OLD Super Orders 2.0 (See v3.0 thread instead)

(cue "At Last" by Etta James)

Super Orders 3.0 is READY for release.. I am just doing one last quality check, and I will have this all packaged up and submitted tomorrow night..

BIG HUGE thanks to my co-contributors JTheed and TNiemann.

BIG GINORMOUS thanks to our super eagle eyed beta tester TonyBenedetti for finding all those very small and very BIG gotchas!!!

Change Log - v3.0 Rev 1

  • Clean up and reorganize the readme file (again!!!)
  • MANY misc bug fixes and corrections
  • Overall cleanup of the files to remove deprecated and unused code
  • Countries now included as search option in "Batch Form Printing" and "Batch Status Updating"
  • The "Edit Status History" feature has been restored and the functionality modified. Editing of order comments is now limited to hidden "admin only" comments. Additionally in previous versions of Super Orders the "Edit Status History" feature inserted HTML and ASCII line breaks into the database, and this ugly line break code was displayed when the customer viewed their order history from "Status History & Comments". This particular problem goes back to 2006, and has now been FULLY resolved/addressed.
  • Customer comments modified to incorporate the latest Zen Cart 1.3.9 functionality/format
  • Packing slip images are now a simple on/off admin configurable option.
  • Batch print functionality has been expanded to include PDF invoices!! Options for the invoices are admin configurable
  • Split orders has been improved to help shopowners easily reconcile a split order. Creates a parent and child order. Paid split orders will display the grand total paid for both parent and child order. For orders paid via PayPal, Authorize.net or Linkpoint, the admin payment panel will not display on the child order.
  • Order total and customer address edit features have been removed in their entirety. (use Edit Orders if you need order/customer address editing functionality)
  • Added missing shortcut icons on the orders listing screen. Now there is a corresponding shortcut icon on each order line that matches the buttons that appear in the sidebox.
  • Restoration of missing default Zen Cart orders.php functionality. This now allows payment processor generated (PayPal, Authorize.net or Linkpoint) refunds to now be processed within Super Orders. (no longer requires the retention of the default orders.php to process PayPal, Authorize.net or Linkpoint refunds)
  • AUTO PAYMENT FOR ORDERS PAID VIA PAYPAL!!!!!!! 'Nuff said...
  • Improved graphics and buttons to SPRUCE UP the Super Orders UI
  • If you have Edit Orders installed, you can enable Edit Order in the Super Orders admin to enable Edit Orders buttons in Super Orders (No code merging required.. Simply install Edit Orders and "turn on" Edit Orders in the Super Orders admin!!)
  • If you have Ty Package Tracker v3.0 installed, you can enable the Ty Package Tracker fields for Super Orders (No code merging required..) Simply install Ty Package Tracker and "turn on" Super Orders from the Ty Package Tracker admin!!)
  • If you have USPS Click-N-Ship installed, you can enable USPS Click-N-Ship in the Super Orders admin to enable USPS Click-N-Ship fields/buttons in Super Orders (No code merging required.. Simply install USPS Click-N-Ship and "turn on" USPS Click-N-Ship in the Super Orders admin!!)
  • If you have FedEx Automated Labels installed, you can enable FedEx Automated Labels in the Super Orders admin to enable FedEx Automated Labels buttons in Super Orders (No code merging required.. Simply install FedEx Automated Labels and "turn on" FedEx Automated Labels in the Super Orders admin!!)

Let me stress something here so that it's CLEAR.. With regards to the mod integration: You are NOT required to install ANY of Edit Orders, Ty Package Tracker, FedEx Automated Labels or USPS Click-N Ship to use Super Orders..

BUT...

If you are running any of these mods, you don't have to tear your hair out trying to get the correct Super Orders code merged into the Super Orders files to use these mods.. Install them as normal and TURN IT ON in the Super Orders admin (Ty Package Tracker will need to be turned on in the Ty Package Tracker admin)

In support of this new release there are updates to Edit Order and Ty Package Tracker that will also be submitted to the downloads.. (See the Ty Package Tracker and Edit Orders respective support threads tomorrow for details on those updates -- PLEASE do not ask non Super Orders related questions here..)

Lastly we are also supplying the properly merged files need for those running FEC and COWOA. (no admin flags for these mods.. simply use the provided pre-merged files for these mods)

Okay that's it.. Gotta turn in for the night.. Will post as soon as this new version has been submitted to the downloads section, and again when it is available in the downloads section..

Re: OLD Super Orders 2.0 (See v3.0 thread instead)

Wanted to post in this thread the answer to the frequently asked "What does Super Orders do?" question..
(which BTW REALLY IS explained in detail in the readme for those who REALLY wanna know..)

PURPOSE & AIM

Super Orders is exactly what its name implies: Zen Cart order management on steroids.
It's more in all the areas Zen users are asking for more:

  • More order control

  • "Batch Form Printing" and "Batch Status Updating" inclduing support for PDF invoices.

