Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I have the same problem (ZC 1.3.5) with the large version not being watermarked. But only on my hosting server. My local (test) setup is working fine so I figured it must have something to do with the setup of GD. Still, small and medium images get processed just fine on both servers so it's a riddle to me. Was hoping to find a solution here but have not found it yet.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I just installed IH2 on my live site (I know, stupid me without testing it) and now all of the images on the product pages do not show up. My site is at http://www.shoptomlinsons.com/. Go there and go to an items page and you will see what I mean.

The images are all still there because I see can see them when I ftp into the site. They also show up on the category pages...it is just the item pages themselves that the images do not show up on. Any idea what's going on?

Thanks in advance!

'...The images are all still there' yes but where exacly?

Your images should be in the this folder http://www.shoptomlinsons.com/images/medium/

For example images for the product 'Dennis from Thomas and Friends' should be in -
http://www.shoptomlinsons.com/images/medium/99064_MED.gif

And the large pop up should be in the - http://www.shoptomlinsons.com/images/large/99064_LRG.gif

just check your image upload locations.

If you can not see the full URL above , just mouse over them and see in the status bar its full URL.

Does IH2 automatically update all of my existing images/products to use the IH2 images?

Before I installed IH2 my images were in the /images folder. That is still where they are right now. Maybe I missed a step somewhere, but I didn't see that I was supposed to copy everything from /images over to /images/medium. Right now in /images/medium there is nothing there except for the few files that IH2 puts in there automatically.

I'm going back to re-read the instructions again right now...thanks for your help!

If you use your admin site to upload then all the images will go to their correct places. If you FTP manually they wont as database will not register their locations. Those image URL's are referenced from the data in the db. If there is no record of the image been uploaded then it will not show regardles of images being in that folder.

Just go to admin and upload again.

Just to make sure that I understand you correctly...Am I supposed to go through the admin -> Catalog -> Categories/Products and re-upload every image again? I thought that this was supposed to work out of the box. Or am I supposed to go through and ftp all of the images into the correct folder?

If I am supposed to go through each product and re-upload the images...is there an easy way to do this? I've got over 1,000 products right now and I don't particularly want to re-upload every single image.

Thanks SO MUCH for your help!

Sorry can't advise you in regards to uploading in bulk. May be someone else might.

Good luck

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

OK, dangit after I just spent about 20 minutes typing a post out I accidentally deleted it before I could actually post it to the site.

oavs, thanks so much for your help. I really, truly appreciate it very much. I have converted my site back to a backup that I had from earlier in the day right before I installed IH2 (I did do something right at least). So now I am back where I started from...I've read through the installation instructions and the docs on the IH2 website a couple of times now and I can't figure out where I am going wrong. I hate to ask such a dumb question, but maybe if someone else could walk me through it I will see that I am missing something...here goes: Under the following situation, how would you install IH2 on my website (which is shoptomlinsons.com if you didn't already know from my other posts)...

I've got about 1000 products on the site right now. Each product has only one image with that image being probably a medium to large size file. I know that I can speed up my site a little by using IH2, so I really want to use it. I was under the impression that by installing IH2, it would take the images that I already had on my site and automatically resize them to work with IH2. I might have been mistaken about that, or I might not have installed it correctly the first time (even after reading all the docs), but that did not happen on my site.

I would love to use IH2, but I simply don't have the time right now to go through and re-upload every single image again. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or point me in the right direction? Thanks so much!

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I upload all my images to the /images folder, and i have no problems. i just ftp them all up at once, ih2 finds them no problem.

i would be there all day if i uploaded each image....

I did at one point have the issue you are having, i fixed it by UNINSTALLING ih2 in the admin control and then reinstalling it. I have no idea why that worked, but it did. as i recall it took twice doing that.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi there,

Check this out

My problem is that I would like the additional images to list horizontally, say 5 across. I have been trying to do this through css without success. Since my PHP is lacking, I was wondering if this might be a PHP thing that could be manipulated.

Cheers,

Did you set 'Product Info - Number of Additional Images per Row' to 5 under Configuration/Images? That should do the trick (if the colomn space allows for it).

I finally got it to work, and yes thank you, I did get change it to 5.

Basically you have to change a couple of php files and some css to get it just right. The funny thing about this is I spent a good 5 hours and got it almost there, then I read this post

Even though on this post they are trying to get additional images to the side of the main image, it still contains great information, and will get you going in the right direction.

BTW, the Additional Images per Row didn't seem to work for me until I was at the very end and needed to move my 4th pic up in line.? I tried to do this first.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hi, just installed IH2 and had to reload the one test product I have up.
On index i get
Warning: imagejpeg() [function.imagejpeg]: Unable to open '/home/eroticie/public_html/shop/bmz_cache/1/1fdd61e73977bc206e096017429642c4.image.111x120.jpg' for writing in /usr/home/eroticie/public_html/shop/includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php on line 651

And on Product page I get
Warning: imagejpeg() [function.imagejpeg]: Unable to open '/home/eroticie/public_html/shop/bmz_cache/6/6fa516ade12aa9bcb3d858ba6e9815cd.image.37x40.jpg' for writing in /usr/home/eroticie/public_html/shop/includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php on line 651

reinstalling dosn't seem to work any.

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

Hmm OK I thought i had re installed it.
I used the clear database and clear IH cache buttons, reloaded all the files and refreshed the admin panel, but It did not ask me to install IH2 again.....

does this mean it wasn't properly uninstalled (em still experiencing prblem I recently posted)?

how can I uninstall and check its uninstalled properly?

Re: Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

well darn. i was hoping that somewhere in there i would see something diffrent than mine, lol the only diffrent thing i see is i dont have my med images set to zoom, oh and my zoom gravity is set to the southeast.
umm oh and i have images set to no_change

here is mine

IH resize images yes Info
IH small image filetype no_change Info
IH small image background 255:255:255 Info
IH watermark small images no Info
IH zoom small images yes Info
IH small image hotzone no Info
IH small image compression quality 85 Info
IH medium image filetype no_change Info
IH medium image background 255:255:255 Info
IH watermark medium images no Info
IH zoom medium images no
IH medium image hotzone no Info
IH medium image compression quality 85 Info
IH large image filetype no_change Info
IH large image background 255:255:255 Info
IH watermark large images yes Info
IH large image compression quality 85 Info
IH large image maximum width 750 Info
IH large image maximum height 550 Info
IH watermark gravity Center Info
IH zoom gravity SouthEast

well then, sorry no words of wisdom :( other than try to uninstall from the admin tools, clear the cahe and reinstall... doing that for me seems to fix things at times...

you should get a lil bar on the top of the page (my bar is in a mint green) that says it was uninstalled. also your wording in the ih2 tools says install instead of uninstall. hth
