my ZenCart sites are coming up with the error
"Unexpected error (no valid methods). Using AP Flat Rate."
I only worked this out because I went to buy from someone else's ZenCart site, and got the same error there.
So that's 3 sites!
Any suggestions? It was working okay last week as far as I know - people made purchses with postage!

What version of ozpost?

Do you have a URL so I can see the problem for myself?
