GoDaddy PayPal error - (77) error setting certificate verify locations
Hey everyone,
Katie from GoDaddy here. I’m part of the hosting group and was one of the people who saw this thread and said, “Oh [expletive] – we need to fix this.” With the help of a number of our developers we managed to squash the bug and everyone’s Zen Cart should happily chug along now.
The issue was related to our interactions with a software provider which directly impacted the CURL and SSL certificates. We’d think we had a patch that fixed it, only to find Zen Cart sites broken again a few hours later. The strange thing was that the environment had been working for almost a year before this started happening.
Long story short, we finally rooted out this issue and got its patch to stick and all of the Zen Cart sites have been working for nearly 24 hours. That’s well beyond our previous patch’s relapse time, so we’re almost certain this is is fixed. However, if you start noticing the issue again, shoot me an email at ktole @ godaddy. com.
Setbacks like this are horrible. The last thing we want is for anyone’s site to be down. This stuff’s complicated and – of course – only ever happens unexpectedly. We wish we could simply flip a switch or roll something back to fix it, but this issue was one of those things which was too complicated for that.
Thanks for hanging through this with us.
Regards,
Katie Tole
