I just restored to a working date and still not working

spawnie69:

I know I had this template installed, I unfortunately do no have a backup since my downloads break when too big.
Can this happen? Weird cause I can see /public_html/includes/templates/responsive_sheffield_blue but all I see are three folders
/templates
/sideboxes
/commmon

which should have my missing files
Good, not going crazy I just taken a look at my banner files and see my slider images for sheffield blue.

Re: I just restored to a working date and still not working

I really think my host is not giving complete files or something, I literally have to upload all the sheffield files.

Re: I just restored to a working date and still not working

I needed to upload the template file again less my images because I knew my slider images were done.
The files I used are not what I had on the 11th, depite what was there. even the March 5th date shows not complete files for bkue shef.

Can server screw this up and can I ask them to fix this?

Again, if there is nothing in the myDebug-xxxx.log files located in the /logs or /cache folders, then the "cause" of the 500 error should show up in the server's Apache/PHP error-log in your hosting control panel.

Some servers refuse to run any .php file that has a permission set to 777 (and will throw the generic 500 error in that case) ... so maybe double-check that none of the files under your /admin/ subdirectory (and all its sub-subdirs) have 777 permissions (ie: 755 max is most common)

Again, the actual details will be in the server's logs.

And once you've resolve a certain error, it's helpful to yourself if you delete the myDebug-xxx.log file that contains the errors for those resolved situations, so you can more easily tell which issues are "new".

Was thinking about this situation. So it is a good idea to talk with them about it, but seeing that they offer restore points as far back as they do it makes me wonder if they use incremental backups... Basically capturing changes since a known oldest point... Restoration requiring going back to the oldest recorded point and then restoring each point along the way... At each such point they have captured what changed not necessarily the then set of files... To that end yes, you should speak with them. There may be a fee to fully restore everything to said known point...

wow. I have MS and I thought was losing it even more. Yes! I believe that incremental backups. I mention to them and they had no clue. I wonder if it's worth the fight (I'm the little customer you know) ? or do I continue.....hope fully nothing else is broken.

Made sure all admin folders set to 755.

I see no errors in cpanel error log.

I just got:
[18-Mar-2016 17:03:10 America/Denver] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function zen_create_random_value() in /xxxxx/xxxxx/public_html/includes/classes/shopping_cart.php on line 1244

and this again:

[18-Mar-2016 17:06:21 America/Denver] PHP Fatal error: Class 'zcPassword' not found in /xxxx/xxxx/public_html/includes/functions/password_funcs.php on line 15

I uploaded this 2x now so it must be something else.

Re: I just restored to a working date and still not working

well, the create_random_value thing is related to a missing/wrong functions file ... remember the other day you had a similar error because 2 files had the same function in them, and that was because of a mod changing one. This time you're missing it altogether.

And the zcPassword class failure is a result of the file not being found in the /includes/classes folder.

It's starting to look a lot like your problems are all related to issues with restoring files and/or uploading/transferring files to your server.

It appears so.

I spoke to BH and they gave me a special link to login to that will assure me all the files will be there. sounds like harry potter

It has a box # in the url and once logged in i saw two unique buttons for my download one dated 3/12 and 3/17
I choose to download the 12th because I did not start restoring until after.

Very slow download.

So maybe, just maybe there is hope for me yet.
