your first problem is that you are not linking to your Zen Cart.

So the first thing you need to do is link to you actual Zen Cart. Located at http://shoppingbasics.com/shop/.

2 is the problem that every one seems to have is to go the the embed_config.php and put the correct path to the shop.html in to it. What I would suggest that you do is move it to the folder that you zen cart is in and in the embed_config.php change the line that starts with $zc_temp = to:

$zc_temp = DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'shop.html';

that should sort you out.

Re: Easy embed template

I just got finished merging the sang_embed files w/ the files w/ the 1.3.8a release of Zen Cart.
I also split the embed_config.php into to files. embed_config.php and embed_magic.php . What this will do is separate the configure file from the processing of the template. Hopefully this will make things less confusing for people.
I also added some examples for the zc_temp var.
I attached this here and if people like it I will add this as the file in the upgrades section.
Note this is not well tested, so if you are new still use the one in the down loads section

Re: Easy embed template

Kewl news Josh!

I'm going to try the "meshed version"! I am new which is why I'm grabbing it with such enthusiasm instead of the other copy!

I have tried to do this a few times and have either failed or am too blonde to grasp the concept, I just know the outcome should be a good thing!

So just wanted to say thank you for taking the extra steps!

Re: Easy embed template

what would be the reason to put the html page inside zen folder when your tryig to embed zen into your html site. then all you would need to do is link to zen index.php .Maybe I'm missing the point to this mod and I'm sure my zen cart is linked and I tried what you said all I got was nothing. I guess I'm not a Geek by no means but I have done a lot of learning in a year. I'm sure you have put a lot of hard work and time,we give many thank''s to you and all the other people that give to this program. I'll keep trying

you have this mod back wards
this is not a program that will mask the address of your web site. it will have all the same addresses as any other Zen Cart. but what it will do is make embedding you zen cart inside of your design easier, so that you have less zen cart tpl files to mess with. if you want shop.html to be the file name that one sees when the goto your zen cart then this is the wrong mod for you.
If you want to have an easier time making your zen cart section of your site look like the rest of it then this is the right mod for you.

the sang embed template is only a Zen Cart template, it has nothing to do w/ the addresses
you need to follow the read me install directions, and link to the zen cart dir, not a file

This is simply a Zencart template. Nothing more nothing less.. The difference in this template is that unlike other ZenCart templates which may include template graphics and such.. This template allows you to style your shopping cart to look like an existing website using simple HTML. It does this by allowing you to embed the shopping cart within an html template file. Just like you do not access any other Zencart template by entering in the URL of the template files, you do not "SEE" the result of using this template by directly accessing the template embed file you create. You would "SEE" the result when you access your ZenCart.

For example: Your site URL is http://yoursite.com, the ZenCart URL is http://yoursite.com/shop. You would create your shop.html file for this template. Within your shop.html file you will insert the imbedding code where ever you want the template to display Zencart. If you have a navigation structure which is used throughout your main site, and you want that navigation "wrapped" around ZenCart, you would include the navigation code in your shop.html page. So you will include your navigation code, and the code to call Zencart placed where you want the cart to appear. When you go to your store's URL you will see your cart within your site's navigation. So for example if you had a top & bottom navigation bar throughout your site, and you used this template to "wrap" them around your store, the result would be like so:

**=====Sitewide Top Navigation Bar=====

      Zencart will appear here

====Sitewide Bottom Navigation Bar======**

If you haven't done so already, you need to read this ENTIRE thread to REALLY get the gist of how this is supposed to work.. When I did this, it became CLEAR to me how this worked. With one small glitch (I downloaded the wrong version of this contrib the first time) it worked BEAUTIFULLY. I am using it on a current project because I had a situation where I needed to make a Joomla site work with ZenCart (I REFUSED to use VirtueMart :yuck:). Based on this experience, I am IN LOVE with this template contrib.. I can see all KINDS of way I will continue to use this template.. I can see how I could even use it as a standalone template..

What you must understand is shop.html will never work as you zen cart. this mod its not whats its for.
it will only change the appearance of your zen cart directory.

I'll keep tryingI just went to your ZenCart (http://shoppingbasics.com/shop/), and the FIRST thing I noticed is that you DO NOT have this template selected as your default template. If you have set everything up correctly for this template (per the instructions) then you need to go to the ZenCart admin and select this template (right now you have the default Zen template as your default template). Remember this contrib is a template contribution.. You WON'T see the results until you select this template as your default ZenCart template.

ogie56:

Forgot,if anybody has this working already would like to have a link to look at your site . and does this work with the newest verison of zencart
thank'sHere' my current project's test site: http://clients.overthehillweb.com/phlaunthair

The "Plaunt Shop" link takes you to my ZenCart (which is using this template). This is working with the latest version of ZenCart, and it's NOT the newest beta version of this contrib that was just posted here recently..

This template helped me to easily style ZenCart to integrate with a Joomla main site. The toughest part of this project (which had NOTHING to do with this contrib) was synching the Joomla and ZenCart stylesheets to ensure a seemless look. Tough might be a strong word.. The synching of the stylesheets was more tedious work than anything else.. The template contrib itself worked BEAUTIFULLY the very first time..

To anyone who is having issues with this template here's my observations from having read this ENTIRE thread:

  1. This is a TEMPLATE contrib. After installing and configuring this contrib, you will "SEE" the result when you select this template from the ZenCart template admin section
  2. You WILL NOT "SEE" the results of configuring this contrib by accessing your embed HTML file from your browser.
  3. It's a GOOD idea to READ this entire thread.. As of today, this thread is 14 pages long.. Now I KNOW some of you are saying "Can't I just skip to the end?" lf you are having trouble today with this contrib, and you are reading this post, then I submit to you that the answer is "No".. :blush:If you are having trouble, you may not completely understand HOW this contrib works, how to configure it, or how to SEE the results of your configuration.. This contrib is MUCH easier to setup than it may at appear at first blush. Read this ENTIRE thread, and you will see this..

The set up really is as easy as creating the embed file, making the necessary changes to the config file to point to the embed file, then selecting this template from your ZenCart admin..

Re: Easy embed template

yes, I understand that but what I'm saying is when I put this , <div id="content"><!-- START EMBED -->

<!-- END EMBED --> In the shop.html body it does not link to the zencart which is in my root so in the embed_cfg it should be: $zc_temp = 'shop.html';and that is inside common folder so what this is does is when i go to to my website in my nav. i create a link to shop.html and it should show zen cart in the body , which i take your basic stylesheet and redesign that to match my other html pages and everthing is good. but some how I'm not getting how to link it right . because if i create a link to zencart there would be no reason to make the shop.html or what ever you want to call it ,and you would just have an external link ,which is what i was doing . . thank's for your help and sorry i called it a mod.
