Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

nrg77:

Yes we also use the virtual terminal as a "temporary" solution however, as you can imagine if you have 40 orders a day and having to go back and forth with the email and the order to fill in the CC# on the virtual terminate gets pretty time consuming.
Oh, believe me I know all about the time consumption! I am scrambling to figure this out, I just haven't got it yet!

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

I am based in the US. I am using the PayFlow Pro Module to incorporate PayPal 2.0 into my site. The 139 error is the issue. I am using GoDaddy for my hosting (economy plan) on Linux platform. I do have an SSL installed and all my CURL settings are all correct.

My assumption is that this could be a possible hosting issue however the offerings for an upgraded plan don't seem to change any of the essential hosting configurations. Although there are lovers and haters of GoDaddy, I have been with them for years and have never had an issue.

I am monitoring this thread 5 times a day for new posts. I really can't afford the time consuming manual processing with virtual terminal and am hoping this collaboration will help get things resolved. Any thoughts or ideas or welcomed, thank you everybody!

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Based on this thread I am switching to Paypal 2.0. The site will go live as soon as the account is approved but so far all transactions in test mode have processed fine. I am using Dotster for the hosting.

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

No it cant,

there are a few issues with the other carts code, foremost on that is the fact that it DOSNT meat paypals service agreement ( tos ) page 19 of the integration guide

Kayla:

I'm really curious since OSCommerce is compatible with Paypal Payments Pro, then why isn't Zen yet? Can't the code for the module or whatever it is be taken from OSCommerce and integrated into ZC? Isn't that how ZC started to begin with? From OSCommerce?

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Greetings,

I've done my best to read through this thread, and many thanks to all who have commmented...it's what led me to sign up with "PayPal 2.0" or as they are otherwise calling it "PayPal Payments Pro Payflow Edition".

Anyway, I'm a Zen Cart newbie, and have gone through the steps in the read me file to install the PayFlow module for ZC 1.3.7. However, I'm getting this error at checkout when submitting a test credit card number (got the module set to testing mode):

1146 Table 'swtoffee_zencart.zen_pubs_credit_card_log' doesn't exist
in:
[insert into zen_pubs_credit_card_log (orders_id, ref_id, trans_result,trans_auth_code, trans_message, trans_amount,trans_date) values ('-1','', '1','-', 'failed for cust_id:[email protected]:','12.30',now() )]

I thought at first, that the SQL patch didn't take, but I've looked at the db via PHPMyAdmin and it lists the "pubs_credit_card_log" table as inserted. However, I'm a little confused as to why it doesn't have "zen_" in front of the table name in the db nor does the read me file indicate that it should.

Any ideas here? Thanks in advance!

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

OK...sadly what should have been obvious, I realized that indeed "zen_" did need to be part of the db entry name.

However, now I'm still getting an error in test mode "Result code: 1: User authentication failed" – I'm using the test card info from the module:

Card number: 4111111111111111
Expiration: Jan 08 (it says any will work)
CVV: (this part is not clear to me exactly, but I've been using) 001

Here's the debug error e-mail I'm getting afterwards:

PopularContent:

&RESPMSG=User authentication failedThis means you were able to connect to the server at PayPal, but that the username and password you used (actually, the user/vendor/partner/password combination) was deemed invalid.
Perhaps you're trying to use a live account against the test server?

What happens if you use "Production" instead of "Test" mode? You should get a "Declined" error using the 4111111111111111 card number in that case. Then try with your real CC ... it should accept it.

As for "what is CVV" ... just like the help link says, it's the 3-digit code on the back of your credit card (or 4 digits on front of Amex cards).

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Thanks for your comments Dr.

I figured it out...:blush:...turns out I didn't realize the field for "User Login" needed to be populated because I don't input one for access to the PayPal Manager. However, after reading closer "User Login for Payflow Pro - Your case-sensitive username. If you have not created separate users, this is your main Vendor login username." I thought "Vendor login" may be the same as "Merchant login" and viola!

I might suggest that in future revisions of the module that the verbiage be modified to say "If you have not created separate users, this is your main Member login username." replacing the usage of "Vendor" altogether. Just a bit confusing.

Thanks again for the help!

