Image Handler 3 Support Thread (for ZC v1.3.9)

I just tried that, it didn't work. It's the same size as the others but this is the only one that gives me problems. It's strange, it only happens in this slot on the categories page. What ever product is on the first slot gives me that error.

did you post a link so we could see too?

Is there any special characters in the name of the product? Sometimes the store doesn't like it.

Is the actual image named wrong...special characters/too long?

An example of what you see in admin as the item in both the listing and the IH part would --possibly help...a screenshot.

template you are using---does it do it in default one too.

have you made sure all files are in the correct places?

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread (for ZC v1.3.9)

It's the first item in the list that's giving me problems.
http://mandarinusa.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=13&zenid=0ef302db4fb6b6f03973e2d4ccc385c0

The file name has underscores but so does many other and they don't give me problems. Everything else works fine.

Here's a screenshot of IH on my admin
http://mandarinusa.com/images/screenshot.jpg

Everything loads up fine. But when I deactivate this product, the next one down does the same thing.

I made a copy of the product. Notice how the new one works but the first one doesn't. I just used the copy function in zen cart

ok I clicked the link for the item and when I clicked the product image to go to description page---I got a white page totally devoid of anything

please go to your cache folder and see if there is anything in there telling of an error and post it please

admin section looked alright but then right now all does cause I just won a wrestling match with mr turkey...he is slippery...lol

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread (for ZC v1.3.9)

Hi!

Quick question. Is the imagehandler able to handle images of size 9000x7000 pixels?
I'm having some troubles, but only with very large images it seems.
Is it any way to configure it to work on these large images if this is the problem?

HansyBear: no way. Ever heard of optimizing images? I recommend no larger than 500px by 500px for any website ever.

mojojojouci: that may well be your problem. I just posted recently that I found odd problems like you are talking about because of what happens when an image is too large to handle.

yup i did the same a little way back, i found that reducing my images to around 500px helped both the image handler rendering and also my page speed before that i wasnt getting 404 errors and frozen pages.

Hansybear don't forget that search engine placement relies a lot heavier on page speed nowadays i would recommend installing
Firebug and page speed on Firefox if you haven't already got it.

also as a customer and shop owner i think an image which is larger than your screen size is pointless, frustrating and a waste of system resources - no matter what product type you are selling/buying

Thanks for the quick answer.

Yeah i know of image optimization, it's only that the guy that's adding all the products have got a chaotic system of images in various sizes, and he's not too good with computers.
I guess i can go over there and resize the images that are too big.

Well if he's going to be responsible for adding products to your website, then he needs to be engaging in proper procedures. So he either has to resize those images to more manageable sizes before attempting to upload them to your site or you will have to do it for him. Image Handler will re-size and optimize the images, but it will have a hard time managing, optimizing and resizing images which are too big to begin with..

Those images can be batched to the correct size if someone has the correct software. If he's a customer needing you to fix the problem, then that's what you offer him - for more money!

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread (for ZC v1.3.9)

Hello, I have a question about product images. When I list 4 or so images to come up for a product and list there LRG images too, I get the larger images under the small icon ones at the bottom but cannot navigate around the image. Is there a way that when you go to larger image you can pan through the image as at the momment it just zooms into a particular section of the small image and cannot move around, cheers presh.

please read the readme inclosed in the package...it goes into great detail on naming your images. It is very easy to read...is sectioned for ease...a big shame they went to all the trouble to create such a beautifullly put together readme and not many are reading it thoroughly.

basically...do not use LRG for additional images anymore. or MED either

v1.3.9hI don't understand your question.. A link to your site and a better explanation of what it is you are asking would really help.. The image hover doesn't do anything other than display a pop-up of the image you hover over.. (you can choose the popup image to display in the image settings.. see the readme for more details on the image settings..)

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread (for ZC v1.3.9)

Hi, all, i've looked through most of the pages in this support thread and the readme file, and i don't think my question has been asked, so sorry for repeating if i have missed it.
It mentions that "you upload your highest quality image and it will do the rest" What if you already cropped and optimized your images, how does IH treat them?
I have done the 3 sizes image thing and now want to do the single image IH thing, with subfolders. Will i be undertaking too much work?
I have 1.3.9h running on my local server and was intending to install IH3, but if i import the DB from my site will i need to reasign the images to all the products as from scratch or will IH automatically find them even though they will be in subfolders?
Is there a better way to do this?
There are a few questions in there but i hope it all made sense.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
