Ok. When the urls are enabled, the checkout process will loop you back to step 2 with no order being confirmed or placed.
When the mod is disabled, the checkout works properly...
Any ideas?

using 1.3.6? there are 2 files that need to be updated in order for it to be used with 1.3.6.. i believe one is admin/categories.php and the other is includes/functions/html_output.php

Haven't done the upgrade yet...so 1.3.5

OK. Reset your SEO cache in the admin panel (admin > configuration > seo urls). I had a similar problem in IE where if i clicked a category.. it would just "refresh".. and after clearing the cache it works fine

already tried that. I've disabled the automatic redirects and it works. But the urls are not seo friendly. If I enable the automatic redirects, the urls are seo friendly, but the checkout loops back to step 2.
I'm guessing some variables are passed in the aim module and with the automatic redirects, these variables aren't getting passed.

hmm.. i updated both of those files like you said. and i'm finding that SEO still prevents my site from going secure when its supposed to. and also, with Newsletter subscribe. SEO prevents you from being able to process the email address.
in other words, when turned off, both work fine.
am i missing something else too?

Wow... it looks like some people got it running for 1.3.6. I got stuck pretty much at the beginning where the installation doc says I need to modify **includes/application_top.php **around line 355. This file doesn't have that many lines in 1.3.6. Am I halucinating here?

I am having the same problem. The url for the step 2 is http://www.doodlebuckets.com/store/checkout_payment.html?payment_error=cc
Notice the word "error" in the url. But there is no message telling what the error is. Turning off SEO fixes it, and I've upgraded to 1.3.6 b/c, with 1.3.5, my cart was getting stuck on Page 1! Now that I have that fixed, I am wondering what might be the issue now.
Thanks for hammering this out :)

Hi dreamscape,
It's only 3 days left on the fund contribution.

In case it still end up short for that $50, (according to voltage on previous post) can you still take $450 to work on the new version for seo url?
:wink2:

hi new2zc.. please read both readme files. You do not need to edit application_top.

I just stuck in my $25 ... hope it helps 'cause I want my SEO urls back. The version we were using broke https so we had to remove it from 1.3.5. Now I want to do the 1.3.6 upgrade and get everything working right again.

Just added my $25 as well. Can we get this thing fixed now? LOL I miss my SEO urls!

I feel like I'll be blind from reading this thread before I'm done. I am a business operater not a unix/linux expert. I do not write php. I began with Zen Cart 2 years ago. I can tell all of you that SEO URLs improve search position. You have to wait a long time to build enough traffic. I have several products that are in the top 10 on google. My sites that are not SEO often do not even have their products indexed. So lets stop the techie vs business debates and solve this problem. I avoid problems by trying to avoid upgrades since stability is the key to making money. Do not change things for your customers. I was perfectly happy with 1.2.4 on 2 of my sites and 1.2.7 on another. But, my host is forcing all Zen people to upgrade. (They value techinical issues over my making money too) I managed to get one site to 1.3.5 (minus SEO) before 1.3.6 came out and put me back to zero. People who use CMS do it so they can run their busniess, not spend their time on software.
If I lose SEO, I lose 2 years of position building. If I can not turn on the HTTPS, my host will close my site. So, with all this brain power, does anyone have an answer that will work and can be understood by a person who runs a business not a data center?

I feel for you. I have been avoiding upgrading from 1.3.5 to 1.3.6 knowing that one day I would have to bite the bullet and charge forward. I too wish that it was easier keep up with the upgrades and changes that happen all the time.
BUT...Your request for support was rude and it seems that you are ungrateful for the service this contributor has given you.
First of all there are security issues that have to be addressed with each and every upgrade.
Second the world doesn't stop for zen cart. Software has to be upgraded in order to make it compatible with operating systems, server environments, browsers, merchant card processing systems, shipping interfaces, search engine processes, etc etc etc.
Third this is a free module for a free cart. It sounds like you are forgetting that contributions take time and sweat to build. Then they have to be tested and upgraded with each and every new release of zen cart. They also have to live up to the standard of compatibility with software other than zen cart; ie, google's constantly changing environment. If a contribution is popular then supporting it is a consistent concern and most contributors have real jobs where they need to make real money to support their real families.
Fourth if you just want to run the business. Do that. Hire someone to update your carts. If you don't have the money to do that then welcome to the club. that's why we're here. If you don't have the time to invest in supporting your store well then maybe you should find another line of work.
The contributor is working on overhauling this module but I can tell you that it is not going to be built to support all versions of zen cart. And it is not going to be the be-all end-all of upgrades or modifications. It too will require support and revision just like all the other software in the world.
Here's what I suggest...especially when leaving messages on this forum...
be patient, be polite, be grateful, be generous and be industrious.
good luck to you

I'm now installing 1.3.6.
Will install all the other modules I have in my site but hold of on SEO URL for the results of this development effort.
Dreamscape, is it fair to assume that the result will be fully 1.3.6 compatible?
Zen Follower
I would certainly want 1.3.6 supported - its actually pretty close to 1.3.5 anyway
Dreamscape - your thoughts? ideas? timescales? what can we do?
