Hi I need some advice about my gift certificate issue.
In the CP I have the image Gift Queue and under that I have a message saying 1 pending approval. Which is always there however when clicking on the image there is no gift certificate to be released.
I sold a couple of certs yesterday and they released fine and are in the customers account ready for spending.
The one that's always there appears to have been one in a very early test account which has been deleted and I think this is the reason, it cant find it and cant apply it..So it's hovering somewhere in the DB waiting for some magic purge command.
Can anyone help with this.
Many Thanks

You can check the table coupon_gv_queue in phpMyAdmin and see if you see a GV that is marked release_flag N that may not be attached to a valid customer_id ...
This would result in seeing the GIFT Queue button but then not seeing it on the list in the Gift Certificates Queue gv_queue page of the Admin ...

Hi Ajeh,
Thanks for that could you please give me more directions on how to get to phpMyAdmin and what should I do if I see a GV that is marked release_flag N that may not be attached to a valid customer_id ...
Thanks
Also I had to move server recently and I have had a few issues, one of them being the fatal error below which has only left the top 3 options in the Order total module.
Fatal error: Call to a member function format() on a non-object in /home/httpd/vhosts/adulttoys4u.com.au/httpdocs/shop/includes/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php on line 49
Moving to yet another server has fixed all this so the site flies appear to be ok, what setting would cause this at server level.
The zen cart is 138a and the PHP used returning the fault was 5.2.9 I have been moved to 5.2.3. As I am here on a temp base to check if the server is causing it, I would like to know how to get over this problem.
Many Thanks

phpMyAdmin is accessed from your Control Panel on your domain ...
If you are unsure how to get to it, contact your hosting provider for instructions in using your Control Panel ...

phpMyAdmin Noted with thanks
Problem 2 are you saying that the reason I am incurring:
Fatal error: Call to a member function format() on a non-object in /home/httpd/vhosts/adulttoys4u.com.au/httpdocs/shop/includes/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php on line 49
Is that the server 5.2.9 should have the PHP 5.3 updates?

You need to click on BROWSE to see if you have any records in the coupon_gv_queue table and see if any of the records are marked as release_flag N and what the customer_id is ...
Then, look in the customers table and see if you can find the customers_id that matches that ...
If there isn't a matching customers_id for the customer_id you find in the coupon_gv_queue table then that is most likely the problem ...
Zen Follower
Yep it is there and the client has gone it was a test account
So simply delete this?
Sort by key:
Full Texts unique_id customer_id order_id amount date_created ipaddr release_flag
07:32:32 118.208.46.6 N
Edit Delete 5 2 6 25.0000 2009-06-26

Once you confirm that this is not a valid customers_id you can delete it ... :lamo:
NOTE: based on what you are saying you might also check the table coupon_gv_customer and make sure that any customers_id with a balance is valid ... as these are spendable Gift Certificate $$$ ...

I am having an unusual problem. I am trying to setup Zen Cart to replace my current limited one and thought that adding gift certificates would be a good idea. I followed the instructions listed in previous posts and everything went fine on my test gift certificate until I got to the payment page.:no: On the payment page both my right and left side boxes get mixed into the middle unless I add another product to the cart that requires shipping.:shocking: Can anyone point me out where I need to look to fix this because right now I have no clue.:frusty: I am not sure if it is the Cherry Zen theme I am running that is messing this up or the Fast and Easy Checkout one.
The first picture is of the checkout with only the gift certificate and the second is of the checkout with the gift certificate and an item that requires shipping.

I found the fix. In tpl_checkout_stacked.php add the following at the top.
<!-- Added to fix error with gift certificates only in cart -->
<?php if ($order->content_type == 'virtual') { ?>
<div class="centerColumn" id="checkoutPayment">
<?php } ?>
<!-- End of gift certificate add on -->

Zen Cart allows GVs to be either automatic or by approval ...
Personally ... I prefer to approve all GV purchases ...
Then, when you approve a GV an email is sent with the code ... no there is not fancy image of the GV with that email ... you could code something for this, but there is nothing built in for this to happen ...
Once the GV code is received either the person who got the email can claim it or they could give the code to someone else ... first person to claim it wins ...
Or, they can claim it, then later decide to send it to someone else ...
I am having the problem of the GV code is not being sent when I approve the GV. Where do I look to fix this?
Oba-san
Actually I worded that very poorly ...
If you send a Gift Certificate via the Admin, the customer gets an email with a redemption code ...
If the customer buys a Gift Certificate, it is queued ... and when released in the Admin ... an email is sent out saying that the Gift Certificate has been released and the balance will be found in the Customer's account the next time that they log in ...
So the Gift Certificate redemption code only is included on GVs mailed to a customer via the Admin ... and the funds are released to the customer's account when the GVs were first purchased and have been released from the queue ...
Does that make it a bit clearer? :smile:
