problem with upgrade from v151 to v153 - help please

The test performed was that the customer tried re-downloading his books after I told him the problem was fixed. I did the same on my end, using the backdoor script to access his account. I don't know whether he cleared his cache or not, but I did. And in his case and mine, the downloads failed.

Per lhungil's suggestion, I uploaded the original enhanced file to the /download/ folder. He (she?) didn't mention any other place I should upload it. I gather, from your question, that it should also be re-uploaded to the /pub/ folder. Doing that now.

If setting in attributes settings is to download by redirect, then yes would need it in pub as well... But if not, then would need more information which the questions are/were to lead to the solution paths expected based on the answer(s). Also, because lhungil identified/discussed both the pub and the download folder, the question was to identify exactly what was done. Basically, answering the questions asked would provide a wealth of information on how to move forward (for you and anyone that might come across the same situation and was following the thread) hopefully though the solution(s) will be identified after this problem is solved...

No problem. The only thing I see there that "might" be an issue and if I'm corrected I need to make a change to the description for it in my admin panel is that supposedly there is no added value of having both redirect and streaming enabled. Per the description I have in a 1.5.1 site, if redirect is off, then may need to stream based on memory "issues" and that if redirect is on, then the setting is "ignored". Without looking through the code specifcally, I can't confirm the ignored part.

So what about the permissions on the pub directory, are they 777 like is suggested in the redirect option description?

Or I guess the correct question is, did updating the pub folder fix the issue? Nowing that there is a loing on there. :)

Permissions are set to 777...waiting to find out if it worked this time or not.

I tested an order for $0.01 and the download worked on a file for the extension .azw3 without an issue ...

Heaven forbid someone get upset about spending time on getting something free. :) (yes, I know if there are problems getting something free, what's to say getting the paid for item will be any "better".)

Fyi, I haven't gone to try the same free download, but on a customer service side of things, hopefully that note isn't just on the product page (though some extra words about it downloading with purchase of a product might actually encourage a buy). By the time checkout is complete, a lot has been seen and that note may have been forgotten. Could add a check in the order file when generating the email to include something about it and/or at checkout completion/success, etc... Also, regardless of the notifications, there is likely to be someone that will be upset regardless. :)

We'll work on putting that together, thanks for the ideas. Mostly that free book is aimed at would-be authors rather than readers, so it hasn't been an issue yet. I would like to get the free-download script working properly one of these days...just don't have the time to fight with it for another week right now. :-/

If on the Free Product you are not seeing the checkout_confirmation page and have COWOA installed, see if the file:
\includes\templates\template_default\templates\tpl_checkout_confirmation_default .php

has the line:

This will stop the information from displaying as there is no value to the $_SESSION['cart']->show_total() on a free product ...

I checked the file, and that line is not there.

Is that file in your templates and overrides?
