Time Zone Offset (for v1.3.0-thru-v1.3.9d ONLY)

Hi Gilby,

I'm in Melb also and just moved to a US server, so now need this mod.

Is this mod supposed to change the write date of the order to the database?

In the status comments when viewing the order there is no change - it is still out by 17 hours. Is this right?

To me this seems to be one of the essential places to have the right time - when ordered, when updated, etc.

If it does not do this then what does it do?

Thanks in advance, Max.

No that is not right.
One of its main purpose is to correct the order details
You must have not installed it correctly
Have you adjusted the time offset setting to 17 (hours)?

Re: Time Zone Offset (for v1.3.0-thru-v1.3.9d ONLY)

Hi Gilby,

Thanks for the fast reply.

Everything seems to have installed OK.

Have added the code to SuperOrders also.

SQL went in fine.

In Admin>My Store set time zone offset to +17

Uploaded the optional files also (dispalys fine at top of admin).

Checked the extraconfigs - already set to Melbourne - so no probs there.

Place an order and the timestamp in comments is still the US server time.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Max

Can access admin with no problems in IE, Chrome and Safari.

What is going on with my copmuter nowadays!!

Has anyone had similar problems - perhaps nothing to do with Timezone Offest??

OK

has anyone had problems with the latest release of filezilla not overwriting or copying all of the files properly?? I think that may be the problem (with this and some other things).

Thanks lots Gilby for the great contribution :bigups:

Glad its sorted
Some ftp problems seem to be dodgy at times, although I thought that was one of the better ones.

Hi Max, I have noticed that you have added the code to SuperOrders, Just wondering if you could be so kind as to let me know what the code is and where it needs to go re: superorders,

I asked about this a couple of pages back, but didn't get any response. My previous post re: this is below.

Would much appreciate your help with this one.

TIA

heavenlynights:

Hi Gilby

Thanks for this great mod. I am using super orders and was wondering which file/files I would have to add the timezone code into to get the correct time showing in super orders edit.

From what I can see, the only file which would be conflicting is the admin>orders.php as I have also an admin>super_orders.php

Normal admin orders edit is showing correct timezone.

TIA

Cheers Heavenlynights

You need to set the PHP time by adding the file
admin/includes/extra_configures/time_offset.php file

Change the line in the file from:
putenv ('TZ=Australia/Melbourne');
to reflect your time zone

Re: Time Zone Offset (for v1.3.0-thru-v1.3.9d ONLY)

Hi there,

I've installed this mod with no apparent problems, however, today i've noticed a couple of issues:

  1. My ZC counter history on the Admin homepage is incorrect. As of 17:00 GMT+1 on the 25th April, it is showing 500 hits and counting on the 26th April - what time zone is the counter history using?

  2. When an order comes through, the payment time and the ZC timestamp on the payment are different:

24/04/2009 17:23:06 Pending Transaction ID:
PPRef:
AuthCode:
Payment Type:
Timestamp: 2009-04-25 **10:23:04 **
Payment Status: Completed
AVS Code: AVSADDR: Y, AVSZIP: Y, IAVS: Y
CVV2 Code: Y
Amount:

25/04/2009 01:23:04 Pending

I am running 1.3.8a on a server in the USA with GMT-7. My timezone offset is set as +8 to reflect DST in the UK at GMT+1.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. I assume you are using an online gateway / card processor
These use their own time info and this mod does not correct that.
I cannot tell from the above which of these 3 times is the correct one.?

This mod corrects the date time info that is recorded in the orders database.
Are these dates and times showing correctly now that the mod is installed?
Check first that this is working correctly before going further.

Using PayPal Website Payments Pro so the timestamp within the payment details (the comments section) is set by PayPal and i can confirm that it has never been in line with the Zen-Cart timestamp.

However, previous to this mod being installed the first order comment was a blank comment with default order status and any customer comments entered when checking out and a server timestamp. Second order comment was the payment details with server timestamp and PayPal timestamp in the comments section.

Now, the payment details are the first order comment and the Zen-Cart timestamp is incorrect (it is the server default). The second order comment is the default order status with the time adjusted timestamp.

Does this help at all?

Re: Time Zone Offset (for v1.3.0-thru-v1.3.9d ONLY)

Hi

like several others I do not understand what you need to change if you have a different database prefix(module instruction 1 below)

Step 1. If you use a database table prefix other than zen_ you need to edit the included database_mod.sql file so that the zen_configuration table name accurately reflects the name in your database.

with a prefix of for example BOB in place of zen_ does this mean I open the database_mod file in notepad and edit there?

so that

INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, last_modified, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES ('', 'Time Zone Offset', 'TIME_ZONE_OFFSET', '0', 'The time zone difference between your store and the server. Enter +h, 0 or -h where ''h'' is the number of hours. If your store time zone is ahead of the server time zone, use +', 1, 7, NULL, '0001-01-01 00:00:00', NULL, NULL);

becomes

INSERT INTO configuration (BOBconfiguration_id, BOBconfiguration_title, BOBconfiguration_key, BOBconfiguration_value, BOBconfiguration_description, BOBconfiguration_group_id, sort_order, last_modified, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES ('', 'Time Zone Offset', 'TIME_ZONE_OFFSET', '0', 'The time zone difference between your store and the server. Enter +h, 0 or -h where ''h'' is the number of hours. If your store time zone is ahead of the server time zone, use +', 1, 7, NULL, '0001-01-01 00:00:00', NULL, NULL);

can anyone clarify, is this correct?

many thanks

Richard

Re: Time Zone Offset (for v1.3.0-thru-v1.3.9d ONLY)

No, it would be more like:

INSERT INTO BOBconfiguration (configuration_id, configuration_title .......

BTW, strictly in terms of usability, I recommend adding an underscore though, like this: BOB_ (otherwise table names are harder to distinguish)

Re: Time Zone Offset (for v1.3.0-thru-v1.3.9d ONLY)

I have a major problem with this all of the sudden. It was working great and then I logged into our admin panel and found a message that our timezone offset was -1 when it should be -2. When I changed it, it swapped around and yes, I do have the optional files installed with

putenv ('TZ=America/Los_Angeles');

in the time_offset.php file.

So, after swapping this around for a bit to try to make the message disappear, all the sudden (again, without changing anything but the timezone offset number), I get this -

1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') as date' at line 1
in:
[select date_add(now(), INTERVAL HOUR) as date]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

I am not able to use my admin panel at all at the moment. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You know, for now, I just removed this from Admin altogether as I needed to get into my admin panel.

You have accidently put an invalid time offset, such as a decimal point or invalid character.

Use phpmyadmin to edit the configuration table and put a valid numeric amount in there for TIME_ZONE_OFFSET

The code is unforgiving as far as typo errors go.

Is it possible to give fractional time zone offsets with this module. Something like +10.5 hours does not work.

Re: Time Zone Offset (for v1.3.0-thru-v1.3.9d ONLY)

Hi All,

I have just installed the time offset mod.
when i go into my admin i have 3 error messages at the top of my screen in yellow that say

TIME ZONE OFFSET ERROR! Time Zone Offset is set to 0 Hours. The difference between Server & Database time is 17 Hours.
2009-07-05 10:41:54: TZ Server Time
2009-07-04 17:41:54: Offset Database Server Time:

So i go into the configuration/my store/time zone offset and edit the time to show +17 as my store is in Brisbane Australia and my server is some where in the USA, Click on update, Go do something else and then come back to configuration/my store/time zone offset and it is back at 0.

Can anyone help?

P.S. The time and date are correct within 5 Min's at the top of the page just under the zen cart icon.
