Ultimate SEO URLs

since this domain is the first one in my hosting account its using "/" so am leaving /shop/ as / / blank

as a test i have added a category and product.

they all appear like this -

domainname.com/category123-c-1.html (Category)
domainname.com/2ndproduct-p-2.html?cPath=1 (Product)

I was hoping to see as

domainname.com/category123/2ndproduct-p-2.html - something like this or similar to this.

any tips. I am getting there

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Wohoo, You got it for me.
I had to take out the line RewriteBase completely for it to work, since I have no subpath to my shop.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

CreepyD:

I'm having trouble grasping how to set this up.
The problem for me is Ultimate SEO came preloaded onto my Zen Cart shop.
It appears to work when I enable it, so you get the html page in the address bar page instead of php, but I get page cannot be found errors for all links - as if the .htaccess file is not working.

I have a .htaccess file in my root which I created myself a while ago to forward from 'domain.co.uk' to 'www.domain.co.uk' (this works).
I've tried removing this and then enabling Ultimate SEO but still no go.

Is Ultimate SEO suppose to create me a .htaccess file?
Can anyone see where I'm going wrong?

Download the contrib and add the contents of the included example htaccess to yours... on top.

No.... You need rwwrite base for the redirects and rwrites to work properly....
the correct format is as follows

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

I amended my .htaccess as above
but I still get the same thing.... ;-(

domainname.com/categorywithslash-c-5.html - category
domainname.com/prodcutwithslash2-p-10.html - product

That is correct..... Check the readme and here http://outdoorflagstore.com/

If you do not include the rewrite base your redirects will be useless as Google will not follow them properly.

If you are using an addon domain, your webhost will be able to help you configure this and the DNS properly.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

This is a link to store http://outdoorflagstore.com/ to see how the links are.... This one I have stripping the slashes.

This one is not stripping the slashes http://prominentpets.com/

I was referring to this section of the readme

Example URL Transformations:

From: http://yoursite.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=24
To: http://yoursite.com/disciples-sacred-lands-linked-p-24.html

From: http://yoursite.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_20
To: http://yoursite.com/software-strategy-c-2_20.html

From: http://yoursite.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us
To: http://yoursite.com/contact_us.html

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

thanks for the link mprough.

I did see the supplied readme and your website too.

I was wondering is that if it is possible to have something like this.

domainname.com/category1
domainname.com/category1/product1.html

instead of this
domainname.com/categor1
domainname.com/product1.html

I have now successfully installed these modules...

Tracker
Dropshippers
Google Checkout
Easy Populate
USU - ongoing with the path issue.

Any clue how I can get absolute product path working working...

This (domainname.com/categor1) is not possible and retain the html for product pages... all or nothing and it requires a hand edit to achieve this.

domainname.com/category1/product1.html

This is also very likely possible w/ hand editing... BUT I have never tried as this would make the urls very long and traditionally it is a very bad thing to have such long urls as most opportunities to post links for users in forums and such are truncated.. and they cannot link to you if the url doesn't fit in the box =-)

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Read the directions for the code to be added to your htaccess.

Post a link if you cannot figure it out.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

You will need to add the REST of the rules for your htaccess....

##### NOTE: Replace /shop/ with the relative web path of your catalog in the "Rewrite Base" line below:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

# From Ultimate SEO URLs
RewriteRule ^(.*)-p-(.*).html$ index\.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-c-(.*).html$ index\.php?main_page=index&cPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-m-([0-9]+).html$ index\.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-pi-([0-9]+).html$ index\.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-pr-([0-9]+).html$ index\.php?main_page=product_reviews&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-pri-([0-9]+).html$ index\.php?main_page=product_reviews_info&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

# For Open Operations Info Manager
RewriteRule ^(.*)-i-([0-9]+).html$ index\.php?main_page=info_manager&pages_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

# For dreamscape's News & Articles Manager
RewriteRule ^news/?$ index\.php?main_page=news&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/rss.xml$ index\.php?main_page=news_rss&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/archive/?$ index\.php?main_page=news_archive&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/([0-9]{4})-([0-9]{2})-([0-9]{2}).html$ index\.php?main_page=news&date=$1-$2-$3&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/archive/([0-9]{4})-([0-9]{2}).html$ index\.php?main_page=news_archive&date=$1-$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/(.*)-a-([0-9]+)-comments.html$ index\.php?main_page=news_comments&article_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/(.*)-a-([0-9]+).html$ index\.php?main_page=news_article&article_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

# All other pages

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Fireflyz:

I have the same exact problem. The breadcrumb is missing the category ID and looks like this: "example.com/store/-c-.html". When it's clicked on, it goes to the store's main page., not the respective category.

  • one more problem:
    Salemaker:
When a category is selected for a sale, if the products are multilinked afterwards sale prices are not there anymore, the prices are reverted to original amount. :shocking: When I disable this mod, the prices are fine when multilinked.

Anyone? Thanks!
