Shipping Setting for Multiple Dropshippers

Hi

I am extremely new to ZenCart, and PHP for that matter.

I sell products from a number of different dropshippers, and therefore, different locations.

My question is, "how do I setup shipping from the different zip codes".
I don't ship much from my store location.

Would appreciate any help.

That I know of, none of the Zen Cart shipping modules will work for anyone with drop shippers. I use shipping as an attribute since some of my drop shippers use 2nd day, some ground, some don't ship overseas, etc. The customer basically selects the type of shipping and/or their geographic location. And I change the settings for each product. For example:

1. 2nd day shipping to the continental US
2. Alaska, Puerto Rico, Canada ground
3. Australia express
4. Australia surface

And so on.

And yes, it's a pain in the ass.

This is definitely a limitation in ZC. Even if a business doesn't drop ship, there could be multiple warehouses for the same store. Setting shipping calculation based on one store is tough.

I have looked and looked at the attributes, and still have no clue how to use it. For one thing, the selections are for the categories and not the 'suppliers'. If I could have set it by the suppliers, I could make it work. But I will keep trying.

You have to set it product by product.

I am also trying to take my site online (live) but I am not sure how to configure the site into my root dir.
I know that index.php will have to be there, but the rest of the site is in a folder called Store.

I can reach my site if I type in my browser: https://www.miziaktraders.com/Store/index.php but I need my customers to reach it via: https://www.miziaktraders.com

Anybody know what needs to be done?

You cannot deal with multiple shippers and multiple ship-from addresses in Zen Cart or any other cart that we know of. Here's the best way - pick a ship-from zip code from somewhere in mid-America and input that into your Configuration->Shipping/Packaging->Postal Code.

On some orders you will make a profit on your drop-shippers ship-from addresses, on others, you will lose. But it will all average out. That is what most drop ship businesses do.

This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing! Another option to consider is using your sales data. If run a report for sales by state and use that to set up your zip code that will minimize the hit you take.

I have a drop shipping module which makes you able to put different addresses on the different drop shippers. Unfortunately you can't define which shipping options the different suppliers have, but still it seems to make life a lot easier! I haven't tested it on a live site yet though.

The module is called "purchaseorders - Drop Ship Module". I downloaded it from this forum before all the changes were made. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll mail it to you.

You might want to take a look at your site...this is what I see when I go there:

I went to the site last night and it was fine. I have no idea what has happened. Could you suggest something?

The problem is this:
I installed the site in a folder called Store. However I needed the index file to be in the rrot of my domain so I copied index.php frm the Store directry to the root.
At first it did not work, but after working with it for awhile, it started working.
The problem is that I know and understand quite a bit of html, but I have no experience with php.

So now I have no idea what to do as I don't remember how I got it to work before. Maybe I should reinstall ZenCart, but I am afraid of losing all my hard work.

I am also hosting on Hostdepartment.com, and I have been having alot of problems with things changing without my input, like permissions (.htaccess) I don't know if that has something to do with this present problem.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

In the meanwhile, I will continue to try to see what i can do with it.

Does the purchaseorders Drop Ship module work with the 1.3.2 release of Zen??

Oscommece can do multi-vendor shipping there was a guy who did it and works great, So im sure it can be done with zen cart.

So I'm subscribing and lying in wait for the replies on the drop ship mod and if anyone can convert the OSC mod.

Dunno if anyone has written/implemented the custom code yet. I'm looking for just such a thing myself. Judging from the content of this recent thread, I imagine such an item isn't yet available. But if you private-message me, I'll be happy to recommend a programmer. Maybe we could split the fee and everyone wins. :smile:

Financially it's one of those vicious cycles - in order to make money to put toward a mod, would need to sell more stuff, but need the shipping mod to be able to increase products and sales <sigh>.

I tried the copy I have of an older mod that allowed you to put individual shipping prices on each item, however it didn't work with v1.36. I don't know if when trying ot update the surrounding code to v1.36 I overwrote something important or not. I don't know squat about programming!