  • "Batch Form Printing" and "Batch Status Updating" both offer expanded order search options.

  • Editing of hidden "admin only" comments

  • Split orders allows you to split individual lines on an order. So for example if a customer orders 5 widgets and you've only got 3 in stock, you can move 2 to another order creating a new (child) order which is split from the parent (original)

  • More thorough data

  • Order payment tracking -- allows shopowners to enter and track order payment details (check, money orders, etc.) Payments made via Authorize.net, Linkpoint and PayPal are entered for you automatically. Send customer payment notification/verifications

  • Order refund tracking -- allows shopowners to enter and track order refund details. Send customer refund notification/verifications

  • More detailed reports

  • EASY integration* with Edit Orders, USPS Click-N-Ship, Fedex Automated Labels, and Ty Package Tracker

  • More navigation options

  • More shortcut icons on the orders listing screen. Now there is a corresponding shortcut icon on each order line that matches the buttons that appear in the sidebox

*Edit Orders, USPS Click-N-Ship, Fedex Automated Labels, and Ty Package Tracker MUST be installed to use these built-in integration features

That said I STRONGLY suggest that anyone THINKING about this mod download it and READ the readme.. The readme goes into a LOT more detail about what Super Orders can do.. It should answer any questions about what this mod provides..

Hey DivVocals! Congrats on the new version! Looking forward to trying it out.

Might be a good time to start a new dedicated thread for 3.0 with your last two posts to start it off :)

That was kinda the plan... Wanna find out if the admins will make it a sticky too like the current Super Orders support thread..

dw08gm:

I thoroughly agree.

Thanks to both of you.. But I gotta say this again.. This would NEVER have happened without the patience and TALENT of JTheed.. He deserves a medal!!!

This might be a good time to add some additional information on the new release..

CURRENT Ty Package Tracker Users:
If you are CURRENTLY running Ty Package Tracker, you DON'T have to upgrade to the new version (will be submitted when Super Orders is submitted this weekend) to take advantage of the new Super Orders v3.0 integration.. (though I think you SHOULD update to the new Ty Package Tracker:laugh:) BUT you will need to run the Ty Package Tracker v3.0 upgrade script. This NOT affect any tracking data you already have in the DB.. BUT it will add the necessary admin flag needed Super Orders v3.0 users to take advantage of the Ty Package Tracker integration option. (the Ty Package Tracker upgrade script only adds the Super Orders admin flag to the Ty Package Track configuration group)

CURRENT Edit Orders Users:
If you are using any version of Edit Orders PRIOR to the Edit Orders v3.0 release, you DON'T have to upgrade to the new v3.0 release (an update to the current version will be submitted when Super Orders is submitted this weekend) to take advantage of the new Super Orders v3.0 integration.. (though I think you SHOULD update to the new Edit Orders:laugh:) BUT if you want Edit Orders to return to super_order.php, you will need to make some manual changes to your Edit Orders files so that it returns you to super_orders.php vs orders.php. Instructions/guidance on those changes will be provided in the Super Orders readme file.

If you are currently running Edit Orders v3.0 AND will be using Super Orders v3.0, please note that an update to the current version will be submitted when Super Orders is submitted this weekend. You only need to run the uninstall SQL and then re-run the install SQL when the update to Edit Orders v3.0 is available. (no other updates will be needed..)

Whew!!! Okay off I go!

Re: OLD Super Orders 2.0 (See v3.0 thread instead)

Tax rounding problem in Superorders 2.0
Using v1.3.9g, couldn't find problem in Forum. Please see graphic.

The SuperOrders Order Payment Data and Amount Applied seems to come from the orders table:

SELECT orders_id, order_total, order_tax
FROM cart1_orders
WHERE orders_id =1166

orders_id = 1166
order_total = 19.22
order_tax = 1.04

But invoice shows different, and authorize.net charge is $19.23

SELECT *
FROM cart1_orders_total
WHERE orders_id =1166

This shows:
|title | text| value
|CA state sales tax: | $1.05 | 1.0450
| Total: | $19.23 | 19.2250

Is this fixed in SuperOrders 3.0? Suggestions? Thanks!

Short answer.. didn't know it was broken in the current version.. Didn't test for this EXPLICITLY in the v3.0 testing..

Question for you... What does the order total read in the default orders.php??

Wanted to point out that the two queries you cited are coming from TWO DIFFERENT tables. (see highlighted sections below..

It'll help to determine if there is an issue and how to address it if you can tell me what the default orders.php page looks like for this SAME order.. Also screen prints of the default invoice.php and the super_invoice.php would also be imensely helpful.. Since Super Orders is based off of the default Zen Cart orders.php this is helpful information..

