"Whats New" Scrolling Sidebox

i'd just installed your blueadmin and what's new scrolling sidebox contribs! i might say it is very good work indeed! :thumbsup:

i just need a little flavour from you! can you take a look at the Specials Scrolling Sidebox mod by sn0ut. here's the thread link:

i'd installed it but the weird things are its display the first special product twice every time page is being refresh and when you hover your cursor on the products' image, it will popup message "100" instead of the image's name! can you do something on this?:cry:

I am having a problem with the image being displayed incorrectly. It is stretched or compacted instead of normal looking. I know the sidebox uses the small image settings found in admin but i have adjusted these to no avail. No where else on my site is the image messed up like this. I'd really like to get this fixed but if not I'll have to get rid of it.

Any thoughts?

sorry i never replied. Its really not my sidebox contrib. I modified it to be zc1.3 compliant in one of its Product Type calls so that it would work with a discontinued contrib that I made. It was a one line change and thats the only part of that code that I know.

Well i had a few free minutes so I made the Whats New Scrolling box XHTML valid now if you want it.

Thats Fantastic that you made it xtml compliant .. would you know if there is a whats new or specials hovering or scrolling from top to bottom sidebox that works?

yup, that's it! there is 1 old mod by sn0ut. Just like the best seller, its for the special sidebox! the mod got several issues to solved... :mellow: i do not know how to fix that one with my limited knowledge...:huh:

Thanks for this update. It works great except for one minor problem. If Image Handler is installed, this mod uses the image from the /images/ folder. The problem with that is even though it keeps the small image dimension...in my case 100 X 100 it's actually loading the image I saved in my images folder. The images in my image folder are the biggest image size that IH uses to create images as it is needed.

Instead of the image being like 23kb it's like 205kb.

This is the same problem with the new Best Sellers with image.

1. Its display the same product twist at the beginning of the scroll.
2. When you hovering at any products in the sidebox, its always show "100" instead of the product name respectively.

I think one thing people need to be aware of about the scrolling sideboxes is that they load all the images when the page first loads - slowing the initial page load...

"scrolling specials" will load the number of images that are set to display on the specials listing page... 6 or 9 or 12 or 15.... for example, which means more or less effectively loading two pages instead of one when the visitor first hits the site... my scrolling specials pulls images from the IH2 bmz cache, not the ZC images folder...

correct me if I'm wrong about new products, but I think it loads a lot of images at start up ....

Nice job making this XHTML compliant.

One small glitch in the mod. This is that it doesn't follow the standard layout for sideboxes generated by template_default. As a result some templates (in particular future Zen) can't display the revised sidebox properly as the sidebox is missing some classes.

The fix is very easy. Line 28 is currently blank. Change it to read > $content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="sideBoxContent centeredContent">';The at the very bottom of the file, create a new line between 174 and 175 that reads> $content .= "</div>";Other than this, it looks to be a nice piece of work, that even with correction took less that 15 mins to install on a client's site yesterday.
