Re: QuickBooks Endicia Zencart

Hi Mike,

I'm still unclear exactly what your mod does and am a bit confused why the title of your mod was changed from "QuickBooks Endicia Zencart" to "Zen Cart Order Manager".

Reading through his thread, the mod readme, and after viewing the screenshots you provided, it appears that "Shipping Report Manager" or similar might be a more appropriate product title?

Could you be kind enough to delimit the specific functions which your mod supports WITHOUT requiring a QuickBooks install?

And which core Zen Cart admin functions does your mod enhance and which functions are brand new?

Thanks for the info,

Woody

Re: QuickBooks Endicia Zencart

The mod allows shipping USPS through Endicia servives, QuickBooks sales export and will soon handle much of the order processing procedures with barcodes, batch printing and much more. Hope this helps I feel the name suits the current and future of this plugin. As it will handle many more additional shipping services soon.

Re: QuickBooks Endicia Zencart

Thanks for the info. I guess I am still unclear what the mod does NOW, without the Endicia ship service or QuickBooks.

Is there more info available on a website or other documentation which I should be reading before downloading and trying out. Thanks.

Put server name as https://www.servername.com/shop

It may have issues if you remained your admin folder to a different name though other than admin.

Sounds like that is the case for the moment. In the next version I will see if we can specify where the admin installation is. Right now it just looks for the admin folder in the next level of the install.

Re: QuickBooks Endicia Zencart

Mabarkdoll,

I would like to go ahead and give this a shot since I can get QBI to work and don’t feel like having to pay to get it to work. I don’t mind paying/donating for already working software however.

Some initial questions before I jump in. I do not currently use Endicia.com’s services, and am looking for a tool to sync outlook with zencart at this point. Maybe in the future I will look into Endicia.

So this is how I see my application of the contribution working for me. I have not looked at order integrator yet so I am ignorant as to it’s functionality. I will download it shortly and play with it.

Install Order Integrator and insert the plug-in that comes with Order Manager.

Upload the 1.2.7 files to my zencart installation (this is the version I am currently using).

Configure Order Integrator as per the instruction.

For the initial import of all existing orders I will use the export/backup feature in the administrator section of zencart. I wil then import these files into Order Integrator.

Once that is done I can then export the orders to QuickBooks. I am assuming this is in the form of an iff file?

For all orders after that I can simply open Order Integrator and import them through the use of the ZC plugin?

A few other questions specific to my installation of ZC 1.2.7:

I currently have several other contributions installed. They are listed in my signature do you know of any conflicts between those and Order Manager?

I also use quantity discounts in my store will that affect Order Integrator and will it export the price that was actually paid for the product based on the quantity purchased, and not the initial price.

When I import into QuickBooks will my individual products be imported with the order as well? I want to use QB to track inventory and want to make sure each product is adjusted based on the quantity that was ordered.

If the individual products are sent to QB how are they associated with the proper income account in my case “merchandise” and products that are already in the system?

Will my customer information be sent to QB?

How will the payment method be imported? At the moment I take Credit Card (through Authorize.net, PayPal and also allow some clients to invoice using the specific contribution. I am currently having a problem with QBI and getting it to update the correct account and show the order as paid.

Is there a way to update the orders through order integrator even though I am not using Dazzle at this point?

When the orders are updated on the website is the change in status then sent to the customer vial email as it does if you wish when you update them through the administrator panel?

Lots of questions I know.

My biggest problem with QBI is that I cannot get it to import the data into QB into the proper columns.

I think most of my concerns are with Order Integrator since that seems to be the link between QB and ZC/Order Manager but I would appreciate any clarifications.

I do like the idea I can open an application my computer and import the orders without having to got to my stores website and log into the administration.

I am of the opinion that I will support Open Source software that works or is able to be made to work as long as it does what I need and I am able to use it. So therefore if I find this contribution helpful I will be more than happy to send a generous donation. So far with what I am using everything seems to be working great and I will be donation to those projects shortly, to include ZenCart.

Re: QuickBooks Endicia Zencart

OK i've answered some of my own questions and only have time for a quick reply.

The systems does not import customers into QB at least not that i have figured out.

It does not seem to be importing discounts either.

I had to manually create the orders_totals database.

I have one order that for the life of me i cannot figure out why it gives me an error when i try to import. I am looking into that.

What i have done is imported all orders (except the one mentioned) and then imported all customers (using QBI the only think i have managed to get working with that mod) and then manuall gone through and synced them all. I am still trying to figure out what to do about the discounts.

Order Integrator seems like a neat little application however it's future and it's support concern me. Need to keep an eye on that one.

Over all i am happy with this mod much more so than QBI since my primary concern is linking ZC with QB and look forward to feedback.

Re: QuickBooks Endicia Zencart

Not sure if i'm talking to myself here or not but. Until today orders were importing fine. I've done it 3 or so times with no problems other than those I already mentioned.

Today when i went to download orders i received a "no new orders" message when there are two orders that are waiting to be imported. Any sugestions. i checked the setting and nothing appears to have changed.

Strange I been using the plugin for some time without errors like this. You have it set to download new orders with the status "Pending" and "Processing" in Other Options? I also have Download new orders only checkbox marked as well.

Re: QuickBooks Endicia Zencart

Ok as i mentioned it worked the other day without problem and yesterday it did none. I made no changes to the settings.

The good news is it worked today (so that tells me for sure that it wasn't a settings issue). We recieved some more new orders and those were imported along with the ones that wouldn't download the other day. My connection was painfully slow yesterday, could that have been the cause? I am on a shared satellite conection and it gets pretty slow at peak hours. Although i would think the connection would have timed out instead of responded that there were no new orders.