Re: OLD Super Orders 2.0 (See v3.0 thread instead)

Doing little sleuthing in the forum I am confident that this reported issue is NOT a Super Orders issue at all.. If markcarranza had posted screen shots of the default order.php and invoice.php I'm fairly certain that the order totals displayed would be the same as the ones shown on super_orders.php and super_invoice.php.

The values stored in the orders and order_totals tables are NOT affected by Super Orders in ANY way. Super Orders makes USE of this information for orders paid via credit card so that it can auto-generate a corresponding payment record in the Super Orders payment tables. Super Orders DOES NOT alter these values during the checkout/ordering process.

A search of the forum confirms that the tax rounding error is indeed a ZEN CART issue that was addressed apparently in one of the releases subsequent to the 1.3.9g release that markcarranza is running..

Suggest following one of the threads which discusses how to fix it if you are un-prepared to upgrade to the latest 1.3.9 release and SEE if this doesn't resolve the issue.. (BTW the fix will likely not FIX any orders already received, but it should correct orders received after the fix is applied..)

sanjiThe editing functions in older versions of Super Orders was based on an OLDER version of Edit Orders.. Using one of the newer versions Edit Orders would have allowed you this same functionality with newer/improved functionality.

The ability to edit orders directly in Super Orders has been deprecated in v3.0 in favor of providing an integration option with the Edit Orders mod (which you must download and install to take advantage of this feature). This will MORE than adequately provide those who desire order editing functionality with an improved means to do so.

In any case I hope you made note of the FULL change log I posted earlier.. In particular the following items..

  • Order total and customer address edit features have been removed in their entirety. (use Edit Orders if you need order/customer address editing functionality)
  • If you have Edit Orders installed, you can enable Edit Order in the Super Orders admin to enable Edit Orders buttons in Super Orders (No code merging required.. Simply install Edit Orders and "turn on" Edit Orders in the Super Orders admin!!)

Re: OLD Super Orders 2.0 (See v3.0 thread instead)

I have a feeling I'm going to have to repeat this a few times, so let me post this now so I can copy and paste or refer to it later..

I have been asked a few questions about the Super Orders v3.0 integration options to support other Zen Cart add-ons/modules. So let me clarify a few things.1. Question: Did I read that right?? Does Super Orders v3.0 now come with Edit Orders, Ty Package Tracker, USPS Click-N-Ship, and FedEx Automated Labels already bundled in???

Answer: NO! But we've made it EASIER for Super Orders users who use (or want to use) these mods with Super Orders.

We looked around and found that there were a number of modules which kindly provided Super Orders files edited to work with these modules. Over time however many of these add-ons did not always update these Super Orders files to match the latest versions of Super Orders. Also if shopowners were running more than one of these add-ons sometimes the job of merging all the changes was a little daunting was some..

Initially we talked about bundling all of these modules into Super Orders, but thought better of it.. Not all shopowners need (or want) Ty Package Tracker for example. So instead we opted for making the required changes while still providing shopowners the flexibility to choose which mods they wanted to enable to use with Super Orders (versus forcing extra mods on them).

For ANY of the new Super Orders v3.0 integration options to work you MUST have the required mod(s) installed first. Then you simply "turn on" the appropriate admin flag to enable that modules fields/buttons in Super Orders. If you do not have the required mod installed and turn on the admin flag you will get errors in your store..

We are strongly suggesting that you get the other modules up and ruinning FIRST so that you do not mistakenly assume that install issues with the other mods are with issues with Super Orders. We have tested EACH and every one of these mods and find they all work if installed as their readme files direct. Once they are installed and working correctly "turning on" the appropriate admin flag takes care of making them work with Super Orders. (please note in the readme file which versions of these mods are currently supported)
---------

---------
2. Question: Do I HAVE to install Edit Orders, Ty Package Tracker, USPS Click-N-Ship, or FedEx Automated Labels to use Super Orders v3.0?

Answer: NO! You DO NOT have to use the integration options NOR are you required to installed any of the integrated modules in order to use Super Orders.. We simply wanted to make using these modules EASIER for Super Orders users..I STRONGLY suggest to EVERYONE who plans to install or upgrade to please READ the Super Order v3.0 readme file..
There are LOTS of details in it which should answer most questions you may have.. More importantly it contains vital instruction son HOW to upgrade, and HOW to use the new integration options we have built in..

Re: OLD Super Orders 2.0 (See v3.0 thread instead)

Thanks DivaVocals,

It was indeed clear that the newest Edit Orders version 3 has to be installed. I am waiting for SO 3 to be released, and intend to install both mods together to limit the handling.

Looking foward for the release by the Zen Cart team ;)

Re: OLD Super Orders 2.0 (See v3.0 thread instead)

Another mod to consider is COWOA, although JTHeed seems to have already taken this into account.

While I keenly await the SO3 release, the only other mod I require to finish my store is Events Calendar, which is in dire need of improvement. Nudge nudge wink wink.
