Please note that this module need the JavaScript support.
If the clinet's browser don't has JavaScript support or disabled it,
than the YahooTreeMenu with AJAX will fall back to "NoScript" mode,
the category menu works but without any function by JavaScript and AJAX, just like a ordinally menu.

Have just installed the YahooTreeMenu and it worked like a charm straight out of the box. Excellent work Andrew. Big thanx :thumbsup:
My store has only 2 top-level categories, with all the stuff in subcategories below. So it would be really neat if I could configure it so the site opens with the first level of subcats already showing - without having to click on any of the top level ones.
In other words, on loading the demo installation, first sight of the categories box would look like this:
Hardware
_Graphics Cards
_Keyboards
_etc.
Software
_Action
_Simulation
_etc.
I'm still struggling to get to grips with Ajax, and Java was never my strong point, so I'm wondering if there's anyone who could point me in the direction of what exactly I would need to tweak?

If you call expandAll() method of the tree object right before tree.draw() the TreeMenu will be expanded.In includes/templates/my_template/sideboxes/tpl_yahootreemenu.php I found this code: ```
$content .= '<script type="text/javascript">' . "\n"
. 'var tree;' . "\n"
. 'var nodes = new Array();' . "\n"
. 'var nodeIndex =0;' . "\n"
. 'var root;' . "\n"
. 'var tmpNode;' . "\n"
. "\n"
. 'function treeInit() {' . "\n"
// Replaced yahooTreeMenu by yahootreemenuContent for v1.3.x override
. ' tree = new YAHOO.widget.TreeView("yahootreemenuContent");' . "\n"
. ' root = tree.getRoot();' . "\n"
. ' loadTree();' . "\n"
. ' tree.draw();' . "\n"
. '}'
. "\n\n"
. 'function loadTree() {' . "\n";

Sorry about that, but I think I can't help at the time being. :(
For its the begin of a month, I need to send out all the checks and update the accounts.
Add to this, ZC v1.3.5 is hot now and I need more times to update the Chinese language pack and answer questions in my forum.
I am afraid, this may means within 1 to 3 weeks I don't have chance to touch the other things. :no:

I reallyought to shake the dust off those textbooks and try to get a handle on this javascript thing. But you know how it goes. If somebody has already invented the wheel why do it all over again? Thanks anyways for getting me some way along the road. :smile:

try menu sidebox, attached to this reply, please.Thanks for the help Andrew. I already downloaded that but yahootreemenu.txt says it's for Zen-Cart v 1.2.7. I've been trying to use this as a model to adapt yahootreemenu_with_ajax_v0.3a.1 which I thought was the right one for ZC 1.3.x. Am I mistaken?
Also, the only place in 1.2.7_0.1b that I can find expandAll() is in treeview.js. The only place I can see where I could call this function before tree.draw() is in the section in tpl_yahootreemenu.php quoted in my previous post. But this section in 1.2.7_0.1b is almost identical to the v0.3a.1 which I already have installed.
Sorry to be so stupid. There must be something I'm not getting - but I still have no idea what it is. :cry:

Please do not change this file!!!
Only tpl_yahootreemenu.php need to be updated.
BTW, this menu works properly with 1.2.X and with 1.3.X. Its because it is very independent of the Zen-Cart core API.
So, only install this yahoo_tmenu_zc_1.2.7_0.1b menu. I've been trying it with 1.3.5 today. It works.
P.S. This menu has not AJAX because AJAX is not needed in the menu, which has all items expanded.
P.P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

And I noticed you'd gone to the trouble of altering tpl_yahootreemenu.php from previous versions of 1.2.7_0.1b to expand the sub-categories. Very much appreciated Thank you again. :thumbsup:
The only small problem left is that it's also showing Documents in the categories box. Not a biggy. I can probably sort this one myself. But if you have any more pointers on where to fix this they'd be much appreciated.

Hi all !
I tried this addon for the first time today, using zc1.3.5 and categories_menu_yahootreemenu_with_ajax_v0.3a.1.zip downloaded from the download area plus updated it with yahoo_tmenu_zc_1[1].2.7_0.1b.zip downloaded from this thread. It is working, but something is wrong...
The sidebox name and border is gone, it's only like a square with the categories inside...
The categories are already "open", scrolled down if you know what I mean.
There are big spaces between the sub categories...
New Products and All Products links in the bottom of the sidebox, they are written directly next to the box, not like the demo page, with a space between the box and the text...
It's probably very easy to fix all these things but I am not that experienced with this... Anyone that can help or maybe it's better to wait until a new release for 1.3.5 is released ? Or did I do something wrong with my installation ?
Regards,
/Typhoon

I have tried to install this on 3 different servers now ... seems as I load it , it works then stops.... and all i see is the new product/allproducts, with nothing showing in the categories. using the lastest release of zen loaded yesterday 9/12/2006
If i view source for the index page it see treeinit() is called, and from what i can tell all the ajax looks fine, but it seems to not call categories.php...:-( so the categories remains blank.
If i call categories http://pro.scanpancookware.com/categories.php?cPath=1 manually it responds correctly, but index.jsp seems to not call it. Even if i look in my httpd log it seems to not call it.
I have the following files
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/templates/keylan/sideboxes/tpl_yahootreemenu.php
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes/tpl_yahootreemenu.php
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/templates/template_default/tpl_yahootreemenu.php
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/keylan/yahootreemenu.php
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/yahootreemenu.php
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/classic/yahootreemenu.php
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/modules/sideboxes/yahootreemenu.php
/var/www/html/zencart/includes/extra_datafiles/yahootreemenu.php
some are not needed and were created as part of fault findig this thing ...
any suggestions are helpful and most welcome
is there anyway to force a fetch of categories.php ?
thanks for any help

The following is the Files Listing for v.0.3a.1 in the download area.
/categories.php
/includes/extra_datafiles/yahootreemenu.php
/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/yahootreemenu.php
/includes/modules/sideboxes/yahootreemenu.php
/includes/templates/template_default/css/stylesheet_tree.css
/includes/templates/template_default/images/menu/.
/includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_loadnodes.php
/includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_treeview.php
/includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_yahoo.js/includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes/tpl_yahootreemenu.php
For the 4 files in above:
/includes/templates/template_default/css/stylesheet_tree.css
/includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_loadnodes.php
/includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_treeview.php
/includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_yahoo.js
Please refer to readme.txt in the zip file and try to put them into your override directory of your template.
- Stylesheet
The stylesheet is located in the:
includes/templates/template_default/css/stylesheet_tree.cssOr, it can be put in your releaded template directory for override.
includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet_tree.css
- JavaScript
Three are three JavaScript files and located in the:
includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_loadnodes.php
includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_treeview.php
includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_yahoo.jsOr, they can be put in your related template directory for override.
includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/jscript/.
And for the files in the above Files Listing:
/includes/templates/template_default/images/menu/.
It also should be in your override directory as:
/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/images/menu/.

seethrow,
I think this is not a good idea to move YAHOO.js, treewiev.js and loadNodes.js to the override directory because in this case this scripts will be putted in the each pages. This increas pages size and does not allow the browser to store this files in the cashe.
Andrew.
