Yes, I just noticed that our site hosted there is down today as well. I'm hoping it's not too bad, or too long...

Hello, do you or anyone know what may be the problem over at Camelot Hosting? If anyone out there knows how to reach them or get a message to them please let me know. Thank you, Thomas

I had a customer tell me that when he sent a message to my Camelot-hosted email account, it gave him a message that the email address may be a fraudulent one or maybe it said it was not a secure email address. I didn't know if this would have anything to do with their servers being down or if this would be a different issue? I have moved my website to a different platform but still have my domain name and email at Camelot. Since I no longer have my website here, I let me SSL certificate expire. Could it have to do with this?
Thanks
Scott

OK, they are down, it happens. They have been down for several days and its starting to cost me money!! Since their sight it down I cant contact them there. I did a "who is" search and got two phone numbers that are both disconnected. I need to get ahold of them and see what is going on!! If they were going to be down more than a day they should at least have a FB page or something where information could be posted but at this point it looks like they have cut and run. Anyone out there able to give me a good phone number where I can call and see what they heck is up???

They've been down hard for two days. Yesterday afternoon, my homepage would show a directory list but the directories were empty. This morning it defaults to a missing .cgi default page, so they are apparently slowly rebuilding the websites. My fear is that they have been hit by a ransom-ware attack and may not have properly protected their backups... I really hope this isn't true. It has been damaging enough having three commercial websites and all my email down for two days...

I would assume they have backups of backups somewhere....however they REALLY need a separate place to post updates and another way to contact them besides their not working website. They have two phone numbers I found when I searched and both are not good numbers so the moment they are back up Im going to very strongly suggest they have another method to get information besides emailing from their site

I understand that it was a serious server malfunction not ransom ware. Hopefully we can control our fears. Yes we are all in the same boat as to losing money. However.. machines are machines. So lets hope it won't be much longer or they come up with a work around.
Wishing I was Zenned !
It's amazing what happens when I put the files in the right folders !!!

If you don't mind me asking where are you getting your information? As you note machines are machines and stuff happens. I have no problem with that but a quick post even on here from Camelot would be better than no information and the inability to contact them directly. Hopefully this will move Camelot to have a secondary method to provide information and updates to their customers. Weve been with these guys for years and nothing but great things to say about them

I've heard that it's just a hard-drive failure. It happens. Sure, there are ways to avoid complete down-time when it happens, but that's a topic for another day.
NOT ransom-ware. Sheesh.
As for notifications, I agree, it'd be ideal if they were to post somewhere with updates. It'd be a lot more helpful.

Have you tried the phone number on the Zen Cart Hosting Ad? 717-779-1108 Or have you tried contacting him on with his Zen Cart id "Merlin1969" that may go to a non-camelot-hosting email address? He has not posted on the forum in a while (Dec 11, 2016 I guess that was when the other server was running again) but it would be nice to give an update.
If you are able to contact him please do let us know what he says and how long he thinks it will take to get up.
The other server was down for a week during the start of Christmas last year and who knows how much money I lost then.... so just be happy it isn't the Christmas season :)

If you have a source for this information, great. If not, you are just guessing and making implausible guesses at that.
A hard-drive failure brought down ALL of their servers? That isn't even possible unless they are running some seriously jinky setup.
It really doesn't "happen" that multiple servers all go down and need to be rebuilt.
Something bigger and more systemic than that has obviously occurred.

The number is bad...that's my issue, the ONLY way to get ahold of them (except for some people that seem to have a connection??) is to put in a support ticked on their site that is completely down. Kinda leaves you with the "Whats happening??" deal...
If anyone on here is in contact with them tell them to post on here some updates...

Thanks. I was under the impression they had several servers since they have moved me three times since I started with them.
If they have a server still functioning but haven't restored their own website, it seems to me that they aren't anxious to be responding to their customers.
If a single failed hard drive brought down their e-commerce server, that is shockingly inept.

Yes Doug, we do have more than one server, and the server that Camelot Hosting is on is in fact functioning, the issue with it is DNS related to server 10 and the Hard drive issue ( you can see here ) https://50.22.204.226/
Now on to bigger and Better,
The hard main hard drive on server 10 crashed, It is being worked on at the Datacenter. There was an issue with the backups that the DC created manually ( they didnt bother to notice that we had valid backups already ) so there were Hours lost in that process.
They started bundling up the backups ( your data is safe, No hack, No ransomeware none of that stuff just good old hard drive failure. )
and the system rebooted so the process was halted and has to be restarted. They are doing the process right now as we speak, I just got off the phone with the DC upper level technition thats actually doing the work.
As to lack of communication, as I said before I can not get to Camelot due to a DNS issue so I was unable to post updates here, I asked Mike to drop in a QUICK update here since this is NOT The place for this lengthy discussion, As soon as I get more information I will share, and will post updates as soon as I get back on Camelot
