Re: POS Point Of Sale

Hi All :)

I have had a coder working on an EPOS add-on software tool for zen cart.

This project is named "Spedi Zen" and has been concieved to link the management of products and the sales of products online whilst al;so running an EPOS till in a retail environment.

This tool reads the inventory from our EPOS system's DB and adds/updates zen cart products, with any variables you choose from the source data.

This uses an additional column in products table "barcode" as the key to hang it all together

We so far have the software adding new products & updating existing prices; this is done by looking at the last changed price in our EPOS and overwriting the prices in zen cart.

So far we only have it working for a single category, which we link from to produce our catalog.

Unfortunately the coder working on this project has been taken from us and i now need someone to pick it up and run with it.

The actual tool is coded in delphi but uses a .php file to inject the data into zencart.

Anyone who wishes to get involved could they please PM me.

Kind regards

Jamie 2K

Re: POS Point Of Sale

Hello Jamie 2K,

Can't help you with the Delphi programming, but I laid the ground work for the PHP side. I use the product ID as the unique identifier, but it is a minor tweak to use an EAN code instead.

I am trying to avoid synchronizing two databases, so I am just using the Online Zen Cart database. This has the advantage that all stock/order/pricing data is consistent, but the current disadvantage that the POS-System needs to be online to process orders.

Re: POS Point Of Sale

I am also interested in the same, POS plus shopping cart with inventory capabilities, and fairly new to the search. It is disappointing, and surprising to hear that there may be no app that does that out of the box.

Re: POS Point Of Sale

I would pay for integrated pos system in a heartbeat.. Please keep us wholesalers in mind. The POS must work with multiple group pricing for our wholesale customers.

Thats the only thing preventing me from using OllaCart.

Re: POS Point Of Sale

I have a client that is looking to use his website as a point of sale at his warehouse.

Is there already a contribution that functions or mimics a point of sale for the zen-cart website?

Re: POS Point Of Sale

I do not want to get away from zen-cart.
I was just curious if someone had written a admin feature that would allow them to add orders like a POS

Cash registers are not free either...

You will also need a cash drawer and maybe a electroic register, bar code reader, & customer oriented Total display LCD or LED.

Re: POS Point Of Sale

I have a small store also, does olla cart integrate with zen cart and take products off the "shelf" inventory when scanned automatically?

If you have your products indexed/entered with their upc code and have the scanner linked through your register - then yes it performs this...
The whole idea is to have only ONE inventory that is dynamically maintained no matter if a instore purchase or an online purchase.

Re: POS Point Of Sale

I looked in to this a while back as I will have a "real" shop and a website and didn't want the trouble of multiple systems.

I'm using Zen as the engine for everything and then Ollacart for the shop POS. You can run this on a PC (nothing fancy as it only runs a browser to Ollacart) and then buy a cash drawer and receipt printer. Neither of these last two are very expensive. This keeps all of your data in Zen so stock and reporting are easy.

cheers
Guy

I'm willing to help with this project that would work with a store I'm putting together. If you need help, contact me at pickup-at-ecreations-dash-support.com or contact me via my profile. I'm professional PHP dev with 14 development experience but I'm still learning the Zend Cart API.

Re: POS Point Of Sale

I'm more half way building a module very similar to MagneticOne's Zen Cart Point of Sale but totally Open Source and customisable.

Is anyone interested in helping?

Re: POS Point Of Sale

OllaCart Point of Sale currently has several running beta installations that include support for attributes in QT Pro mode. It does not support other non-QT Pro methods of tracking stock by attribute. If you'd like further information, don't hesitate to contact me or to use the form on their website.