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

A few comments about this service after using it for a bit:

  • I am relatively pleased with the service overall. Processing of the credit cards has increased the amount of orders placed on the website at a nice, predictable fee structure with no surprises.
  • I feel slightly more secure with accepting credit cards direct than just dealing with PayPal. Making a complain with PayPal is easy, starting a charge back on your card is a bit more daunting simply because you need to talk to someone to do it. I feel as though they are more than willing to work with me to achieve a good outcome should bad stuff arise. (we haven't had a chance to test this out though...)
  • From the purchaser's prospective, it's business like other websites. PayPal lets you change your tag line (what shows on the customer's bill) which is cool. You don't see 'PayPal' anywhere.

I'm more mixed on the Zen module however:

  • The documentation is woefully out of date. Stuff that is in the read me is way out of date.
  • There is a BIG disclaimer in there that it hasn't been tested on a Windows server. I'm running it just fine on a Windows server. (after some tweaking)
  • It says install the COM object and points you toward the SDK (yes - the SDK) without giving you much more information than that. My host already had it installed, and I just found out there is a support article on how to install it, and what exactly from the SDK to install. (PayPal Manager support, seach COM)
  • The debug that Dr. Byte added into the module when he revised it last really is a godsend. Thank you sir, so much!
  • There are two name fields passed over during authorization. NAME and LASTNAME. NAME has both first and last in it, LASTNAME has... well... the last name only. People are thus appearing is PayPal as FIRST LAST Last (BOB SMITH Smith) I've just commented out passing the LASTNAME variable, as it doesn't seem to be required. If it breaks something, I'll post here.
  • International transaction? Want AVS? Negative in most cases as of right now. AVS doesn't do international for the most part, and this module as of right now doesn't flag the transaction as international (although the API supports it). Setting up risks (or declines) are a bit more difficult then.
  • International transaction? (see a theme) Different currency? Stop and think before you capture that authorization! The module passes the converted amount over instead of the actual amount. (i.e. $100 purchase paid for via GBP is sent over as $100 GBP instead of 45 or something) PayPal then displays $100 GBP to capture and you have to go back to the transaction edit page to get the correct amount.

My BIGGEST gripe is that the shipping info you send off to Payflow doesn't get passed along to PayPal, so using the nice tool they have to automate shipping is much harder. You have to manually type in all of the shipping addresses. Mike (the contact guy listed here) basically told me that they will never support this. For that reason, and really that reason alone, I'm going to move off of this service once the 'other' PayPal service is ready to roll in 1.3.8.

That said, where to from here? The module needs a bit of updating. Should I update it? I haven't coded in years (save for some minor editing to make Zen Cart and a forum package I have run as i expect) but I am more than willing to give it the ol' college try. Support is another matter entirely as I travel constantly and can't log on every day. I guess a little guidance is needed here...

Thanks everyone. Good selling to you all!

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

Two things I forgot about the module:

The CVV number doesn't seem to make it to the customer order screen. (i.e. you see the card number with the XXXX's in it, and the EXP date, but the CVV field is blank)

When approving the card, Zen Cart automatically updates the order, with a whole lot of nothing. Something like this:

Credit Card processed. AUTH: . TransID: .

Neither are big deals, just lack of polish...

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

I've done some work on a new module using a whole different API, but am trying to get the other PayPal pieces wrapped up first.

Certainly feel free to update the existing module to resolve its deficiencies!

Re: Paypal 2.0 for zen cart

mafiasam:

I wish I would have found this a long time ago. Linkpoint/Card Service fees are astronomical for a small business. It will be my one year anniversary using their service and I was just charged a "Annual Compliance Svc Fee" of $75. On top of the average $50 to $80 monthly fees and on top of the transaction fees I am getting soaked. I've had enough.

I have disabled Linkpoint and I am going to call Michael at 9am this morning and get on board with PayPal 2.0.

Although I have to admit it sounds almost too good to be true after going through the whole Linkpoint fiasco.

I am wondering if I can get that compliance fee refunded if I am canceling. Actually I'll probably have to pay a cancellation fee too.

Lesson learned I guess.

mafiasam
Sorry for the late post, but I was charged the annual service fee also. I just emailed michael and I going to dump Linkpoint as soon as possible.

The button's positioning is controlled by the selector in your stylesheet. You probably skipped it in an upgrade somewhere. It was added in v1.3.7:```
#shoppingCartDefault #PPECbutton {
float: right;
}
